LineageOS documents a browser-based flashing utility with an “Odin” tab for Samsung download mode. It lets you connect a device in a compatible browser, select firmware file(s), and start flashing—without installing ADB and Fastboot locally for that workflow. It does not make unsupported Samsung models compatible, and you still need to follow the installation instructions for your exact device.
What the browser-based Odin tab does
Lineage Flash Tools is a web-based utility for flashing LineageOS recovery, boot, and OTA packages. Its four tabs cover different device connection modes:

The Odin tab is the browser tool’s Samsung download-mode workflow. The documentation does not say that Samsung’s separate desktop Odin application is running in the browser, nor does it provide a general answer about whether that desktop application is needed for every Samsung installation. The documented sequence is short, but it is only one part of installing LineageOS. Read the device-specific installation guide first and use the firmware files it specifies.

- Reboot the Samsung device into download mode.
- Open the LineageOS Flash Tools page in a browser that supports WebUSB, then click Connect and select the device.
- Select the firmware file or files specified for your device and start the flash.
The guide also says Windows users can use serial mode instead; this skips installing Samsung USB drivers. That option is specific to the documented workflow, not a guarantee that every browser or device setup will work without driver or permission issues. LineageOS Flash Tools guide
What you need before connecting
A WebUSB-capable browser
The LineageOS guide names Chrome and Edge as examples of browsers that support WebUSB. The separate infrastructure guidance also names Chromium (excluding Ubuntu’s broken Snap package), Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave with Shields disabled. It cautions that Flatpak and Snap browser packages and private-browsing windows can cause WebUSB or storage limitations. Browser packaging and compatibility can change, so check the live tool instructions if the browser does not detect the phone.

USB access appropriate to your operating system
Requirements vary by operating system and connection mode. For WebUSB detection in ADB or Fastboot mode, Windows may need drivers. On Linux, browser access may require udev rules; the guide says these are not required on distributions using systemd v261 or newer. These notes are not universal prerequisites for the Samsung Odin-tab workflow.

The right device instructions and files
The browser tool does not establish that a phone is supported. Check LineageOS’s device list and the installation guide for the exact model before flashing. LineageOS says devices absent from its list are unsupported, builds for other devices cannot be used, and nearly identical models are not interchangeable. The device guide governs the required steps and firmware.

Why the browser may not see the phone or a transfer may fail
Check the cable, port, and connections
LineageOS notes that high-throughput USB communication can fail with some ports, cables, or hubs. Try a different data-capable USB cable or port, and remove hubs, extension cables, and adapters where possible. The Flash Tools guide lists these as troubleshooting steps.
Check browser and USB access
Confirm that you are using a WebUSB-capable browser and that your operating system permits browser access to USB. Linux udev rules, Windows drivers in some modes, browser packaging, and private-browsing restrictions can each affect detection. If using the ADB tab and you already have ADB installed, the guide instructs you to run adb kill-server before using the web flash tools; an existing local ADB server can interfere with that tab.

Does the “24.0” label establish a release-specific feature?
The available official tool instructions describe Lineage Flash Tools and its Samsung Odin tab, but do not independently verify that this functionality was introduced with, or is specifically part of, LineageOS 24.0. The safe conclusion is that LineageOS documents a browser-based Samsung download-mode workflow; the release attribution should not be treated as confirmed by those instructions.
