Premium Edition is the only full-game edition that includes both announced Forza Horizon 6 expansions. Standard and Deluxe include the base game but no expansion content. Deluxe adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass, while Premium adds both expansions plus VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack and Italian Passion Car Pack.
If you already own the game, compare Premium Upgrade with the separate Expansions Bundle instead of buying the full game again. Expansion 1 is scheduled for January 21, 2027; Expansion 2 is included in the Premium products but has no announced release date yet.

Expansion 1
Expansion 1 is scheduled to launch on January 21, 2027 across the supported platforms. Playground Games has not supplied a name for it in the announcement cited here, so store listings should be checked for the current title and description. Premium owners receive access as part of the edition rather than buying Expansion 1 separately. It is also sold as an individual purchase, so owning Standard or Deluxe does not prevent you from adding it later.
Expansion 2
Expansion 2 is part of Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle. Its release is listed only as “available at a later date.” No more specific date or launch window has been announced in the official edition information reviewed for this comparison. Do not assume that a later date means it launches alongside Expansion 1.
Other Premium content
- VIP Membership
- Welcome Pack
- Car Pass
- Time Attack Car Pack
- Italian Passion Car Pack
These extras are separate from the two expansions. If you want the expansions but do not care about the other Premium add-ons, the Expansions Bundle is the more narrowly targeted product. If you want those extras as well and do not already own the game, Premium keeps the full game and add-ons in one edition.

What Standard Edition includes
Standard Edition includes the complete base game without either expansion. It is the lowest-commitment option for a player who wants to start with the main game and choose additional content later.
Standard does not include the Welcome Pack, Car Pass, VIP Membership or the two car packs listed with Premium. The official launch announcement says the Standard Edition is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass under the terms of those subscriptions. Subscription catalogs and eligibility can change, so verify the current listing on your platform before treating access as permanent ownership.
Standard is also the logical starting point if you are unsure whether you will want the expansions. You can later investigate Premium Upgrade, the Expansions Bundle or an individual expansion, provided the store offers an eligible product for your account and platform.
What Deluxe Edition adds—and what it does not
Deluxe Edition includes the full game, Welcome Pack and Car Pass. It does not list Expansion 1 or Expansion 2 as included content.

That makes Deluxe useful for someone who wants the base game with those two extras but does not want the complete Premium package. Buying Deluxe should not be treated as a way to reserve either expansion; you would need to purchase an eligible upgrade, the Expansions Bundle or an expansion separately when offered.
Deluxe therefore sits between the base-game-only Standard edition and the expansion-inclusive Premium edition. The distinction is about included add-ons, not a different core game or a smaller vehicle roster.
Premium Upgrade versus Expansions Bundle
Premium Upgrade
Premium Upgrade is an add-on, not a standalone copy of Forza Horizon 6. You must own the game separately, or qualify through the Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass terms stated in the Xbox and PC launch announcement. It includes both expansions and the other Premium add-ons: VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack and Italian Passion Car Pack.
This is the product to investigate if you already bought Standard or Deluxe. Confirm that the store recognizes your base-game license before purchasing; product eligibility can differ by platform, account and subscription status. Buying the Upgrade does not replace the base game, so it is not the right listing for someone who owns no game license.

The Expansions Bundle also requires the base game and contains only Expansion 1 and Expansion 2. It does not include the Premium-only extras listed above.
Choose this bundle when the expansion pair is your goal and you do not need VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, Car Pass or the two additional car packs. The bundle is also an option for existing owners who want to avoid purchasing the full game again. Check the listing carefully: an add-on bundle and a full-game edition may appear near each other in a digital storefront, but they do not provide the same license.
Release dates and platform differences
| Item | Availability or date | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S and PC game | Available as of October 13, 2026 | The official launch information lists Xbox app and Steam access; Standard is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass under the stated terms |
| Expansion 1 | January 21, 2027 | Included with Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle; also sold separately |
| Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 | January 26, 2027 for Standard and Deluxe | Playground Games announced a PS5 release and disc availability at supporting retailers |
| PS5 Premium early access | January 21, 2027 | Premium owners receive five-day early access before the Standard and Deluxe PS5 date |
| Expansion 2 | Available at a later date | No specific release timing has been announced in the cited official sources |
The five-day PS5 early-access period applies to Premium owners beginning January 21, while Standard and Deluxe PS5 editions are scheduled for January 26. Xbox Series X|S and PC players can access the game already as of the October 13, 2026 information date. The dates are platform-specific, so do not use the Xbox and PC availability date as the PS5 launch date.
How to choose the right product
You are buying the game for the first time
- Choose Premium Edition if you want both expansions and all listed Premium extras.
- Choose Deluxe Edition if you want the full game, Welcome Pack and Car Pass but not the expansions.
- Choose Standard Edition if you want only the base game for now.
You already own Standard or Deluxe
- Check which account and platform owns your base game.
- Open the store listing for Premium Upgrade and confirm that your existing license qualifies.
- Compare it with the Expansions Bundle. The Upgrade includes every listed Premium add-on; the Bundle contains the two expansions only.
- Check the final product description before purchase, because eligibility and labels can change by platform.
You play through Game Pass
Verify whether your current subscription and platform meet the Premium Upgrade conditions. The launch announcement specifically references Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass; it does not establish universal eligibility for every Game Pass tier or storefront. Also distinguish subscription access to the base game from ownership of an add-on: the Upgrade still depends on the applicable base-game entitlement.
Recommended Free Tools
You want a physical PS5 copy
Playground Games says a PS5 disc version will be available through supporting retailers. That announcement does not establish that every edition, including every Premium configuration, will have a physical disc. Check the exact retailer listing for platform, format and edition contents. A Premium Upgrade is a digital add-on path, not a physical replacement for the base game. Do not assume a retailer carries every edition or that a disc listing includes the Premium expansions unless the product description says so.

What the editions do not change
The official game page describes more than 550 real-world cars across Forza Horizon 6. That figure is game-wide context, not a separate car count for Standard, Deluxe or Premium. The edition differences are the included expansions and add-on packs, not a different core game world or a separately measured vehicle roster.
Prices, names and other details to verify before checkout
No verified edition prices are established in the official information used for this comparison, so price-based value rankings would be unreliable. Store pricing can also vary by region, platform and promotion. A bundle may be the better fit for your library, but there is no confirmed price difference to quote here.
- Confirm the exact edition name and whether the listing is a full game or an add-on.
- Check whether Expansion 1 is shown as included or separately sold.
- Look for the Premium Upgrade requirement that you own the base game or meet the applicable Game Pass condition.
- Verify the platform: Xbox Series X|S, PC, or PS5.
- For PS5 physical purchases, confirm disc format and the specific edition contents.
- Recheck Expansion 2 timing, because only a later release is currently stated.
- Check the account and storefront region before checkout, especially when you already own a different edition.
Bottom line for each buyer
- Want the full game and both expansions: Premium Edition.
- Own the game and want every Premium extra: Premium Upgrade, if your platform and account qualify.
- Own the game and want only the two expansions: Expansions Bundle.
- Want the base game plus Welcome Pack and Car Pass: Deluxe Edition.
- Want only the base game: Standard Edition.
