Forza Horizon 6 is easiest to learn when you treat it as three connected systems: Festival wristband ranks unlock more capable cars and higher-caliber events, the Collection Journal turns exploration into progression, and credits let you buy cars and build your spaces. You do not have to win every race or buy optional content to move forward.
Start with the opening Festival events, then alternate races with discovering points of interest, collecting Journal stamps, and trying cars suggested for nearby events. Spend credits on cars that suit the event and your driving style rather than chasing an unverified “best” starter or a supposed credits-per-hour record. The official material does not establish a universal starter car, a fastest beginner farm, or a fixed time to your first major purchase.
What should you do first in Forza Horizon 6?
A new save benefits from a simple loop: complete the introductory Festival activities, use the available car for a few different event types, explore nearby roads for Journal discoveries, and spend only when a purchase solves a real need. The game is set in Japan, with Tokyo districts such as Shibuya Crossing, Ginko Avenue, and Tokyo Tower alongside rural and regional environments, so exploration is part of the progression design rather than a distraction from the campaign.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Finish the opening Festival sequence. This introduces the driving model, event structure, and wristband progression. Follow the prompts until the game opens the wider map and gives you a choice of activities.
- Run several different event types. Notice which surfaces, routes, and handling characteristics you enjoy. The official sources do not identify one universally superior early car, so your first useful comparison is how a car behaves in the events you actually want to enter.
- Open the map and investigate nearby points of interest. Discoveries are recorded in the Collection Journal and contribute to Festival and wider Japan progression. You can make progress while driving between events instead of treating travel as empty time.
- Watch for exploration-linked car opportunities. Aftermarket Cars can appear during exploration and may cost less than ordinary purchases. The game is deliberately using the world to suggest cars for nearby events.
- Buy only when the event or your preferred style calls for it. Keep a reserve of credits for a car that fits a class, surface, or handling preference you have already identified. There is no verified beginner budget that applies to every player.
- Unlock convenience locations as they become available. The game includes eight player houses that function as fast-travel points and customization spaces. They are useful, but the sources do not make every house a required early objective.
This routine gives you two ways to advance at once: event participation and discovery. If a race is frustrating, switch to exploration and Journal completion for a while; if free-roaming loses its purpose, return to a Festival event and apply what you have learned about your car.

How Festival progression works
Wristband ranks are the campaign backbone
Forza Horizon 6 carries forward the Festival wristband progression system. As your Festival rank rises, the game opens better cars and higher-caliber races. The available material describes the system’s direction but does not publish a complete numeric formula or exact thresholds, so any guide claiming a precise fastest route from the supplied information would be overstating the evidence.
Think of a wristband rank as a gate to more of the game rather than a score you must maximize before doing anything else. A player who enjoys racing can progress through events; a player who likes sightseeing and collecting can add Journal discoveries to the same progression; most players will naturally combine both.
The Collection Journal is a second progression route
The Journal records discoveries such as points of interest and mementos. Design Director Torben Ellert explained in an Xbox Wire interview on January 22, 2026: “When you discover points of interest, that goes into your Journal, and it generates progression towards your rank in the Horizon Festival and your general progression in Japan.”
That means a detour can have a direct campaign effect. You do not need to complete every Journal entry before returning to races, and the sources do not establish that Journal completion is always faster than racing. Use it as a flexible route when you want variety, when an event is not a good fit for your current car, or when you are already traveling near an undiscovered location.
What the game does not establish
- There is no published exact number of discoveries required for each wristband rank in the supplied official material.
- There is no verified “fastest” progression path for all beginners.
- There is no official comparison proving that racing, exploration, or Journal completion gives the highest progression per minute.
Use the rank unlocks as practical signals: when a new event tier or car opportunity appears, try it, then decide whether to continue racing or return to exploration.
How do I get more credits in Forza Horizon 6?
Credits come from several kinds of play
The developer describes credits from varied activities, including winning races, delivering tofu, and exploring the world. Those examples matter because they support a play style built around variety. You can earn while competing, while completing a delivery-style activity, or while discovering Japan; the official sources do not rank those activities by profitability.

