There is no single “best” Forza Horizon 6 (FH6) setup. The right values depend on your controller or wheel model, platform, firmware, driving style and the feel you want. Start with the device-specific guidance below, change only a few settings at a time, and compare the same car on the same road. The available evidence does not show that any setting or device universally improves lap times.
What FH6 supports
Playground Games says FH6 keeps the robust controller support found in Forza Horizon 5 and that every steering wheel compatible with FH5 will also be supported in FH6. This is a broad compatibility statement, not a model-by-model list for every console, PC configuration or driver version. If you are unsure about a particular wheel, check its manufacturer’s FH6 support information for your exact platform, firmware and wheel-base revision.
Playground Games also confirms full controller remapping on all platforms, along with returning difficulty and driving-assist options. You can therefore change button assignments and assists to suit your hands and experience, but no official FH6 source gives numerical recommendations for controller sensitivity, steering linearity or deadzones.
Choose your input before changing values

Controller settings for steadier steering
Begin with remapping, not invented sensitivity numbers
Open FH6’s controller-mapping screen and assign throttle, brake, steering, handbrake, clutch and camera controls where your fingers can reach them without lifting your main grip. Full remapping is an official feature, so use it to remove awkward combinations or place frequently used controls on buttons you can press consistently.

The available official material does not publish a controller “best sensitivity” preset. It also does not establish universal deadzone, steering-linearity or stick-response numbers. Treat online tables that present one numerical controller setup as personal preference unless they identify a tested method and your exact platform and controller.
Use assists as a handling decision
FH6 retains difficulty settings and driving assists. If the car feels nervous, first decide whether you need more stability or more direct control:
- Keep the assists that prevent accidental overcorrection while you learn a car.
- Reduce assists one at a time when you want a more direct response, rather than changing several steering-related options together.
- For drifting, expect a different balance between correction speed and stability than for circuit or road racing.
These choices affect how the game filters or limits your inputs; they are not evidence that a particular controller is inherently more precise.

A repeatable controller adjustment routine
- Choose one car and one familiar road section with a mix of corners.
- Record how the car reacts to a small stick movement, a full-lock input and a rapid left-right correction.
- Change one mapping or assist setting, then drive the same section again.
- Keep the change only if it makes the response easier for you to control without creating a new problem, such as delayed turn-in or oscillation.
This is practical tuning advice, not a validated test procedure. No cited source provides a controlled comparison proving that a controller value improves handling or lap time.
Wheel settings: a documented Fanatec starting point
Fanatec’s “Forza Horizon 6 – Recommended Settings” guide, last updated May 15, 2026, is the clearest published starting point for Fanatec owners. Its numbers are for Fanatec equipment and should not be treated as universal wheel settings.

The same Fanatec guide supplies additional tuning-menu values by wheel base, including separate tables for Podium DD1/DD2 and CSL DD/GT DD Pro. Those values belong to the exact base and platform listed in the guide. Do not combine one base’s tuning-menu numbers with another base’s table, and do not copy them to a different manufacturer.

How to apply the Fanatec starting point
- Update the wheel base and, where relevant, the steering-wheel firmware using the manufacturer’s current process for your platform.
- Connect the wheel before launching FH6 and confirm that steering, throttle and brake inputs register correctly.
- In FH6, set Difficulty → Steering to Simulation.
- In Advanced Controls, set Invert Force Feedback to Off and Wheel Damper Scale to 0.2.
- If you are on Xbox and using the Fanatec configuration covered by the guide, start with Force Feedback Scale 1.5 and Steering Rotation 1440.
- Use the exact wheel-base section of Fanatec’s guide for any separate base-tuning menu values.
- Drive one known route and change only one setting if the wheel is too heavy, too light, too slow to return or too abrupt.
Fanatec’s values are starting points, not a promise of a particular steering feel. A direct-drive base, belt-driven base and entry-level wheel can react very differently at the same displayed number.

