Fix a missing preview or failed connection
Check wireless settings and pairing mode
Confirm the camera’s wireless connections are enabled and that it is in its connection or pairing menu. Make sure the phone’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on, then select the camera in Quik and follow the prompts again. Menu labels vary by model.
Try 2.4 GHz if 5 GHz is unavailable
If your phone or region does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, check whether your camera lets you change its Wi-Fi band to 2.4 GHz. GoPro documents that option for LIT HERO and HERO10 Black; do not assume other models use the same setting or menu path. GoPro’s LIT HERO manual and HERO10 Black manual explain their model-specific wireless settings. The HERO10 manual calls 5 GHz “the fastest available” for that camera’s connection to mobile devices, but that statement is specific to its context.

Check model and recording support
If pairing succeeds but preview remains unavailable—or you want to preview while recording—check the documentation for your exact camera model and phone platform. GoPro’s stated support for one model does not establish compatibility for every model, app version, phone operating system, or preview-and-recording combination.

Live preview is not live streaming
Live preview shows the camera’s view in Quik so you can check framing and control capture. Live streaming broadcasts video to a platform and requires a separate setup. GoPro describes streaming through Quik as requiring an RTMP URL, a third-party app and account, a compatible HERO7 Black or later camera, and one of the select capture modes it supports. Pairing for preview does not configure a stream; see GoPro’s live-streaming instructions for that separate process.
