A maker’s Reddit post about iHateIMG describes a free, browser-based image toolkit designed to combine common edits in one workflow. The post says the tool processes images locally and offers compression, resizing, cropping, format conversion, upscaling, background removal, watermarks, rotation, flipping, and a pipeline builder. Those are the maker’s claims, not independently verified product details; the post does not establish that iHateIMG is the tool named in the headline or confirm its advertising policy.
What prompted the maker to build an all-in-one image tool?
In the Reddit post introducing iHateIMG, the maker says they were frustrated by image-conversion sites that required uploading files for server processing, slowed the workflow, and presented a payment prompt when it was time to download. That is the maker’s account of their own experience, not evidence that all web converters work this way.
The idea behind iHateIMG, as described in the post, is to keep common image tasks together rather than sending a file through several separate services. The post does not mention ads, so it does not verify the ad-related part of the headline.

The maker lists a set of basic operations and a workflow feature intended to combine them:
#1 Best Overall
- One-click Process for Converting Your Images
- Convert Between All Key Image Format
- Preserve Vector Graphics When Converting
- Compress, resize, and crop images.
- Convert images to JPG.
- Upscale images by 2x, 3x, or 4x.
- Remove backgrounds and add watermarks.
- Rotate or flip images.
- Chain operations in a pipeline, such as compressing, resizing, and watermarking.
The maker describes the pipeline as a way to complete multiple operations without re-uploading between separate services. As the Reddit account puts it: “The pipeline feature is something I haven’t seen done well elsewhere — you can compress → resize → watermark in a single workflow without re-uploading.” This is the creator’s assessment, not an independent comparison of image tools.
What does the maker say about cost, limits, and file handling?
The maker says iHateIMG is free, requires no sign-up, has no premium tier, does not add an output watermark, and has no file-size limit. The same post describes processing as local to the browser. These details are creator-reported; the tool’s site could not be accessed to check its current operation, terms, or implementation. In particular, local-processing claims should not be treated as independently confirmed privacy guarantees.

An independent example of the broader category is imgbox’s about page, which describes browser-local image tools and common image operations. It does not verify anything about iHateIMG.
How can you convert PNG to JPG without overlooking quality?
For a practical conversion, choose the PNG image, select JPG as the output format, and inspect the result before using it. JPEG uses lossy compression: it can reduce file size by discarding image data, which may lower visual quality. Compare the converted image with the original, especially around fine details, text, or sharp edges. The maker’s post says iHateIMG converts to JPG, but it does not establish the tool’s output quality.

For iPhone users looking for “How do i turn off heic to jpg on iphone,” that is a separate device-setting question from converting an existing PNG. The cited converter guide records that query wording, but the available information here does not establish a current iOS setting path.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you verify before using iHateIMG?
Because the product site could not be checked, confirm that it is available and review its own current disclosures before handling sensitive or important images. A browser-based tool’s claim of local processing is not a substitute for verifying how that specific implementation behaves. For any conversion, keep the original file and check that the output dimensions, format, and appearance suit your needs.
