If your Samsung Galaxy has no internet after leaving Wi-Fi, first check that Mobile data is on and Airplane mode is off. Then test after each troubleshooting step: restart the phone, check whether every app is affected, review network settings, and contact your carrier if cellular service still fails. The exact menu names vary by Galaxy model, software version, region, and carrier.
1. Confirm mobile data is enabled
Turn off Wi-Fi so you can test the cellular connection directly. Open Quick Settings and make sure Mobile data is enabled. You can also look under Settings > Connections > Data usage; menu labels may differ. Mobile data uses your carrier connection, and leaving Wi-Fi does not necessarily mean the phone is successfully using it.
Check that Airplane mode is off as well. It disables network connections. Samsung’s mobile data troubleshooting guide and Galaxy network troubleshooting guide describe these checks.

If mobile data is on but the phone still has no connection, force restart it, then turn Wi-Fi off and test cellular data again. Samsung’s UK instructions describe holding Volume down and the Side key together; key locations and restart steps can vary by model. Follow the instructions for your device if that combination does not apply.

Test after each change rather than making several at once. That makes it easier to identify what restored the connection. See Samsung’s step-by-step troubleshooting guidance.
3. Find out whether the problem affects every app
Try more than one app or website using mobile data. If some work and others do not, the phone may have a restriction affecting particular apps rather than a complete cellular connection failure.

- Check whether Data Saver is limiting background data. Samsung notes that it can restrict background data for some apps.
- Review app-specific network permissions or allowed-network choices under Settings > Connections > Data usage, where available.
- Check whether a data limit is configured and has been reached.
Settings and controls vary by device. Samsung’s guides to managing Galaxy data usage and Galaxy connection options explain these features.

4. Restore default APN settings or review network mode
If all apps fail and a restart did not help, check the Access Point Name (APN) and available network mode options. An incorrect APN can prevent a device from connecting to the mobile network, and a network mode that does not work in a particular carrier or location may cause connection trouble.

- Open Settings and search for Access Point Names or APN. On supported models, you can usually find it in the mobile network settings.
- Use the option to reset APNs to their defaults, if available, then test mobile data.
- If the issue remains, review the available network mode options. Choose only an option supported by your device and carrier; availability varies.
Do not enter guessed APN values. If restoring defaults does not help, ask your carrier for the correct settings. Samsung explains these checks in its network troubleshooting guide.
5. Reset network settings only if needed
A network reset is a broader step, not just a mobile-data toggle. Samsung says it resets Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other network settings, so expect to reconnect to Wi-Fi networks and reconfigure affected connections afterward.

Search Settings for Reset network settings or Reset mobile network settings if the menu path shown on another device does not match yours. The available reset options differ across Galaxy models and software versions. Once the reset is complete, test mobile data before changing other settings. Samsung documents the reset and its effects in its mobile data guide and network troubleshooting guide.

6. Ask your carrier to check the account and service
If these device checks do not restore service, contact your carrier. Only the carrier can confirm account-specific details such as whether your SIM or eSIM is active, your plan has data available, the line is provisioned correctly, or there is service at your location. Coverage can also be the cause.

If you recently changed carriers but kept the same phone, ask the new carrier to verify that the device and line are set up correctly. Samsung specifically recommends contacting the carrier when mobile data problems remain unresolved, including after a carrier change.
Do not enable data roaming as a general fix for a local connection problem. It may allow service outside your carrier’s coverage area, but charges may apply; check with the carrier before turning it on. See Samsung’s data usage guidance.
7. Run Samsung Members diagnostics
If the problem persists, open the Samsung Members app, select Support, start Phone diagnostics, and choose Mobile network, if those options are available. The app must be installed, and features can vary. If diagnostics do not identify or resolve the issue, contact Samsung Support for device help or your carrier for account, coverage, and provisioning checks. Samsung describes this option in its mobile data troubleshooting guide, updated 5 October 2026.
