There is no single legal website that streams every major live sport for free in the United States. Broadcast rights are divided among leagues, local stations, broadcast networks, cable networks, and paid streaming services. However, several legitimate free platforms provide selected live games and events, free sports channels, replays, highlights, or sports news.

For the best legal starting points, check Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, CBS Sports, FIFA+, and Red Bull TV. If you have an eligible internet or television provider, ESPN3 may also provide selected events at no additional charge. For major local broadcasts, an over-the-air antenna is often more useful than a free streaming website.

What you can realistically watch for free

Legitimate free sports services usually offer one or more of the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Free ad-supported sports channels
  • Sports news, scores, analysis, and highlights
  • Replays and condensed games
  • Niche sports and action sports
  • Selected international matches
  • Occasional live games or events under a specific rights agreement

They generally do not provide every live NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college, or pay-per-view event. A service may show a league’s channel or highlights while lacking the live video rights to that league’s games.

1. Tubi

Tubi Live TV is a free, ad-supported service with a U.S. live-TV lineup that includes sports-oriented channels such as FOX Sports, NFL Channel, and fubo Sports Network, along with other sports programming. It works on the web and on supported devices including Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, Samsung TVs, LG TVs, Vizio TVs, iOS, Android, Xbox, Comcast devices, and others. See Tubi’s device and sports availability information for current support.

How to find live sports on Tubi

  1. Open Tubi Live TV.
  2. Select Live TV.
  3. Browse the channel guide or search for a channel such as NFL Channel.
  4. Select the channel or event.
  5. Sign in or create a free Tubi account if the particular event requires one.

Tubi’s sports inventory changes as licensing agreements change. A channel labeled FOX Sports does not mean every FOX, FS1, or regional FOX Sports game is available. Likewise, an NFL-related channel does not provide the full NFL game schedule. Tubi also notes that some live sports streams, including NFL-related streams, may be U.S.-only.

Limited 2026 FIFA World Cup arrangement

Tubi announced that it would stream the opening ceremony and two selected 2026 FIFA World Cup matches live and free in 4K in the United States, using a free Tubi account on supported devices. This is a limited, event-specific arrangement—not access to every World Cup match or every FOX sports broadcast. Check the Tubi announcement and the live guide for the current schedule.

2. Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free, ad-supported service with a live channel guide and sports programming. It is most useful for sports news, highlights, replays, niche sports, and selected live events rather than for finding every game in a major league.

How to browse sports on Pluto TV

  1. Open Pluto TV.
  2. Select Live TV or open the channel guide.
  3. Browse the Sports category.
  4. Choose a program currently marked live.

Pluto TV may carry a sports-branded channel without carrying the complete live feed of the associated cable network or league. Major games can be absent when a broadcaster, cable network, or paid streaming service has exclusive rights.

3. The Roku Channel

The Roku Channel offers more than 500 free live channels, including sports channels. It is particularly convenient if you already use a Roku TV or Roku streaming device, but its live-TV section is also available on the web.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Roku warns that some channels shown through its interface may require a subscription. A lock icon, purchase prompt, or subscription request means that channel is not included in the free tier.

How to watch sports on a Roku device

  1. From the Roku Home screen, open The Roku Channel.
  2. Select Live TV.
  3. Open the Live TV Channel Guide.
  4. Browse the Sports category.
  5. Select a channel and press OK.

On the web, open Roku’s live-TV section and choose a channel from the guide. Device, country, and channel availability can differ.

4. CBS Sports

CBS Sports Live provides CBS Sports HQ, a free 24/7 streaming sports-news network with live anchored coverage, highlights, analysis, and scores. It may also list individual live-event streams.

How to find free CBS Sports streams

  1. Open CBS Sports.
  2. Select Watch.
  3. Select Live.
  4. Choose CBS Sports HQ or another stream marked as available.

Event tiles are event-specific. Some are free, while others require provider authentication or a subscription. CBS Sports HQ is not the same as the full CBS Sports Network cable feed, and access to HQ does not automatically include NFL games, Champions League matches, or all college sports.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. FIFA+

FIFA+ is FIFA’s free official football platform. It offers selected live matches, FIFA archives, documentaries, and original programming. FIFA describes the platform as free, but the live schedule depends on territory and rights.

How to check live matches on FIFA+

  1. Open FIFA+.
  2. Select Live or browse the home page’s live-event listings.
  3. Choose a match marked live or upcoming.
  4. Sign in if FIFA+ requests an account.

A match may appear in FIFA+ search results or archives without being available as a live stream in the United States. U.S. broadcast exclusivity can prevent a live stream even when FIFA+ carries the same competition in another country. The What’s Live on FIFA+ page is the better source for checking current availability.

