Forza Horizon 6 does not have a feature officially documented as “Permanent Souvenirs.” The verified system is the Collection Journal, a digital record of mementos and discoveries made while exploring Japan. Your exploration earns stamps, and those stamps unlock progression rewards such as Barn Find Rumors, player homes and, with the first stamp, the buildable Estate.
The Journal can preserve photos of murals, landmarks and other notable places. That is different from placing a collectible in a garage or house: official descriptions confirm that homes display vehicles, but they do not confirm a dedicated way to display Journal photos, stamps or other discoveries as physical souvenirs.
What “permanent souvenirs” means in Forza Horizon 6
“Permanent Souvenirs” appears to be reader shorthand rather than a confirmed menu name. Playground Games and Xbox describe a Collection Journal that records personal discoveries during a drive across Japan. The Journal is persistent in the sense that it preserves your recorded experiences, but the available descriptions do not establish a separate inventory of objects called Permanent Souvenirs.

#1 Best Overall
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
That distinction matters when you are looking for an unlock prompt, a map icon or a display switch. A Journal entry, a stamp in the Discover Japan path and a physical collectible on the map are separate concepts unless the game’s current interface explicitly connects them.
How Collection Journal progression works
Seven Discover Japan stamps
Playground Games describes seven stamps in the Discover Japan progression path. You earn progress by finding things and completing activities around Japan. The documented examples include:
- Collecting and customizing cars.
- Photographing murals.
- Smashing mascots.
- Finding landmarks.
- Joining Mei on day tours.
- Completing Street Races and Touge Races.
- Earning income through the Raku-Raku food delivery job.
These activities are not presented as seven individual souvenir locations. They are examples of the exploration and play that advances your Discover Japan progress. If a guide tells you that every stamp is a hidden object to pick up, it is mixing up progression stamps with map collectibles.
What stamps unlock
As you obtain stamps, the progression path unlocks Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan. The first stamp introduces the Estate, a larger buildable space where you can construct and decorate an open-world location.
The practical sequence is therefore:
- Explore Japan and complete the activities that contribute to Discover Japan.
- Earn progress toward the next stamp.
- Collect the available stamp when the progression path awards it.
- Use the resulting unlocks, such as Barn Find Rumors or a newly available home, from the relevant game systems.
- Continue building your Journal through additional discoveries and saved photos.
The official descriptions do not provide a numbered list matching each of the seven stamps to a specific landmark, race or house. Treat the stamp path as a progression framework, not as an item-by-item souvenir checklist.
What the Journal actually saves
Photos of places and discoveries
The Collection Journal can hold photos of murals, landmarks and other notable spots. Saving a photo gives you a lasting record of that moment in your Journal. It does not, based on the published descriptions, convert the photographed location into a physical object that can be positioned in a room.

- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.

- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
This is useful for players who want a personal travel log. You can treat the Journal as an album of places you have found, while the stamp path measures broader exploration progress. The two systems complement each other, but they do not have the same function.

Stamps are progress markers
A stamp shows advancement through Discover Japan. It is not described as a decoration, a vehicle accessory or a prop that you can move around the Estate. Its documented effect is to unlock progression content, including Barn Find Rumors and homes.
Landmarks and murals are not automatically house decorations
Finding a landmark or photographing a mural can contribute to your exploration record. Nothing in the official descriptions says that the game automatically grants a miniature landmark, mural panel or Journal badge for placement in a garage. If a later game update adds such a feature, the in-game build menu should identify it directly; the currently documented Journal system does not.
Where you can display things
Player houses and garages
Xbox Wire describes eight player houses that can be unlocked around Japan. Each house functions as a fast-travel point and customization space. Every home includes a garage where you can decorate and display several vehicles.
This is confirmed vehicle display functionality. You can use a house garage as a meet-up or parking location for your cars, but that should not be read as confirmation that Journal entries or stamps can be mounted there. The published material does not identify a “display souvenir” command for those records.

The Estate is introduced after the first Discover Japan stamp. It is a larger buildable space than an ordinary player house and is intended for construction and decoration in the open world. The official October 2026 collaboration material also describes themed props that can dress up the Estate, garages and custom EventLab tracks.

