Forza Horizon 6’s first Premium Expansion launches on January 21, 2027, across all platforms. Playground Games has confirmed that it will add a new location, vehicles, and gameplay, but it has not revealed where the expansion takes place or named any specific additions.
When does the first Forza Horizon 6 expansion come out?
Playground Games announced the January 21, 2027 release date on October 8, 2026. The date applies to the first Premium Expansion on all platforms, according to the official Forza announcement. The official Forza game page also lists the expansion for January 21.
That date is separate from the PlayStation 5 base-game schedule: Standard and Deluxe editions launch on January 26, 2027, while Premium Edition early access begins January 21. The announcement also says the PS5 game will be available on disc at supporting retailers; it does not say the disc includes the expansion.
Has Playground Games revealed what the expansion will look like?
No setting, visual details, or specific content have been announced in the official materials cited here. The confirmed description is limited to a new location, vehicles, and gameplay. The earlier official preorder announcement described the post-launch expansions in those broad terms, and the October 2026 announcement set the first one’s date without identifying its location.
#1 Best Overall
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
So there is not yet a confirmed map, theme, car list, or named gameplay feature to assess. Any claim about where the expansion goes or what it adds beyond those broad categories would be speculation.
How can players get Expansion 1?
Playground Games says the first expansion will be included with Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, and Expansions Bundle, and will also be available separately. The Steam listing states that Expansion 1 requires Forza Horizon 6. The PS5 disc announcement identifies a physical base-game option, not an expansion entitlement.
Rank #2
- PREMIUM EDITION — Includes the full game, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions (coming post launch).

Choose based on what you already own and what you want: if you have the base game, the separately sold expansion or an eligible upgrade/bundle is the relevant route; if you are buying the game, check that your selected edition explicitly includes Expansion 1.
What else is planned for January?
A free content update is planned alongside the PS5 launch and expansion, but its details have not yet been announced. The January 21 date is confirmed for the expansion and Premium Edition early access on PS5; Standard and Deluxe PS5 players start on January 26.