6. Red Bull TV

Red Bull TV provides free live coverage of selected Red Bull events. Its strongest categories include motorsports, mountain biking, surfing, cliff diving, skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, padel, and other action sports.

How to watch an event

  1. Open Red Bull’s live-events page.
  2. Choose an event marked Upcoming Live Stream or one that is currently live.
  3. Select View Event Info or the play option.

Red Bull TV frequently has geographic restrictions. An event listed on the global site may be unavailable in the United States if another broadcaster owns the local rights.

7. ESPN3: free only with eligible provider access

ESPN3 is not universally free. ESPN says customers of participating high-speed internet providers may receive access to ESPN3 events online without a separate ESPN subscription. In practice, the service is free as an included provider benefit, not as an unrestricted public stream.

How to check ESPN3 access

  1. Open ESPN Watch.
  2. Select the ESPN3 event.
  3. Choose Log In or the provider-authentication option.
  4. Select your participating internet or TV provider.
  5. Enter your provider credentials.

If your provider is not eligible, ESPN may show a subscription or provider-login prompt. A free ESPN account alone generally does not unlock provider-authenticated ESPN3 events.

8. NFL Channel: useful NFL programming, but no live games

NFL Channel is a free, always-on channel available through the NFL app and partner platforms including Amazon, LG, Peacock, Plex, Pluto TV, Roku, Samsung, TCL, Tubi, Vizio, and Xumo.

Its programming includes replays, original shows, highlights, analysis, and live game-day coverage. The NFL explicitly states that there are no live NFL games on NFL Channel. “Live game-day coverage” means real-time scores, statistics, highlights, and updates—not the live video broadcast of the game.

  • 16FT Coax Cable: Coaxial cable is composed of a solid center conductor, dielectric insulation, three aluminum shielding layers, and a durable outer layer. so that you will never lose signal or suffer distortion even in bad weather.
  • Compatibility and Usage Tips: Not suitable for older analog televisions; supports smart TVs and digital TVs. For optimal signal reception, try placing the antenna near a window or in other locations, and test both vertical and horizontal orientations.
  • Easy to Install: Plug the coaxial cable from your digital indoor HDTV antenna into the ANT/IN connector on the back of your TV, point the TV antenna toward your local TV tower and scan for channels. (Check "dtv gov maps" for available channels).

Free local broadcasts: an antenna may be the better option

For many major events, the most reliable no-subscription option is an over-the-air antenna receiving local broadcast stations. Depending on your location and the schedule, local ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, or other broadcast stations may carry NFL, college sports, MLB, NASCAR, soccer, and major national events.

The FCC recognizes free over-the-air television as a broadcast service with no direct viewing charge. An antenna requires a one-time hardware purchase, so it is not technically a free streaming website, but it can provide live local sports without a monthly subscription. Reception depends on your distance from broadcast towers, terrain, building materials, and antenna placement. Check your local station listings before buying equipment.

Some network apps and station websites also stream selected events, but access may require authentication with a participating television provider. Special events can sometimes be streamed free by the broadcaster.

What “free” means on sports sites

Before expecting to watch a particular game, identify which kind of free content the site is offering:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Listing or label What it may actually provide
Live sports channel A continuous channel of news, highlights, replays, analysis, or selected events
Live event The live video of one specific event, subject to territory and rights restrictions
Game-day coverage Live scores, statistics, commentary, and highlights rather than the full game
Replay or archive A previous game or event, not the current live broadcast
Free with provider Access included with an eligible internet or television plan
Free trial Temporary access to a subscription service that may automatically renew

A channel name is not proof that the channel carries the parent network’s complete schedule. NFL Channel does not show live NFL games; CBS Sports HQ is not the complete CBS Sports Network feed; FOX Sports on Tubi does not mean every FOX or FS1 event is free; and sports channels on Pluto TV or The Roku Channel may show only selected programming.

Free trials are not permanently free streaming sites

YouTube TV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, and similar services sometimes offer free trials or introductory pricing. These are subscription services with temporary promotions, not permanently free sports-streaming websites.

Trial length, eligibility, required payment details, price after the trial, and automatic renewal can change. For example, YouTube TV’s sports offer currently advertises a limited 10-day trial for eligible new users, followed by the normal subscription price unless canceled. The offer page includes an expiration date and terms, so verify the details immediately before signing up at YouTube TV’s live sports offer page.

