F1 TV is Formula 1’s own streaming and archive service. F1 TV coverage usually means Formula 1 programming supplied by a television or streaming rights-holder in a particular country, although people sometimes use the phrase loosely for F1 TV itself. They are not automatically the same product: live rights, available plans, features and prices depend on your country.

If you are deciding what to subscribe to, first verify which service has live practice, qualifying, Sprint and race rights where you live. Then check the official F1 TV subscription page and the current plan comparison for your market.

What “F1 TV coverage” and “F1 TV” actually mean

These phrases describe different layers of Formula 1’s distribution system.

F1 TV is Formula 1’s direct service

F1 TV is operated by Formula 1. Depending on the tier and country, it combines live sessions, alternative camera feeds, team radio, timing data, replays, documentaries, race-weekend shows and an archive of historic events. The service is available through the F1 TV website and supported apps and devices, but the catalogue and live rights attached to an account are market-specific.

F1 TV coverage usually means a local rights-holder

A broadcaster or streaming platform may hold the rights to show Formula 1 in your territory. Its package can include some or all practice sessions, qualifying, Sprint events and races, often with local commentary, studio programmes and its own replay rules. The rights-holder may be the only legal source of live F1 in a country, even though F1 TV exists there as an archive or non-live product.

Because rights agreements differ by territory and can change between seasons, “F1 TV coverage” is not a universal plan name. A comparison that is accurate in one country can be wrong in another.

Quick comparison: service versus local coverage

Question F1 TV Local television or streaming coverage
Who provides it? Formula 1 A territory-specific licensed rights-holder
Live sessions Available through Pro or Premium where those tiers have live rights; Access does not include live F1 sessions Depends on the local contract and package
Alternative feeds Onboard cameras, live team radio and timing features are part of the Pro/Premium experience; the exact matrix is country- and device-dependent Depends on the provider’s production and app
Archive and replays On-demand shows, delayed replays and historic races, with the catalogue varying by market Usually limited by the provider’s replay window and contract
Picture and multi-view features Premium adds 4K UHD/HDR, Multiview and multi-device streaming as specified by the official comparison Depends on the provider, subscription and compatible equipment
Price and contract Set by the local F1 TV offer; do not assume a United States price applies elsewhere Set by the local provider, often as a standalone plan or bundle

F1 TV Access, Pro and Premium: what changes between tiers

Formula 1’s official comparison identifies three subscription types. The plan names are consistent, but availability and individual features can vary by country, device and later product updates.

F1 TV Access

Access is the catch-up and data tier. Formula 1 describes it as providing on-demand content “without the live races.” It is designed for viewers who can watch later rather than needing a live stream.

  • On-demand shows and archive programming.
  • Delayed race replays rather than live F1 sessions.
  • Timing and telemetry tools.
  • Best-of team-radio material and other selected replay content.

Access can make sense if your local broadcaster already supplies live races and you want historic material, data or delayed viewing. It is not the tier to choose when your requirement is a live Grand Prix stream.

F1 TV Pro

Pro is the live-oriented tier in countries where Formula 1 offers it. The official comparison says Pro includes “full access to all live sessions and support series.” That covers live F1 practice, qualifying, Sprint events and races where the plan has rights, plus the support-series coverage listed for the market.

  • Live F1 sessions, subject to local availability.
  • Live support-series sessions where included.
  • Onboard camera feeds and live team radio.
  • Replays, timing and telemetry.
  • Race-weekend shows and other on-demand programming.

Pro is available only in selected countries. A page showing Pro in one market does not establish that a resident of another market can purchase it or use it for live races.

F1 TV Premium

Premium includes the Pro package and adds viewing-experience features rather than a different championship. The current comparison lists 4K UHD/HDR, Multiview and multi-device streaming for Premium.

  • Pro’s live sessions, support series, onboard feeds, radio, timing and replay features.
  • 4K UHD/HDR where the event, account, app, display and network support it.
  • Multiview, with the comparison table listing four feeds.
  • Multi-device streaming under the limits and eligible-device rules shown for your market.

Formula 1’s 2025 Premium launch announcement described up to six simultaneous devices and Multiview on selected devices at launch. Treat that as a launch-era specification, not a permanent worldwide promise; confirm the current device count and eligibility in your local terms before subscribing.

Does F1 TV include every live race?

Not automatically. The answer depends on both your tier and your country.

Access does not include live F1 sessions. Pro and Premium are the tiers intended to provide live sessions, but Pro is sold only in selected countries and local rights can restrict what Formula 1 can stream. Your account must therefore be eligible for a live tier in the country where you reside and subscribe.

Formula 1’s March 4, 2026 announcement says F1 TV would carry every Grand Prix, Sprint, qualifying and practice session live during the 2026 season, along with Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and Porsche Supercup. That is an official statement about the 2026 F1 TV service; it does not remove territory restrictions. Check the offer displayed after selecting your country before relying on it for a particular event.

What you can watch and control on F1 TV

Live video feeds

Pro and Premium are built around more than a single broadcast feed. Where enabled, you can switch to onboard cameras, follow live team radio and use the main world feed alongside timing information. This is the main practical difference from a conventional channel package that may present only the producer’s chosen camera sequence.

Timing and telemetry

Timing features are available across the F1 TV tiers according to the official comparison, while Access focuses on using those tools with delayed and archive content. Data views can help you follow gaps, sectors, tyre information and session order even when you are watching a replay rather than a live stream.

