Freedcamp publishes meaningful security and recovery measures, but its public documentation does not independently verify them or establish a measurable uptime record. The company describes encryption, restricted staff access, security audits and redundant backups. Its terms also disclaim uninterrupted service, so teams handling sensitive or business-critical work should verify plan-specific controls and recovery options before relying on it.
What security protections does Freedcamp say it uses?
Freedcamp’s Security Practices page, updated 22 August 2026, says it encrypts traffic in transit and data at rest, limits employee access to cases where access is necessary, patches hosts and databases, monitors for intrusions, centralizes security and availability logs, and maintains incident-management procedures. It also says it will promptly notify customers if unauthorized access to their user data occurs. These are the provider’s descriptions of its practices, not independent verification of their effectiveness.
Freedcamp says it contracts with two external security firms for audits four times a year and uses continuous hybrid automated scanning of its web platform. The page does not publish audit reports, scope, criteria, findings or remediation status. The stated frequency is not proof of a particular certification or a clean audit result.
Hosting certifications are not necessarily Freedcamp certifications
The security page says the hosting environment’s data centers maintain certifications and reports including ISO 27001 compliance, PCI certification and SOC reports, and points readers to AWS security and compliance resources. That wording refers to the hosting environment and data centers; it does not establish that Freedcamp itself holds ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification. Organizations that require a formal assurance should ask Freedcamp for current documentation that identifies the scope and covered services.

How do Freedcamp’s backups and recovery work?
Freedcamp says user data is stored redundantly in multiple locations at its hosting provider. Its security page describes automatic backups that support recovery with one-minute precision for the last 30 days. This is a provider-stated recovery capability, not an independently tested restoration result or a customer-facing recovery-time guarantee.
The same page says administrators of paid service versions have a backup service. Freedcamp’s Terms of Service qualify backups as included only when they are part of the customer’s plan, with 90-day retention for included backups. Ask which backup and restore functions apply to your plan, who can initiate a restore, and how long recovery takes in practice. Keep an independent export or backup if your continuity requirements call for one.
What happens to data when an account is deleted?
Freedcamp’s Privacy Policy says account information may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion, in part to allow recovery from mistaken or compromised deletion and because backups have lifecycle limits. It also says information may be retained for legal obligations, disputes, enforcement of agreements and business operations. Deleting an account should therefore not be assumed to erase all information immediately from every system.

The policy says Freedcamp uses hosting providers in the United States and may use third parties for hosting, maintenance, backup, storage, virtual infrastructure, payments, analytics and other functions. It says providers act under Freedcamp’s instructions and policies. If you connect third-party applications, review their privacy terms and permissions separately; Freedcamp’s policy does not govern those apps’ handling of personal information.

The policy page labels its effective date as 10 May 2018 and lists an update to its Data Privacy Framework wording on 10 June 2024. Check the live policy for any later changes. Freedcamp also cautions that no security system is impenetrable and says it cannot guarantee data is absolutely safe from intrusion during transmission or while stored on its systems or otherwise in its care.
Is Freedcamp reliable enough for business-critical work?
Freedcamp describes infrastructure designed to tolerate failure of individual servers or entire data centers, regular disaster-recovery exercises, redundant storage and an around-the-clock on-call team. These are descriptions of architecture and operating procedures, not measured availability results.
Rank #4
The public sources reviewed do not establish an official Freedcamp status page, a current uptime percentage or a complete recent incident history. That absence does not prove the service is unreliable; it means reliability cannot be quantified from those sources. Freedcamp’s terms say maintenance or other causes may disrupt service and that it will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice. They disclaim a warranty that the service will be “uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free or virus-free.” The terms also place responsibility on users for adequate security, protection and backup of their data.
What do independent reviews tell you—and what do they not?
Cloudwards’ Freedcamp review, updated 23 July 2026, describes the public security detail as limited and flags security features as an area of concern. It discusses SAML and two-factor authentication availability by plan; confirm current availability and terms directly with Freedcamp because plan details can change. The review is an editorial assessment, not an audit or evidence of a breach.
Best Value
Capterra’s Freedcamp review page, updated 29 September 2026, displays an overall rating of 4.7 from 503 reviews. User ratings can provide context about customer experience, but they do not measure cybersecurity or establish an uptime record.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you verify before choosing Freedcamp?
- Assurance: Request current audit evidence and confirm its scope, coverage and any exceptions relevant to your use.
- Account security: Confirm which authentication methods, administrator controls and access-management features are available on the plan you intend to use.
- Data handling: Check data location, subprocessors, connected-app permissions and applicable retention terms.
- Recovery: Confirm whether backups are included, their retention, restoration steps and expected recovery support; test export and restore procedures where possible.
- Continuity: Ask about incident notification and contractual availability commitments, and keep independent copies if downtime or data loss would disrupt operations.
For a consistent evaluation against another service, compare evidence on certification scope, authentication by plan, encryption and key management, data residency and subprocessors, audit-report access, backup and restoration, incident disclosure, status history, uptime measurement, exports and contractual availability. Avoid treating a provider’s architecture claims or customer ratings as substitutes for those records.