The Logitech G923 report
A May 15, 2026 post in the Forza Horizon Community Forums described one Logitech G923 owner who felt FH6 force feedback was weaker than in FH5. The user reported “some improvement” after trying Force Feedback Scale 1.3, Force Feedback Minimum 1.3 and Steering Linearity 33. These are values from one person’s experiment, not Playground Games guidance, an independent test or a guarantee for other G923 units.

Diagnose before increasing force
- Check that FH6 detects the wheel and that the wheel’s own control panel or console menu shows the expected firmware and operating mode.
- Confirm that Invert Force Feedback is not reversing the intended direction.
- Make sure the wheel is receiving power directly and that cables are firmly seated.
- Check whether a platform-specific profile or tuning menu is overriding the game profile.
- Change one force-feedback control at a time; raising several values together can create clipping, excessive weight or a wheel that masks smaller surface details.
If the wheel is still weak after those checks, use the manufacturer’s support process for the exact model and platform. The cited material does not establish one universal Force Feedback Scale, Minimum Force, steering rotation or linearity value.

“Simulation” is a steering-mode choice, not a guarantee that every player will find the car easier to control. Fanatec recommends it for its FH6 configurations because it provides the steering behavior expected by that setup. A controller user or a wheel owner with a different base can prefer another mode depending on stick travel, rotation range, assists and driving style.
Evaluate the mode with the same car and route. Pay attention to initial turn-in, mid-corner corrections, the transition from grip to slide and how quickly the wheel or stick returns toward center. Keep the mode that gives you predictable control rather than selecting it because the label sounds more realistic.

Platform, wheel base and menu boundaries
Three kinds of settings can overlap:
- FH6 driving options: steering mode, force-feedback controls, rotation and other in-game values.
- Wheel-base or console tuning: manufacturer-specific parameters that can change the signal before FH6 receives it.
- Firmware and driver behavior: updates or compatibility modes that can alter detection and response.
A number in one layer is not automatically equivalent to the same number in another. Record where each value is entered, which platform you use and the exact wheel base. This prevents accidental mixing of an Xbox recommendation with a PC profile or of one base’s tuning table with another’s.
Drifting and the September 2026 Drift Attack update
Playground Games announced Drift Attack on August 26, 2026, as a shared-world drift feature arriving with the September series update. The announcement encourages turning off traction control for the activity and describes the objective as maintaining control while drifting.
That announcement establishes new drift content, not a wheel or controller preset. A drift setup may favor quicker corrections, a different steering rotation or a lighter feedback feel than a road-racing setup, but those choices remain preference-dependent. Change only one control at a time and return to your normal race profile when you leave the activity.
FH6 Limited Edition Controller: what the announcement does and does not say
Xbox announced a Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition Controller and Headset on April 20, 2026. It is an optional physical accessory. The announcement does not claim that it improves steering precision, handling or performance, and it does not establish current retail availability. Choose it for its design or features if those matter to you, not as evidence of a competitive handling advantage.
Compatibility checklist before you buy or troubleshoot
- Identify the exact wheel model and wheel-base revision, not just the product family.
- Confirm whether you are using Xbox or PC; manufacturer recommendations can differ by platform.
- Check FH6 support information from the wheel maker for firmware, drivers and operating mode.
- Verify that FH5 compatibility applies to your specific revision, since Playground Games’ statement is broad rather than a current model list.
- Connect the wheel before starting the game and test every axis and button.
- Save a baseline profile so you can restore it after an experiment.
A practical tuning worksheet
Write down the platform, wheel or controller model, firmware version, FH6 steering mode, force-feedback values, rotation and assists. Then make one change and note the result using the same car, road, weather and camera. Describe the outcome in control terms—such as “less oscillation on corner exit” or “too heavy around center”—instead of assuming that a stronger signal means better handling.
No source cited for FH6 settings reports measured lap-time gains, a controlled handling comparison or a universal winning preset. The most defensible approach is therefore device-specific configuration followed by small, reversible adjustments.