Replay windows and archive

Access, Pro and Premium all offer on-demand material in different combinations. The current United States F1 TV page displays an archive of more than 650 historic races, but catalogue size and presentation can vary by market. Do not treat that displayed number as a guaranteed worldwide total.

Multiview and picture quality

Premium is the tier aimed at viewers who want to combine feeds or use higher-end picture quality. Multiview can place multiple views on one screen; Formula 1’s comparison specifies four feeds. 4K UHD/HDR requires a compatible stream, device, display and connection, and may not be available for every event or device.

Why your country changes the answer

Formula 1 states that the selected plan must correspond to the customer’s resident country and the country where the subscription is made. This prevents a reader from safely using a plan page or price from another territory as a substitute for local eligibility.

Before paying, check:

  • Whether F1 TV Access, Pro or Premium is offered to residents of your country.
  • Whether the live rights include the sessions you care about: practice, qualifying, Sprint and the Grand Prix.
  • Whether F2, F3, F1 Academy and Porsche Supercup are included in the local package.
  • Which commentary languages and regional features are available.
  • Whether your preferred television, phone, tablet or streaming device is supported in that region.

If Pro is not listed for your country, a local rights-holder may be the legitimate source of live coverage even though F1 TV remains available for archive or delayed viewing.

The United States exception: Apple TV partnership

Formula 1 says Apple TV is the new United States home of Formula 1 and that F1 TV Premium is included with an Apple TV subscription. Its partner information identifies Apple TV as a U.S.-only F1 TV Premium partner. This inclusion should not be presented as a worldwide bundle or as evidence that the same arrangement exists in another country.

U.S. readers should compare the Apple TV subscription terms with the standalone F1 TV offer, including the exact activation process and any device or account requirements shown at sign-up. Readers elsewhere should use the partner and plan information displayed for their own country.

Supported devices and watching on a television

F1 lists support for web browsers, mobile apps, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Chromecast. The F1 TV homepage also lists Google TV and Apple TV. App availability can depend on the exact device model, operating-system version and service region, so a device appearing on a general platform list is not a guarantee that every model supports every feature.

Before buying a streaming device

  1. Open the official F1 TV home page and confirm that your platform and region are listed.
  2. Check whether the model supports the resolution and HDR format you want; Premium’s 4K UHD/HDR feature is conditional on compatible hardware and content.
  3. Verify that the device can install the current F1 TV app rather than relying on an outdated listing.
  4. Confirm whether Multiview is supported on that device if it is the reason you are considering Premium.

F1’s pages establish platform support, not the suitability of a particular streaming-stick model. Confirm the exact model in the current app store and service help pages before purchase.

How to compare F1 TV with a local broadcaster

Use the same checklist for both options instead of comparing brand names or headline prices.

1. Confirm live rights first

Look for an explicit statement that the package carries the live Grand Prix, qualifying, Sprint and practice sessions in your country. A service that offers replays or timing but not live sessions is not an equivalent substitute.

2. Check support-series coverage

If you follow the feeder categories, verify F2, F3, F1 Academy and Porsche Supercup separately. Their inclusion can differ from the F1 race rights.

3. Compare feeds and data

Ask whether you receive onboard cameras, live team radio, timing and telemetry, and whether those features work on your intended device. A local channel may provide excellent commentary but fewer selectable feeds; F1 TV Pro or Premium may offer the opposite balance where available.

4. Compare replay and archive access

Check how soon a replay appears, how long it remains available and whether historic races and documentary shows are included. Do not assume that a live package has the same archive as F1 TV.

5. Compare the viewing experience

For Premium, verify 4K UHD/HDR, Multiview and simultaneous-device rules in the current local comparison. For a broadcaster, check its stated resolution, app support and household-streaming policy.

6. Add the real cost

Use the price displayed for your country and include taxes, required bundles, introductory periods, renewal rates and contract length. The official F1 pages do not establish a universal price, and a U.S. figure should not be presented as global.

Choosing the right option

Choose Access when delayed viewing is enough

Access is suitable when you already have live coverage elsewhere or mainly want timing, archive races, shows and delayed replays. It does not solve a live-race requirement.

Choose Pro when live feeds matter and Pro is sold locally

Pro is the logical F1 TV choice for viewers in an eligible country who want live sessions plus onboard cameras, radio, support series and timing in one service.

Best Value

Choose Premium when the display and multi-feed setup justify it

Premium is aimed at viewers who will actually use 4K UHD/HDR, Multiview or multi-device streaming. If your television, connection or preferred device cannot support those features, Pro may provide the relevant live content without the experience upgrade.

Choose local coverage when F1 TV live rights are unavailable

If your country does not offer Pro, or the local rights agreement reserves live sessions for a broadcaster, use the licensed local package for live viewing and consider F1 TV Access for archive and data features.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Assuming “F1 TV” always means live racing

Check the tier name. Access is on-demand; live sessions require an eligible live tier.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Using another country’s subscription page

Plan availability, rights, prices, languages and partner bundles are territorial. Select your resident country on the official site and read the offer shown there.

Buying Premium for a feature your device cannot display

Confirm model support for 4K, HDR and Multiview before upgrading. The launch-era six-device description does not override current local limits.

Expecting a local broadcaster’s replay library to match F1 TV

Replay windows and historic archives are separate product features. Compare them explicitly rather than inferring them from live rights.

Assuming the 2026 announcement overrides local restrictions

The 2026 announcement describes F1 TV’s planned season coverage, while eligibility remains governed by territory, plan and partner terms.
