There is no evidence-based universal winner between Funio and GreenGeeks. Funio’s shared-hosting page spells out more plan-level resource limits, while GreenGeeks publishes disk tiers, nightly backups, data-center regions, and a renewable-energy matching claim. Choose by your site’s capacity needs, backup requirements, server location, and the full price over your chosen term—not by an introductory monthly figure alone.

Compare the published shared-hosting plans

The figures below are from provider pages checked on October 7, 2026. They are published plan details, not a controlled performance comparison or a guarantee that the same offer will appear in every region or at checkout.

Provider and tier Websites or domains Storage Bandwidth Other published limits
Funio Economic 1 website 20 GB 250 GB 100 email accounts; 10 databases
Funio Unlimited Unlimited websites Advertised as unlimited Advertised as unlimited Unlimited email and databases advertised; up to 512 MB RAM and 1 CPU
Funio Startup Not stated on the cited shared-plan page Not stated Not stated Up to 896 MB RAM and 1.5 CPU
Funio SMB Not stated on the cited shared-plan page Not stated Not stated Up to 1 GB RAM and 2 CPUs
GreenGeeks Lite 1 hosted domain 25 GB Unmetered Other comparable resource caps not stated on the cited pricing page
GreenGeeks Pro Unlimited hosted domains 50 GB Unmetered Other comparable resource caps not stated on the cited pricing page
GreenGeeks Premium Unlimited hosted domains 100 GB Unmetered Other comparable resource caps not stated on the cited pricing page

Funio’s “unlimited” labels do not mean unlimited practical capacity: the same plan page specifies CPU and RAM limits. GreenGeeks describes bandwidth as unmetered; that label alone does not establish how a provider handles unusually heavy usage. Check the terms for the exact plan before choosing either service. See Funio’s shared-hosting plans and GreenGeeks’ pricing page.

Work out the price for the whole contract

On the Funio page checked October 7, 2026, the displayed Economic amount was $5.83 per month against $11.65, labeled “50% OFF FIRST MONTH.” The same page showed discounted figures of $11.13, $20.67, and $30.21 per month for the other listed tiers, also described as first-month promotions. These are page figures, not quotes for every term or locale.

GreenGeeks’ pricing page says its discount can be up to 70% when a longer term is selected. It does not establish that a particular discount, renewal amount, or checkout total applies in every region. Compare both providers using the same currency, billing duration, and geography. Before paying, verify the term charged today, the regular renewal rate and cadence, taxes, and any add-ons in checkout. Funio’s first-month wording and GreenGeeks’ longer-term discount are not directly comparable monthly prices.

Check backups before moving a site

Funio’s published backup information conflicts: its shared-plan table lists 48 hours of retention for Economic and seven days for Unlimited, Startup, and SMB, while a separate comparison page says all plans include 14 days of retention. The pages do not resolve which figure applies to a particular account. Confirm retention and restoration terms for the exact Funio product before relying on its backups. Funio’s shared-hosting page and Funio’s plan comparison show the conflicting statements.

GreenGeeks says its accounts are backed up nightly. That is a provider statement; it does not, by itself, specify restore guarantees or replace checking the applicable account terms. Keep an independent copy of important site data and ask what recovery options apply to your plan. See GreenGeeks’ platform information.

Consider location, support, and environmental claims

Server regions

GreenGeeks names data-center regions in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and its data-center page describes four global locations. These statements can help you ask where a particular account would be hosted, but they do not establish which location will be assigned to you or how fast your site will be for its audience. Confirm the available location for your plan. Funio’s cited pages do not establish a comparable list of data-center regions. See GreenGeeks’ platform page and its data-center information.

Support channels and scope

Funio lists 24/7 support and cPanel on its public hosting pages. GreenGeeks says support is available 24×7 through live chat, phone, and tickets; its policy also identifies issues that require particular ticket handling or fall outside support scope. These are stated channels and inclusions, not evidence of response times or support quality. Read GreenGeeks’ support policy and verify which issues your plan’s support covers.

Uptime and sustainability statements

GreenGeeks states a 99.9% uptime guarantee and says it matches every watt used by 300% with renewable energy. Treat these as company claims, not independently verified measurements or audits. The collected provider information does not establish a comparable Funio sustainability figure or a verified uptime dataset covering both hosts. See GreenGeeks’ platform claims and its data-center and energy information.

How to choose for your site

  • Consider Funio if its listed cPanel shared tiers suit your setup and the exact plan’s site, email, database, CPU, RAM, and storage limits meet your needs. Resolve the backup-retention discrepancy and calculate the renewal cost before committing.
  • Consider GreenGeeks if its published disk tiers and hosted-domain allowances fit your site, and its stated nightly backups, named regions, support channels, or renewable-energy claim matter to you. Confirm the actual location, contract total, renewal terms, and restore provisions for the plan you intend to buy.
  • For either host, choose capacity based on your current site and credible near-term growth. Confirm what “unlimited” or “unmetered” means in the applicable terms, rather than treating the label as a measurable resource ceiling.

What the available evidence cannot settle

The provider pages do not establish which host is faster, more reliable in practice, or better supported. A TechRadar review dated November 26, 2025, reports its own GreenGeeks tests, but it is not a Funio-versus-GreenGeeks comparison and does not establish a current head-to-head result. Do not treat either provider’s uptime statement or a single-host review as proof that one wins this comparison. See TechRadar’s GreenGeeks review.
