The lowest reported price is a $42 physical Xbox Series X copy at Walmart, noted in a Reddit deal report dated October 12, 2026. That figure is not a confirmed nationwide price, so check your local Walmart listing, seller, stock and delivery charges before ordering. Microsoft’s official digital Standard Edition offer was $55.99, down from $69.99, but the 20% promotion ended October 8. No directly verifiable Amazon product page or current Amazon price is established here, so treat any Amazon headline price as unconfirmed until you see a live listing.
What the reported prices actually represent
Forza Horizon 6 launched on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Playground Games began Premium Edition early access on May 15. The game is set in Japan and includes more than 550 real-world cars. Xbox lists support for Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10 and Windows 11, plus Xbox Play Anywhere.
| Offer | Price | What it is | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart | $42 | Reported Xbox Series X physical copy | Reddit deal report dated October 12, 2026; 34% below a reported usual $63.92 price. Stock, region and continued availability require a live check. |
| Microsoft Store Standard Edition | $69.99 list; $55.99 sale | Digital Microsoft Store entitlement | The 20% offer ended October 8, 2026. The figures do not establish a disc price. |
| Premium Edition digital code | $59.99 | Community-reported code | Repeated in a deal report; retailer, region, redemption terms and current status are not independently established. |
A $42 disc and a $55.99 digital license are not interchangeable products. A disc normally requires a console with a disc drive, while a code or Microsoft Store purchase is tied to the account that redeems it. Confirm the format before comparing the headline numbers.
How to check a Walmart or Amazon listing safely
- Confirm the platform. Look for “Xbox Series X” or “Xbox Series X|S.” Do not assume an Xbox label means a physical disc; the listing may be a digital code.
- Identify the edition. Check whether the page says Standard, Deluxe or Premium. The available reports establish prices for Standard and Premium, but they do not establish the add-ons included with every edition.
- Inspect the seller and fulfillment. Record the seller name, shipping charge, tax estimate, dispatch date and return policy. Marketplace offers can differ from the retailer’s own inventory.
- Check stock for your address. Enter your delivery ZIP or region and place the item in the cart. A search-result price can disappear at checkout or apply only to pickup at selected stores.
- Verify redemption geography for codes. A digital code can be region restricted. A Microsoft Store purchase should show the account and platform on which the entitlement will be usable.
- Capture the final total. Compare the delivered price, not just the pre-tax headline. Keep a screenshot or order confirmation if a deal is unusually low.
No directly verifiable Amazon product page or current Amazon price was available for this comparison. That means an Amazon result should be treated as a lead to check, not as confirmation that Amazon matches Walmart’s reported $42.

Physical copy versus digital purchase
Physical Xbox Series X copy
- Requires a disc-capable Xbox Series X console; a digital-only console cannot read it.
- Can be resold or lent subject to the retailer’s return rules and the condition of the disc.
- Availability and price can vary by store, region and shipping inventory, which is why the $42 Walmart report needs a local check.
Digital code or Microsoft Store license
- Redeems to a Microsoft account and does not require a disc.
- Xbox Play Anywhere support allows the entitlement to work across supported Xbox and Windows devices, subject to the account and platform requirements shown by Xbox.
- Codes may have region or seller restrictions. Microsoft Store pricing is not evidence of what a physical retailer is charging.
Game Pass may be cheaper than buying a copy
Xbox says the Standard Edition is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. If you already subscribe, check the Game Pass catalog on your account before purchasing a disc or code. Availability can change, and access through a subscription is different from owning a perpetual license: removing the game from the catalog or ending the subscription can affect access.
Why the “new low” headline needs caution
The Walmart number comes from a community deal report, not a verified nationwide Walmart price feed. The report says $42 was 34% below a usual $63.92, but it does not prove that every store, delivery region or seller had that price, nor that the offer remained active after October 12.

The Microsoft Store’s $55.99 Standard Edition price was a dated 20% promotion that ended October 8. After that date, the listed $69.99 price may apply unless Microsoft starts another promotion. A digital Premium code reported at $59.99 is a separate community observation and should not be treated as an official Microsoft price.
Best buying decision by situation
You have a disc-drive Xbox Series X
Check Walmart first for the reported $42 physical copy, then compare the complete delivered total with any live Amazon offer. Buy only when the page clearly identifies an Xbox Series X disc and the return policy is acceptable.

You use a digital-only console or play on PC
Compare a live Microsoft Store price, a reputable digital code and your existing Game Pass benefits. The $55.99 Microsoft figure was promotional and expired, so do not assume it is still available.
You want Premium Edition content
Verify the edition name and exactly what the seller says is included. The available price reports establish a $59.99 Premium digital-code observation, but not its current seller, region eligibility or add-on list.
Rank #4
- DELUXE EDITION — Includes the full game, Welcome Pack, and Car Pass, delivering 30 additional cars to your garage with one new car released each week.
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.

- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
Bottom line
Walmart’s reported $42 Xbox Series X copy is the standout low price, but it is a dated, community-sourced observation that must be verified by location and checkout. Microsoft’s official Standard Edition offer was $55.99 until October 8, versus a $69.99 list price. Amazon’s current price is not established here; check a live listing and distinguish a physical disc from a digital code before calling it the cheapest option.
