Yes—FiveM can run with GTA V Enhanced, but Enhanced support is still early access. Cfx.re opened the Enhanced server framework to server owners on July 21, 2026. It uses different server binaries and a different networking model from Legacy, and it may still have bugs, crashes, missing features, and breaking changes. Players need a legitimate PC copy of GTA V with the free Enhanced upgrade, while operators need the separate Cfx Server package rather than the older FXServer artifacts.
Enhanced servers cannot play with Legacy clients. If your community depends on mature resources, paid scripts, graphic modifications, or predictable player access, keeping a Legacy server while testing Enhanced is the lower-risk approach.

FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is an early-access framework, not a finished replacement for the established Legacy platform. Cfx.re’s July 21, 2026 announcement opened access to server owners and described the build as unfinished. Bugs, missing features, and changes before full release are expected. Secondary reports also associate the early build with performance problems and game crashes, although no verbatim official statement confirming those descriptions has been verified.
Player access is less certain than server-owner access. Some secondary guides say everyone can already join, while others say general player access will arrive later. Treat that point as unresolved and check the current Cfx.re announcement and launcher behavior before advertising an Enhanced server to the public.

Can you play FiveM on GTA V Enhanced?
You can use FiveM with Enhanced if you meet the current client requirements and download the Enhanced-specific client. Enhanced is not enabled by simply pointing the classic installer at a different GTA folder.
Client requirements
- A legitimate PC copy of GTA V from Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the Rockstar Games Launcher.
- GTA V must be updated and launched at least once so its installation and account ownership can be verified.
- The free GTA 5 Enhanced upgrade available to existing owners on those PC stores.
- An active Rockstar Games/Social Club account.
- Several gigabytes of free disk space. The installer downloads the “Gen9” files needed for Enhanced servers.
- The separate Enhanced client installer. It is different from the classic FiveM download.
GTA V Legacy remains supported in the current FiveM client, and Legacy and Enhanced can be installed side by side. They are separate environments, not interchangeable server versions.

The most important change is architectural: Enhanced removes peer-to-peer synchronization and uses a client-server model. Non-big OneSync mode is also gone, so OneSync big is the only OneSync mode. Pure mode is always enabled and cannot be turned off.

txAdmin is still embedded in the Cfx Server package, so the familiar web administration workflow remains the primary way to manage resources, configuration, restarts, and permissions. Developer mode uses sv_devMode true. The Enhanced player-ID allocation behavior also differs: Legacy IDs were only incremented and were never reused, so scripts that assume that old lifecycle need to be checked.
How to host an Enhanced server
The exact control-panel labels vary by hosting provider, but the migration sequence is the same. Do not overwrite a working Legacy installation until the Enhanced instance has been tested separately.
- Confirm your test plan. Decide whether the server will be a private development instance, a closed beta, or a public community server. Because player availability and early-access behavior can change, begin with a separate hostname, database, and resource directory.
- Obtain the Enhanced server package. Download the Cfx Server build intended for GTA V Enhanced, not an older FXServer artifact. Verify that the extracted installation contains the Enhanced executable named
cfx-server.exe. - Create a clean server directory. Keep the binaries,
server.cfg, resources, cache, logs, and database credentials isolated from your Legacy installation. A clean directory makes it possible to roll back without mixing incompatible assets. - Start txAdmin. Launch the Cfx Server package and complete the embedded txAdmin setup. Use a strong administrator password, restrict the management port with firewall rules, and do not expose the panel unnecessarily to the public internet.
- Configure the server identity and endpoint. Add the server name, license key, listening endpoint, resource start lines, and database connection in
server.cfg. Use the Enhanced server’s documented defaults from the current Cfx.re release rather than copying every Legacy setting blindly. - Enable the required synchronization mode. Enhanced supports OneSync big only. Remove Legacy settings that select non-big mode or assume P2P synchronization.
- Install resources one at a time. Start with a minimal set, then add framework, jobs, inventory, voice, map, and UI resources individually. Record the version and startup result for each resource so a failure can be isolated.
- Convert streamed assets. Enhanced requires streamed assets to be converted. Test maps, vehicles, clothing, and other downloadable content in a private session before putting them on a public server.
- Test pure-mode behavior. Pure mode cannot be disabled. Remove client modifications that depend on bypassing it and verify that every required asset loads without exceptions.
- Test connections and recovery. Have testers connect, disconnect, reconnect, switch characters, restart the resource, and restart the whole server. Check logs after each operation and keep a known-good backup of configuration and data.
For documentation questions, Cfx.re directs server operators to the Cfx Forum and support documentation. The official FiveM site describes running a server as straightforward, but “easy” does not mean Legacy resources are automatically compatible with Enhanced.

