The Galaxy A56 5G is the newer phone, with a slightly larger display and a newer feature set; the Galaxy A35 5G may be the better value if it costs substantially less where you live. At US launch, Samsung priced the A35 from $399.99 in 2024 and the A56 from $499.99 in 2025—a $100 difference. Those are historical launch prices, not current prices, so compare local listings at the same storage capacity before deciding whether the A56 premium is worthwhile.

What is the price difference?

Samsung’s US launch starting price for the Galaxy A35 5G was $399.99 in 2024, while its US launch starting price for the Galaxy A56 5G was $499.99 in 2025. That makes the nominal historical launch-price gap $100. Samsung’s announcements establish those launch figures, not what either phone costs now.

To compare current value, check the same country, storage tier, and device condition—new, refurbished, or used—and account for any carrier terms or discounts. A cheaper listing may be a different configuration or include conditions that make it an unlike-for-like comparison. Current prices and stock can change.

Where the A56 has the clearer specification advantage

A slightly larger screen

Samsung lists the A35 with a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and up to a 120Hz refresh rate in its global specifications. Samsung’s US A56 page lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The A56’s stated diagonal is 0.1 inch larger; the cited A56 page does not establish a refresh-rate figure for this comparison, so do not assume the two displays are identical in every respect.

A newer generation and feature set

The A56 belongs to Samsung’s 2025 generation, after the A35’s 2024 US launch. Samsung describes upgraded camera capabilities and AI editing features for the A56. Those launch descriptions do not, by themselves, prove that every photo is better or that a feature is available in every region or software version. Verify the functions on the local model before buying if a particular feature matters to you.

Camera comparison: don’t decide by megapixels alone

Samsung lists the A35’s rear cameras as a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The cited A56 launch material describes camera upgrades but does not provide enough directly comparable sensor detail to declare a winner across all lenses.

Camera choice depends on the photos you take: low-light scenes, moving subjects, ultra-wide views, close-ups, and selfies can produce different results. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality, and the official material cited here is not a controlled A35-versus-A56 camera test. If photography is decisive, seek sample images or a direct comparison for the exact regional models rather than treating a headline camera specification as proof.

Battery capacity and everyday performance

Samsung states a typical battery capacity of 5,000mAh for both phones. Capacity is not a runtime guarantee: screen use, signal strength, network conditions, apps, and software all affect how long a charge lasts. The matching capacity figure does not establish equal battery life.

The cited official sources do not provide a controlled A35-versus-A56 benchmark. They therefore do not support a quantified performance advantage or a claim about which phone feels faster in a specific workload. Consider what you run—such as demanding games, multitasking, or everyday messaging—and look for independent testing of the exact models if performance is a priority.

Software, storage and regional differences

Samsung’s US A35 launch announcement names Android 14 and One UI 6.1. The cited A56 materials identify it as a 2025-generation phone and describe newer features, but they do not establish a complete, comparable software-update commitment for both phones in every region. Check Samsung’s current support information for your country and exact model if the remaining support period matters to you.

Samsung says A35 specifications can vary by market. Its global announcement lists 128GB and 256GB storage configurations, while the A56 US launch announcement lists those two capacities. Availability of a capacity, memory configuration, network bands, and carrier support may differ locally. Compare matching storage tiers and confirm the exact SKU before purchase.

Which phone should you choose?

Choose the Galaxy A35 if

  • It is meaningfully cheaper than the A56 in your market at the same storage capacity and condition.
  • You want the specified 6.6-inch display and a rear-camera setup that includes an ultra-wide and macro camera.
  • You do not need a particular A56 feature enough to justify the price difference.

Choose the Galaxy A56 if

  • You prefer the newer generation and Samsung’s described camera and AI editing features.
  • You want the 6.7-inch display listed on Samsung’s US product page.
  • The current local price premium is acceptable for the features you will actually use.

Before choosing, compare both phones at equal storage and condition in your country, then confirm local availability, carrier compatibility, and the software information for the exact model. The $100 US launch gap is a useful historical reference, not a recommendation to pay that much more today.
