The message “This device can’t use a Trusted Platform Module” does not necessarily mean your PC lacks a TPM. It may be disabled in UEFI firmware, or the warning may relate to one feature—most commonly BitLocker—rather than TPM detection generally. First identify which feature produced the error, then check the TPM’s status and version before changing firmware or encryption settings.
Start by identifying where the message appears
Note whether the error appears while setting up BitLocker, Windows Hello, or another feature. The remedy depends on the context. For example, a BitLocker-specific message may say an administrator must enable the policy “Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM.” That wording appeared in a 2018 Microsoft Q&A post; it is an example of a BitLocker error, not a universal diagnosis. Microsoft Q&A (2018)
- Before firmware or encryption changes: If BitLocker is enabled, make sure you can access its recovery key. A firmware change can prompt for the key at startup.
- On a work or school PC: Ask your IT administrator before changing firmware settings, clearing the TPM, or changing encryption policy. Microsoft’s TPM-clearing guidance warns against clearing a TPM on a managed device without administrator direction.
Check whether Windows detects a TPM and whether it is ready
Use either Windows Security or the TPM Management console. Record the TPM status and specification version; Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0. Microsoft: Enable TPM 2.0 on your PC and Microsoft: TPM recommendations

Windows Security
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Device security.
- Look for Security processor, then open Security processor details.
- Note the specification version and any status or error shown.
TPM Management
- Press Windows+R.
- Enter
tpm.mscand press Enter. - Check whether the TPM is ready for use and note the specification version.
If Security processor is missing, or Windows says “Compatible TPM cannot be found,” do not assume the hardware is absent. Microsoft notes that the TPM may be present but disabled in firmware. Microsoft’s TPM enablement guidance

- 【Model Support】Each security module is tested before it leaves the factory and is 100% perfectly works well. Therefore, Please confirm that your motherboard supports TPM2.0 technology.
If the TPM is disabled, look for its setting in UEFI
TPM settings are managed in UEFI firmware, and the path and labels differ by computer. Microsoft documents this route to firmware settings, though the exact menu can vary by Windows version and device: Microsoft: Enable TPM 2.0 on your PC.
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Under Advanced startup, select Restart now.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.
- In UEFI, inspect relevant menus such as Advanced, Security, or Trusted Computing. Look for a TPM or security-device option.
Depending on the manufacturer, the setting may be called Security Device, Security Device Support, TPM State, AMD fTPM switch, AMD PSP fTPM, Intel PTT, or Intel Platform Trust Technology. Follow your computer maker’s instructions for the specific model; Microsoft advises consulting the manufacturer if you are unsure how to change TPM settings. Avoid guessing at unfamiliar firmware options.

- 【Wide Compatibility – Gigabyte & ASUS】 Specifically designed for Gigabyte and ASUS desktop motherboards with a 20-1 pin (2x10 / GA 20-1) 2.54mm pitch LPC TPM header. Ideal for upgrading to TPM 2.0 on DDR4 systems. (Note: NOT compatible with 12-pin, 2x6, or 14-pin headers).
- 【Windows 11 Readiness】 An essential hardware upgrade to meet Windows 11 security requirements. Ensure your system stays secure and up-to-date with a dedicated hardware TPM 2.0 module without replacing your entire motherboard or CPU.
- 【Advanced Security & Encryption】 Powered by the standalone Infineon SLB9665 encryption processor. This module securely stores cryptographic keys for software like Windows BitLocker, providing a robust layer of hardware-based security for your data.
- 【Platform Limits – No Laptops】 Optimized for Desktop motherboards from the DDR4 era (X99 series and newer). Not compatible with laptops or legacy DDR3 systems. Please verify your motherboard's header layout (2x10 pins) before ordering.
- 【Easy Setup & BIOS Note】 Simple plug-and-play installation takes only minutes with no tools required. IMPORTANT: After installation, you MUST enable "Security Device Support" or "Intel PTT / AMD fTPM" in your BIOS settings for Windows to recognize the module.
If Windows reports a TPM fault, use its diagnosis before considering a reset
Windows Security’s security processor troubleshooting page can identify conditions such as a disabled TPM, a needed firmware update, or incompatibility between the TPM and firmware. Follow the diagnosis and consult the computer manufacturer for firmware update or compatibility instructions. Microsoft: Troubleshoot TPM issues

For a BitLocker-only error, understand the no-TPM option
When BitLocker cannot use a compatible TPM, an administrator may allow BitLocker to start using a different authentication method. Microsoft’s Intune policy description specifies a password or a startup key stored on a USB flash drive. This is a BitLocker policy choice—not a way to restore TPM availability for Windows Hello or other features, and it does not satisfy Windows 11’s TPM 2.0 requirement. On a managed PC, the organization decides whether the policy is allowed. Microsoft Learn: BitLocker policy settings
Do not buy a TPM module based only on this message. Hardware and firmware compatibility depend on the PC or motherboard; use the manufacturer’s model-specific guidance.

What this means for Windows 10 and Windows 11
Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0. A TPM with an earlier specification version does not meet that requirement. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so PCs still running it are beyond the standard support period. Microsoft: Enable TPM 2.0 on your PC

Quick Recap
Best Value
- Independent TPM Processor: The remote card encryption security module uses an independent TPM encryption processor, which is a daughter board connected to the main board.
- High Security: The TPM securely stores an encryption key that can be created using encryption software, without which the content on the user's PC remains encrypted and protected from unauthorized access.
- PC Architecture: TPM module system components adopts a standard PC architecture and reserves a certain amount of memory for the system, so the actual memory size will be smaller than the specified amount.
- Scope of Application: TPM modules are suitable for GIGABYTE for 11 motherboards. Some motherboards require a TPM module inserted or an update to the latest BIOS to enable the TPM option.
- Easy to Use: 12Pin remote card encryption security module is easy to use, no complicated procedures are required, and it can be used immediately after installation.
