Bhagwati Products’ documented path runs from manufacturing consumer electronics for Micromax to an enterprise-storage venture and plans for broader IT hardware. Its AI-infrastructure connection is real but specific: MiPhi makes enterprise SSDs for servers, while Bhagwati’s own server ambitions remain plans reported by company leadership—not proof that it already sells AI servers. The available history does not substantiate the title’s “PCO pioneers” phrase or establish one definitive Indian stereotype that Bhagwati alone has broken.
What Bhagwati Products is—and how it began
Bhagwati Products describes itself as an Indian electronics manufacturer founded in 2010 and a collaboration between Micromax Informatics and Huaqin Technology. Its company profile lists mobile phones, televisions, tablets, batteries, chargers and other electronics. Company Profile
A 2016 Indian School of Business case synopsis frames Bhagwati historically as Micromax’s production facility or arm. It describes a shift from reliance on Chinese and Taiwanese handset manufacturing toward local production and indigenous design capability. That synopsis is a teaching-case description, not evidence that every later product category was being made at the time. ISB case description

How its manufacturing footprint expanded
Bhagwati’s own profile records TV and tablet production at Rudrapur in 2012–13, followed by smartphone production in 2013–14. It then lists expansion to Hyderabad and Bhiwadi and subsequent SMT and automation milestones. The company identifies a Greater Noida factory and a Huaqin joint venture as 2024 milestones. These dates and descriptions are the company’s account of its development. Company Profile

Where the AI-server connection comes from
First came a stated interest in AI data-center storage
In a September 2024 interview, The Economic Times reported that Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma planned to explore AI hardware through custom memory and storage solutions for AI data centers. That was a strategy, not an announcement that Bhagwati had launched a branded AI server. The Economic Times, 18 September 2024

MiPhi adds an operating enterprise-storage business
The New Indian Express reported on 14 September 2026 that Micromax and Taiwan’s Phison formed MiPhi, a 55:45 venture. The report says MiPhi manufactures enterprise SSDs in India for servers and other applications. This is the clearest documented link between the wider business and server infrastructure: enterprise storage is a server component, but it is not the same thing as a complete AI server. Servers and other IT hardware are described as plans
The New Indian Express reported Bhagwati’s plans to enter IT hardware with laptops, desktops, servers, switches and routers, based on comments by the company’s co-founder. An August 2026 Entrepreneur India interview likewise described three intended ecosystems: smartphones and adjacent devices; IT products such as laptops, servers, desktops, switches and routers; and automotive electronics. These interviews support a strategic direction, not confirmation that all those product lines have launched. The New Indian Express, 14 September 2026 Entrepreneur India, 25 August 2026

- Consumer manufacturing: Bhagwati’s profile and the ISB case connect its early story to local production associated with Micromax.
- Broader electronics scope: The company’s current public categories extend beyond phones, though category listings alone do not prove production volumes or availability.
- Data-center relevance: MiPhi’s reported enterprise SSD manufacturing is an operating storage link to servers.
- AI servers: The sources establish interest in AI-data-center storage and plans for server hardware, not a launched Bhagwati-branded AI server.
- “PCO pioneers”: The available sources do not connect Bhagwati’s electronics business to public call office operations or substantiate that part of the framing.
So the meaningful story is not that one company has conclusively overturned a single national stereotype. It is that Bhagwati’s documented trajectory reflects an expanding set of Indian electronics-manufacturing ambitions—from locally producing consumer devices to enterprise storage and planned IT infrastructure.