Those props are build-mode objects. They are not identified as Collection Journal mementos, and the collaboration announcement does not establish that a saved photo, stamp or landmark entry can be converted into one of them.
Meet-up spots and parking
Official material asks players about favorite places to meet and park in Horizon Japan. That language concerns social meetups and vehicle placement, not a separate souvenir-storage system. A scenic parking location can be meaningful for your own playthrough, but it should not be treated as an official Journal display slot.
Journal records versus map collectibles
Forza Horizon 6 has several discovery categories that can appear as physical map collectibles. The official Xbox Store listing for the digital Treasure Map says it reveals locations for the following categories:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors| Treasure Map category | What the listing says |
|---|---|
| Bonus Boards | Locations are revealed by the add-on. |
| Barn Finds | Locations are revealed by the add-on, subject to gameplay unlocks. |
| Regional Mascots | Locations are revealed by the add-on. |
| Treasure Chests | Locations are revealed by the add-on. |
| Treasure Cars | Locations are revealed by the add-on. |
The listing also says that some collectibles become available only after gameplay unlocks them and explicitly excludes seasonal collectibles in the Festival Playlist.
It does not say that the Treasure Map locates Collection Journal mementos, saved photos, landmarks or stamps. Buying or using the map is therefore not a confirmed solution to a Journal-search problem. Use it for the five categories named in its listing, and rely on normal exploration and the game’s own Journal or progression screens for everything else.
How to build your Journal in practice
1. Start with the Discover Japan path
Open the game’s progression or exploration screens and identify the Discover Japan path. The exact menu wording can vary with the game’s release build or a later interface update, so follow the current on-screen label rather than searching for a menu called Permanent Souvenirs.

2. Mix activities instead of repeating one type
Stamp progress is tied to a range of discoveries and activities. Drive through new areas, photograph murals, look for landmarks, participate in Mei’s day tours, run Street and Touge Races, customize cars and complete Raku-Raku deliveries. A mixed route is more reliable than assuming that one collectible category alone advances every stamp.
3. Save photographs deliberately
When you reach a mural, landmark or notable place, use the game’s photo tools and save the image if you want it preserved as a Journal memento. A photo that is merely taken but not saved should not be assumed to become part of your permanent record.
4. Check for the next stamp and its unlock
After completing several activities, return to the Discover Japan progression view and check whether the next stamp is available. When a stamp unlocks a Barn Find Rumor, home or other reward, claim or activate it through the game’s indicated screen. The first stamp should introduce the Estate.
5. Visit newly unlocked homes
Homes provide fast travel, customization and garages for displaying several vehicles. Use them as practical bases for your exploration routes. They are confirmed vehicle spaces, not confirmed Journal-photo galleries.
6. Use the Estate for build-mode props
Once the Estate is available, experiment with its construction and decoration options. The documented themed props can be used in the Estate, garages and custom EventLab tracks. If a future update adds a Journal-display object, it should appear as a distinct build item or menu command; do not assume that every Journal entry is already placeable.
Can you display permanent souvenirs?
There is no confirmed answer that Journal souvenirs can be displayed as physical decorations. The evidence supports three different outcomes:

| Item or system | Confirmed function | Physical display confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Collection Journal photos | Preserve photos of murals, landmarks and notable places as personal mementos. | No dedicated house, garage or Estate display control is documented. |
| Discover Japan stamps | Track exploration progress and unlock rewards such as Barn Find Rumors and homes. | Not described as movable decorations. |
| Player-house garages | Customize and display several vehicles per home. | Yes, for vehicles. |
| Estate and themed props | Build and decorate an open-world space; use documented props in the Estate, garages and EventLab tracks. | Yes, for available build-mode props; Journal entries are not identified as props. |
If your goal is to show other players where you have been, the dependable options are a saved Journal photo, a customized vehicle parked at a house or Estate, or a themed build that represents the location. None of those should be described as a confirmed “permanent souvenir” display system.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Searching for an exact feature name
Searching the menus for “Permanent Souvenirs” can lead you away from the documented systems. Look for Collection Journal, Discover Japan, stamps, photos, homes, the Estate and the relevant collectible categories instead.
Assuming every collectible belongs to the Journal
Bonus Boards, Barn Finds, Regional Mascots, Treasure Chests and Treasure Cars are named Treasure Map categories. Their locations and unlock conditions are separate from the Journal’s record of personal discoveries.

Using the Treasure Map as a Journal locator
The Treasure Map listing does not mention Journal mementos, photos, landmarks or stamps. It is not documented as a required add-on for building your Journal.
Confusing a saved photo with a build object
A saved image can remain in your Journal without becoming a wall decoration or Estate prop. Check the build menu for an explicit object before promising that a photo can be placed.
Expecting exact souvenir coordinates
Official descriptions establish broad discovery categories across Japan, not an item-by-item list of Permanent Souvenirs with coordinates. Until the game labels a specific object, use the current map and Journal interface rather than relying on an unofficial name.
What is officially established—and what remains open
- The verified feature name is Collection Journal.
- The Journal records mementos from exploration in Japan.
- Saved photos can include murals, landmarks and notable places.
- Discover Japan contains seven stamps.
- Stamps unlock Barn Find Rumors and homes; the first stamp introduces the Estate.
- There are eight player houses, each with fast travel, customization and a garage for displaying several vehicles.
- The Treasure Map lists five hidden collectible categories and excludes seasonal Festival Playlist collectibles.
- No official description reviewed confirms a feature named Permanent Souvenirs, exact item-by-item souvenir locations or a dedicated physical display control for Journal discoveries.
For now, the safest interpretation is that “permanent souvenirs” means the lasting record created by your Collection Journal and saved photos, while vehicle display and build props belong to the homes, garages and Estate systems.
