Forza Horizon 6 does not use one universal collectible category called “souvenirs” or “trophies” in the official guides currently available. Instead, collecting is split among the Collection Journal, seven Discover Japan stamps, area mascots, limited event collectibles, Treasure Cars, Barn Finds, Festival Playlist rewards, and badges. Each system has a different location, reward, and time requirement, so the quickest way to find a particular item is to identify which system it belongs to first.

What “collectibles” means in Forza Horizon 6

Playground Games presents Horizon 6’s discovery systems as connected parts of travelling through Japan rather than as one checklist. The official progression overview says Stamps and the Collection Journal represent discoveries made during the journey. The first-drive guide describes the Journal as a record of “Mascots, races, friends, and a lot more.”

That distinction matters when you search for “Forza Horizon 6 souvenirs” or “trophies.” Those are understandable player-facing descriptions, but the official material reviewed does not establish either word as the formal name of a collectible class. The documented labels are Journal entries, Discover Japan stamps, mascots, badges, Treasure Cars, Barn Finds, and Festival Playlist rewards. The sources also do not provide a complete achievement or trophy taxonomy, so it would be misleading to treat this list as a replacement for the console’s separate achievement system.

Horizon 6 also has a large general car collection. The official game page advertises over 550 real-world cars, but that is the size of the overall roster, not the number of Treasure Cars, Barn Finds, or other collectibles: Forza Horizon 6 official game page.

Collection Journal and Discover Japan stamps

The Journal is the broad record

The Collection Journal is the closest equivalent to a master collection screen. It tracks a range of discoveries and activities rather than only objects that you smash or pick up. The starting guide specifically names mascots, races, and friends, while its map-icon list includes Mascots, Street Races, Touge Battles, Car Meets, and Time Attack Circuits.

Those activities feed Discover Japan progress. As you explore and complete the relevant discoveries, you earn stamps; the guide says there are seven stamps to earn. Journal progression can award credits, Wheelspins, cars, and other items. A Journal entry therefore may represent an activity, a collectible, or a broader discovery, and not every entry is a physical object in the road environment.

How to make progress

  1. Open the map and identify the Journal-related activity icons, including Mascots, Street Races, Touge Battles, Car Meets, and Time Attack Circuits.
  2. Complete the activities and exploration discoveries you encounter rather than hunting only for roadside pickups. The official guide says these contribute to Discover Japan progress.
  3. Check the Journal and stamp progress after completing discoveries. The first stamp arrives after enough progress, and the same progression path can eventually produce all seven.
  4. Use the resulting rewards and newly revealed clues to continue exploring. More exploration exposes additional Treasure Car clues and Aftermarket Cars, while additional stamps unlock more Barn Find rumors.

Because the Journal is an umbrella record, it is the best place to check whether an activity has counted. It is not evidence that every item described by players as a “souvenir” has the same reward or respawn behavior.

Mascots: the clearest small map collectibles

Where mascots appear

An Xbox Wire hands-on preview reports that each area contains collectible mascots scattered around Japan. Some sit in plain sight beside roads; others are tucked into less obvious locations. This design encourages leaving the fastest route and searching locations that you would otherwise pass: Xbox Wire’s Forza Horizon 6 preview.

Mascots are the most straightforward answer when a player asks about a conventional pickup collectible. Finding one grants a small reward, and mascot discoveries are among the map activities that contribute to Journal and Discover Japan progress. The reward is intentionally modest; the main value is cumulative exploration and the progress attached to finding the objects.

Event collectibles are not automatically mascot rules

Horizon 6 can also place themed collectibles in a time-limited collaboration or Festival Playlist challenge. For example, the October 2026 Horizon Meets and 7-Eleven collaboration asks players to smash 20 Egg Salad Sandwich Collectibles near the 7-Eleven Evolving World Car Meet during Autumn. Completing that dated challenge awards Festival Playlist completion points and a new Forza LINK reward: Xbox Wire’s 7-Eleven article.

  • ITALIAN PASSION CAR PACK — Introduces 4 great new Italian cars in Forza Horizon 6 post-launch, perfect for cruising, racing, or exploring.

That example should not be generalized into a permanent rule. It is a collaboration objective with its own quantity, location, season, and rewards. A future event may use another object, count, or reward. Treat the live Playlist and the event’s description as authoritative for the active series.

Treasure Cars and Barn Finds: collectibles that become vehicles

Treasure Cars use photo clues

Treasure Cars are abandoned vehicles discovered through photo clues. Instead of following a simple list of roadside objects, you interpret a clue, reach the pictured area, and investigate until the vehicle is revealed. The starting guide presents this as a separate car-discovery route, and says further exploration reveals more Treasure Car clues as well as Aftermarket Cars.

The October 2026 Horizon Meets update adds a clue-led 1970 Citroën 2CV Treasure Car. That is a dated example of the system, not a promise that the same car or clue remains available in every series: Horizon Meets update.

Barn Finds unlock through exploration

Barn Finds return in Horizon 6. Their rumors become available as you earn more Discover Japan stamps, so a player who ignores exploration may not see every rumor immediately. This creates a deliberate progression loop: complete Journal activities and explore the map, earn stamps, unlock a rumor, then follow the rumor to recover a vehicle.