| Activity | What is established | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Winning races | Race victories award credits. | No verified beginner credits-per-hour figure or universal best event. |
| Delivering tofu | Tofu delivery is named as a credit-earning activity. | No published payout comparison with races or exploration. |
| Exploring | Exploration can generate credits and Journal progression; collectibles provide a small reward. | No claim that exploration is always faster than racing. |
| Estate building | Credits can place build items in The Estate, and the developer says you receive the credits back when deleting an item. | No reason to treat building as a permanent financial loss when you change your layout. |
A practical spending order
- Identify the next event you actually want to drive. Check its surface, class, and restrictions before buying anything.
- Use a suitable car already in your garage first. A new purchase is optional if the current car can enter the event and feels controllable.
- Buy a car when it solves a clear problem. Examples include needing a different class, wanting more confidence on a surface, or trying a car surfaced by exploration for a nearby event.
- Leave room for experiments. A completely empty balance limits your ability to respond to a new event or an Aftermarket Car opportunity.
- Build The Estate without fear of a one-way commitment. Because deleted build items return their credits according to the developer interview, you can revise a layout as your preferences change.
There is no reliable number for a beginner’s average credits per hour, time to a first purchase, or recommended early-game budget in the official material reviewed for this guide. Treat any precise figure presented without a stated test method, event, difficulty, and date as a claim that needs independent verification.

VIP Membership is optional paid content. Its listed benefits include a 2x credit boost to race rewards, three VIP-exclusive Forza Edition cars, a weekly bonus Super Wheelspin, and other extras. The boost applies to the relevant race rewards; it is not the baseline rate for every player, and VIP is not required for Festival progression.
Choose VIP only if those extras matter to you. Buying it does not turn an uninteresting event into a good fit, and the official information does not show that a beginner must own it to unlock the campaign.
How do I unlock more cars?
The launch materials describe approximately 550 cars, including the 2025 GR GT Prototype and 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. That is an approximate launch figure, not a guaranteed live-roster count; updates or regional availability can change what you see. Cars enter your garage through several routes rather than through one single shop.
| Acquisition route | How it works | Beginner implication |
|---|---|---|
| Regular purchases | Buy cars through the normal car-purchase flow using credits. | Compare the car with the event you intend to drive before spending. |
| Aftermarket Cars | Exploration can surface cheaper cars placed in the open world for you to discover. | Explore between events; an opportunity may cost less than a standard purchase. |
| Treasure Cars | Treasure-related discoveries provide another route into the garage. | Watch the world and Journal rather than relying only on the showroom. |
| Barn Finds | Clues are given as Journal stamps are collected, leading you to hidden cars. | Journal progress can produce a car reward as well as rank progress. |
| Forza Edition cars | Modified Forza Edition cars are part of the broader car pool; some are included with optional VIP content. | They are bonuses, not mandatory equipment for beginners. |
| Car Meets | At a Car Meet, you can inspect displayed cars and purchase a stock version through the Autoshow. | Use meets to examine designs and discover cars you might otherwise overlook. |
Why exploration can change what you buy
Design Director Torben Ellert described the Aftermarket Cars system as a deliberate nudge: “It’s a subtle suggestion of ‘hey, try this car out, take this car to this event’ – and it’s my hope that more people will experience these wonderful machines by us placing them in the open world, and making them cheaper to purchase.” The system is a suggestion, not an order. You can ignore a surfaced car if its handling or event category does not suit you.