How to find a specific game legally

  1. Start with the league’s official schedule. Locate the game and select its official Watch, Where to Watch, or broadcast information.
  2. Identify the rights holder. Determine whether the event is on a local broadcast station, cable network, league service, or paid streaming platform.
  3. Check the free options. Search Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, CBS Sports, FIFA+, or Red Bull TV only when the event is specifically listed.
  4. Check local broadcast reception. If the game is on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, or another local station, an antenna may provide the most dependable no-monthly-fee option.
  5. Check provider benefits. If the listing says ESPN3 or requires TV-provider authentication, test your internet or television credentials.
  6. Confirm on the day. Rights and regional availability can change, and an archive or channel listing is not proof of a live U.S. stream.

Why a legal stream may be unavailable in your location

Sports rights are territorial. A platform can be official and free in one country but unavailable, delayed, or subscription-only in the United States. The same competition may therefore appear in a platform’s global search results while its U.S. live stream is blocked.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

Using a VPN to appear in another country may violate a service’s terms and can cause playback or account problems. It is not a reliable substitute for having the rights to watch an event in the United States.

How to recognize unsafe unofficial streaming sites

A site offering current pay-TV games, every major league, and pay-per-view events without a recognizable broadcaster, league, or platform relationship is likely unauthorized. Search results can also lead to outdated domains, cloned services, or sites that imitate ESPN, FOX, CBS, NBC, the NFL, FIFA, or another rights holder.

The safest approach is to begin at the official league, broadcaster, or platform domain rather than clicking an unfamiliar “watch free” result.

Warning signs

  • It promises every major league and pay-per-view event for free.
  • It requires an unknown player, browser extension, APK, or add-on.
  • It opens repeated pop-ups or redirects.
  • It asks for credit-card details to verify a supposedly free stream.
  • The domain imitates a well-known broadcaster or league.
  • It has no identifiable company, rights statement, privacy policy, or customer-support information.
  • The stream repeatedly moves to mirror domains.

Unauthorized streaming sites can create both legal and security risks. The U.S. Department of Justice reported seizing more than 1,000 domains used to stream 2026 World Cup matches without authorization and warned that operators may inject malware or steal payment information. The FTC warns that illegal streaming apps and add-ons can install malware, generate pop-ups, redirect users to unwanted sites, steal payment information and login credentials, and potentially expose other devices on the same network.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you already opened a suspicious stream

  1. Close the tab and do not download the offered player, extension, APK, or add-on.
  2. Do not enter payment details, email passwords, or streaming-service credentials.
  3. Remove any unfamiliar extension or application you installed.
  4. Run a security scan and update your browser, operating system, and security software.
  5. Change any password entered on the site, especially if you reused it elsewhere, and enable multifactor authentication.
  6. Contact your card issuer promptly if you entered payment information.

Which option should you try first?

  • For a major U.S. game: Check the official league schedule, the local broadcaster, and an antenna first. Free streaming availability is often limited.
  • For sports news and highlights: Try CBS Sports HQ, Pluto TV, Tubi, or the NFL Channel.
  • For free sports channels: Compare Tubi, Pluto TV, and The Roku Channel.
  • For international football: Check FIFA+ and confirm that the match is live and available in the United States.
  • For action sports and motorsports: Check Red Bull TV’s live-events calendar.
  • For selected college events: Try ESPN3 if your internet or TV provider is eligible.
  • For local broadcast sports: Use an antenna or the broadcaster’s official app when you have the required provider authentication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I watch every NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL game free online?

No. There is no single legal U.S. website that streams every major league game for free. Free services provide selected events, sports channels, news, highlights, or replays. For a particular game, check the league’s official schedule and the listed broadcaster.

Does NFL Channel show live NFL games?

No. NFL Channel is a free 24/7 channel for replays, shows, highlights, analysis, and live game-day updates. The NFL says it does not carry live NFL game video.

Is ESPN3 free?

ESPN3 can be available at no additional charge to customers of participating internet or TV providers. You normally need to authenticate with that provider; a free ESPN account by itself generally is not enough.

Is an antenna a free way to watch live sports?

An antenna is not a streaming website and requires a one-time hardware purchase, but it can receive local ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and other broadcast stations without a monthly television subscription. The sports available depend on your location and local schedule.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are free trials the same as free sports-streaming sites?

No. A free trial is temporary access to a subscription service. It may require payment details and can automatically renew at the regular price unless canceled. Check the current terms, trial length, and cancellation deadline before subscribing.

Can I use a VPN to watch a free sports stream from another country?

Availability is governed by territorial sports rights. VPN use may violate a service’s terms and can cause playback or account problems, so it is not a reliable substitute for authorized U.S. access.

The Bottom Line

For legitimate free sports streaming in the U.S., start with Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, CBS Sports, FIFA+, and Red Bull TV. Use ESPN3 when your provider includes it, and consider an antenna for local broadcast games. None of these options guarantees every major live event, so verify the specific game and your location before kickoff.