Will existing scripts work?
Existing Lua, JavaScript, and C# scripts are generally expected to work according to secondary compatibility guidance, but that is not a guarantee for every resource. A script can fail because it depends on a removed feature, an old identifier assumption, an incompatible streamed asset, or a client modification blocked by pure mode.
Check each resource in this order
- Runtime compatibility: confirm the resource starts without syntax, dependency, or API errors.
- Networking assumptions: inspect code that expects P2P behavior, non-big OneSync, or a particular player-ID sequence.
- Asset format: convert and test all streamed files; do not assume a Legacy package will load unchanged.
- Voice integration: Mumble has been removed, so resources built around it need an alternative supported integration or a redesign.
- Developer tools: the server ImGui GUI is removed. Use txAdmin and the documented developer-mode setting,
sv_devMode true, where appropriate. - Licensing and protection: Asset Escrow is reported as not yet available for Enhanced. Treat paid or protected resources as a special migration risk and confirm the author’s Enhanced policy before deployment.
Keep a compatibility spreadsheet with the resource name, version, dependencies, startup result, client behavior, and rollback decision. “It starts” is not enough: exercise the gameplay path that players actually use.
Enhanced versus Legacy: performance and reach
Enhanced may offer technical advantages, but the published performance figures are secondary-source estimates rather than official Cfx.re or Rockstar specifications.

Do not publish the 120 Hz, 30/40 Hz, or 50% figures as promises. They are useful questions for a benchmark plan, not specifications on which to base capacity guarantees. Measure your own workload after the resource set and player count are known.

Hardware and capacity planning
No official minimum or recommended hardware specification for Enhanced server hosting was established. A low-quality source mentions a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, but that claim is not reliable enough to use as a requirement or recommendation.
Plan capacity from observation instead:
- Begin with a clean instance and monitor CPU utilization, memory, storage latency, network throughput, and tick behavior.
- Add your real resources and a representative number of concurrent testers before choosing a permanent plan.
- Leave headroom for connection spikes, resource restarts, database activity, and logging.
- Keep automated backups of configuration, databases, and custom assets.
- Recheck Cfx.re announcements before purchasing hardware, because early-access builds can change their requirements.
Common migration problems and fixes
Players cannot connect
First confirm that the player installed the separate Enhanced client, owns and has launched the PC version of GTA V, and is using the Enhanced game rather than Legacy. Then verify that the server is running the Cfx Server package, that the endpoint and firewall are correct, and that the player is not attempting cross-play from a Legacy client.

A resource starts but gameplay breaks
Check dependencies and logs, then test the resource alone on a clean server. Look for assumptions about P2P, non-big OneSync, never-reused IDs, or removed Mumble functionality. Replace or update the resource if its author has not confirmed Enhanced support.
Maps or vehicles fail to load
Reconvert streamed assets for Enhanced and test pure-mode compliance. Remove one asset at a time to identify malformed or incompatible files. Keep the original Legacy asset package untouched so you can roll back.
Client modifications are rejected
Enhanced early access does not allow graphic mods, and pure mode is mandatory. Test with an unmodified client and remove any mod that depends on disabling pure mode.
Performance is unstable
Do not assume a headline refresh-rate or RAM claim applies to your server. Capture logs and monitoring data, disable recently added resources, test with a controlled player count, and compare the result after each change. Early-access bugs may require waiting for a Cfx.re update rather than a configuration tweak.
Should you migrate now or wait?
Test Enhanced now if
- You can run a separate test server and keep Legacy available.
- Your community accepts early-access bugs and possible downtime.
- You control your resources and can convert streamed assets.
- You want to validate scripts, databases, and deployment automation before a broader migration.
Stay on Legacy for production if
- Your community needs the largest currently proven player reach.
- Your core resources depend on Mumble, Legacy networking behavior, or unconverted assets.
- You rely on paid or protected scripts whose Enhanced support is unclear.
- You need stable requirements and predictable features for scheduled events.
A staged approach is safest: keep Legacy as the production service, build Enhanced in isolation, invite a controlled test group, document every incompatibility, and migrate only when the player-access policy, resource support, and operational stability meet your requirements.