No official source establishes a universally best starter car or a tested ranking of beginner performance. Instead, compare each candidate on three concrete axes:
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Event suitability: Does it qualify for the event type, class, surface, and restrictions you want to run?
- Driving style: Do you prefer a stable, forgiving car, a responsive car that rotates quickly, or a machine that rewards careful throttle control? Try the car rather than inferring everything from its price or appearance.
- Acquisition cost: Is it already in your garage, available through an exploration opportunity, or worth the required credit spend now?
Cover cars, expensive cars, and VIP cars are not automatically the right first choice. The useful car is the one that lets you enter the event you want and remain comfortable enough to learn its braking, cornering, and acceleration behavior.
How exploration, collectibles, and the Journal fit together
Collectibles and points of interest
Collectibles are placed around areas of Japan and grant a small reward. Points of interest and mementos add Journal records and progression. The reward value is not quantified in the official preview, so regard collectibles as incremental benefits that make travel worthwhile rather than as a guaranteed high-income method.
Barn Find clues and Journal stamps
Barn Find clues are delivered as Journal stamps are collected. This creates a clear reason to investigate the Journal even when you are not chasing a new wristband rank: the same exploration activity can reveal a path to a hidden car. The supplied material does not specify every clue threshold or location, so follow the in-game Journal prompts rather than relying on a fixed checklist from an older version.
Aftermarket Cars in the open world
Aftermarket Cars appear as you explore and can be cheaper to purchase. When one appears, evaluate it against the nearby event and your preferred handling style. The design intent is to introduce cars in context, not to prove that every surfaced vehicle outperforms what you already own.
Houses, The Estate, and Car Meets
Player houses
Forza Horizon 6 includes eight player houses. They act as fast-travel points and customization spaces, making them useful as your activities spread across Japan. They are optional world facilities in the supplied description, so prioritize a house when its location or convenience helps your routine rather than assuming you must collect all eight immediately.
The Estate
The Estate is a larger buildable area where you can place build items using credits. The developer interview says the credits are returned when an item is deleted. That makes layout experimentation reversible: place a feature, live with it, and remove it later without treating every design decision as a permanent economic sacrifice.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Car Meets
Three permanent Car Meet locations are described: the Festival, the Okuibuki parking area, and Daikoku. Meets provide a social way to inspect cars and designs. You can purchase a stock version of a displayed car through the Autoshow, so a meet is also a discovery tool for your garage. Nothing in the official material makes visiting a meet mandatory for Festival progression.

Launch platforms and timing
Playground Games announced Xbox Series X|S and PC availability for May 19, 2026, with Premium Edition Early Access beginning May 15. The announcement described a PlayStation 5 release later in 2026. The official FAQ says Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass members can play on May 19 and that Premium Upgrade provides early access. Because platform availability and store listings can change after launch, check the current official listing for your region before purchasing.
What the editions are for
The official edition page distinguishes Standard, Deluxe, Premium, and Premium Upgrade content. Deluxe and Premium include the Car Pass; Premium and Premium Upgrade include VIP and additional content. Car Pass cars are described as a one-time free addition to the garage, saving the in-game credits you would otherwise spend on those cars.
| Option | What the official material identifies | Beginner decision |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Base game edition. | Suitable when you want the core game without optional add-ons. |
| Deluxe | Includes the Car Pass. | Consider it for the extra cars; verify the current package contents. |
| Premium | Includes the Car Pass, VIP, and additional content; Premium Early Access was announced for May 15, 2026. | Choose it for early access and extras, not because progression requires it. |
| Premium Upgrade | Add-on that provides Premium benefits, including early access as described in the FAQ, for an eligible base game. | Check platform ownership and the current bundle contents before buying. |
The research-backed information does not verify a particular retailer listing, physical-disc availability, digital-code format, or local price. Confirm those details on the current platform store or official product page. Add-on contents can also change, so read the live description rather than relying on an old screenshot or launch article.

A decision guide for common beginner situations
“I keep losing races.”
Do not assume the answer is an expensive car. Check whether your current car is appropriate for the event, then try a surfaced Aftermarket Car or another vehicle with handling characteristics you understand. Use a lower-pressure event to practice braking and corner exits, and mix in Journal discoveries while you learn.
“I have credits, but I do not know what to buy.”
Wait until a target event gives the purchase a purpose. Compare event suitability, driving style, and acquisition cost. A car already in your garage may be the better choice if it lets you learn the event without reducing your reserve.
“I want to progress without racing constantly.”
Explore points of interest, collect Journal stamps, investigate collectibles, and watch for Barn Find clues or Aftermarket Cars. These activities contribute to progression and can award credits, although no official comparison proves they are faster than races.
“I am worried that building The Estate wastes credits.”
The developer says deleting a build item returns its credits. You can therefore redesign the space as your preferences change; keep enough balance for cars and event-related purchases rather than avoiding the feature entirely.
“Should I buy the Premium Upgrade?”
Only if you value the included optional benefits, such as early access, VIP rewards, and the other Premium content. The base progression systems—Festival ranks, Journal discoveries, events, and car acquisition—are not described as requiring the upgrade.