Treasure Cars and Barn Finds therefore reward the player with cars rather than only credits, a Wheelspin, or a small cosmetic item. They are still discovery content, but they should not be confused with mascots or with a Playlist car that is tied to a weekly point threshold.

Aftermarket Cars are related but distinct

The same exploration path can reveal Aftermarket Cars. Explaining that feature in the Xbox Wire preview, Playground Games’ Ellert said: “It’s a subtle suggestion of ‘hey, try this car out, take this car to this event’ – and it’s my hope that more people will experience these wonderful machines by us placing them in the open world, and making them cheaper to purchase.” The quoted passage identifies the speaker as Ellert but does not state a full name or role. These cars are an exploration and purchasing incentive, not proof of another formal trophy category.

Festival Playlist rewards, badges, and seasonal collectibles

How the Playlist works

The Festival Playlist becomes available after you earn your first Wristband. It then presents new weekly rewards for activities such as races, stunts, and photo challenges. Some objectives involve smashing a themed collectible, while others ask you to complete an event or reach a point total. The Playlist is consequently both a reward system and a source of temporary collectible challenges.

Playlist content is time-window based. Cars, point thresholds, badges, and collaboration objects can change by series, so an old guide is not a reliable instruction for the current week.

Dated examples of cars and points

Series or event Reward Requirement or availability What the example proves
Series 1: Welcome to Japan 2008 Mazda Furai 60 Playlist points; available May 21–June 18, 2026 A car can be tied to a series point threshold and a fixed window.
Horizon Meets 2025 BMW M4 CS 80 points, according to the official series article Later series can use different thresholds and reward cars.
Horizon Meets Series History Reward 1973 Lamborghini Espada 400 GT 1,100 points, according to the official series article Some rewards sit at substantially higher totals than ordinary weekly milestones.

The Series 1 dates and the Horizon Meets thresholds are examples from their named series, not evergreen requirements. Before attempting a current car, open the live in-game Playlist and confirm the active series, point target, season, and expiry time. The official announcements are useful references for what was offered: Series 1 article and Horizon Meets update.

Badges are recognition rewards, not map pickups

Horizon Meets also offers badges. “Welcome!” is awarded for playing during Horizon Meets, while “Please Visit Again!” is associated with parking at the 7-Eleven Konbini Car Meet in a 2000 Honda Prelude Type SH. A badge records an accomplishment or participation condition; it is not the same thing as a mascot, Treasure Car, or Barn Find.

A practical route for collecting efficiently

  1. Earn the first Wristband. This unlocks the Festival Playlist, which is needed for weekly and series rewards.
  2. Use the map icons as a discovery checklist. Prioritize Mascots, Street Races, Touge Battles, Car Meets, and Time Attack Circuits when you want Journal and Discover Japan progress.
  3. Pick up mascots while travelling between activities. Search both visible roadside locations and tucked-away areas instead of assuming every mascot is on the main road.
  4. Check the Journal and stamp total. This confirms that exploration has counted and shows whether you are close to another Discover Japan milestone.
  5. Follow newly available Treasure Car clues. Photograph-based clues point to vehicles, while additional exploration can expose more clues and Aftermarket Cars.
  6. Advance stamps to unlock Barn Find rumors. If no new rumor appears, continue Journal activities and exploration rather than repeatedly searching the same barns.
  7. Read the active Playlist before chasing a seasonal collectible. Confirm the current series, season, object count, points, reward, and end date. Use the October 2026 sandwich challenge only as an example of how a collaboration objective can work.
  8. Claim badges and car milestones before the window closes. A badge condition or car threshold can be easy to miss if you assume the previous series remains active.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Searching for a “souvenir menu.” Start with the Journal, map activities, or the relevant Playlist description. “Souvenir” is reader-friendly wording, not an officially established category in the cited guides.
  • Treating every object as a mascot. A collaboration object can have a different count, location, season, and reward. The 20 Egg Salad Sandwich requirement is specific to the cited 7-Eleven event.
  • Expecting every car reward to be permanent. Treasure Cars and Barn Finds are discovery paths, but Playlist cars depend on series schedules and can rotate out.
  • Looking for Barn Find rumors before earning enough stamps. The starting guide ties additional rumors to Discover Japan stamp progress.
  • Using an old points guide without checking dates. The 2008 Mazda Furai requirement was 60 points in Series 1 from May 21 to June 18, 2026; Horizon Meets examples used 80 and 1,100 points for different rewards. Neither number should be assumed for a future series.
  • Confusing the roster size with collectible count. “Over 550 real-world cars” describes the game’s broad car roster, not a confirmed total for collectible or reward vehicles.

Platforms and changing availability

Forza Horizon 6 is listed for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The official game page lists a PlayStation 5 release date of January 26, 2027. Edition, format, regional availability, and retail terms should be checked against the current platform listing before purchase. Seasonal rewards, collaboration stock, Playlist schedules, and platform details can change after the dated announcements cited here.

Bottom line: choose the system that matches your goal

For a small object hunt, look for mascots and the active event collectibles. For progress that unlocks more of the world, work through Journal activities and the seven Discover Japan stamps. For cars earned through investigation, follow Treasure Car photo clues and Barn Find rumors. For rotating challenge rewards, use the Festival Playlist and its current point table. Calling all of these “souvenirs” or “trophies” hides the differences; the official system name tells you where to look and what kind of reward to expect.
