The Fisher & Paykel HP90IDCHX2 is a 90 cm integrated rangehood that may suit a kitchen already designed for it, but it is reported discontinued. Its published maximum air movement is 780 m³/hr and its maximum sound rating is 65 dBA; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent results for a particular kitchen. The accessible CHOICE listing does not disclose its expert rating or detailed performance scores. If you are considering one, focus first on cabinet fit, ducting, filter needs, and whether stock and service support are available in your region.
What kind of rangehood is the HP90IDCHX2?
It is a 90 cm built-in integrated rangehood with a stainless-steel and black-glass finish. Its controls and lighting are intended for installation within cabinetry, so it is most straightforward to consider when replacing an existing unit or planning cabinets around its dimensions.

Fisher & Paykel’s 2019 specification sheet gives a maximum pressured air movement of 780 m³/hr under EN61591 and a maximum sound rating of 65 dBA. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not a promise of the airflow or noise you will experience after installation. Duct route, fittings, operating mode, and installation all affect real-world results.

CHOICE’s public model listing identifies its test as ducted, but the accessible page gates the expert rating and detailed performance, ease-of-use, and noise scores behind membership. The public information therefore does not establish an independent numeric score for the HP90IDCHX2. Do not treat the 780 m³/hr maximum as a measured result in your kitchen.
Will it fit your cabinetry and cooktop?
The model-specific 2015 Fisher & Paykel datasheet gives overall dimensions of 830 mm wide, 280 mm deep, and 361 mm high. It specifies a centered cabinet cutout of 800 × 260 mm and a 150 mm duct outlet. A separate 2019 specification sheet lists dimensions of 830 × 315 × 280 mm (width × height × depth), so the published height differs between documents. Check the exact appliance and its installation guide rather than treating those height figures as interchangeable.

CHOICE rounds the appliance dimensions to 32 × 83 × 28 cm and lists a 600–750 mm mounting height. For cabinet work, use the manufacturer’s model-specific sheet and the installation guide applicable to your region and exact variant. Measure the cabinet and cooktop in place before cutting or fitting; the datasheet itself directs installers to the detailed installation manual.
What ducting and operating mode should you plan for?
The datasheet specifies a 150 mm outlet. Fisher & Paykel materials name eave, roof, and side-wall ducting kits, but the suitable kit depends on the route and fittings. Confirm the outlet connection and installation instructions rather than assuming any 150 mm kit will fit.

CHOICE lists carbon filters for recirculating operation, so check whether the specific unit is configured for ducted extraction or recirculation and whether the required parts are present. Recirculation and ducted extraction are different setups; do not assume one can be substituted for the other without checking the model’s instructions and compatible components.
What controls, filters, and replacement parts are specified?
Model-family materials describe three fan speeds, capacitive touch controls, a timer, a filter-cleaning alert, LED lighting, and three dishwasher-safe filters. CHOICE identifies the grease filters as metal and lists carbon filter model 792481 for recirculating use. It says two carbon filters are required and should be replaced every three months. Verify compatibility with the exact appliance variant before ordering.

The model-family reference also lists bulb part 792393. Check the appliance nameplate and official guide before buying a replacement bulb or filters; listings for a model family do not by themselves confirm fit for every regional variant.
Is the HP90IDCHX2 the same as the current related model?
No. Fisher & Paykel’s current Australian product page is for the HP90IDCHX3, a related 90 cm integrated insert with a stated maximum air movement of 780 m³/hr and maximum sound rating of 65 dBA. Its published configuration differs from the X2: the X3 page specifies two filters and four fan speeds, while X2 materials describe three filters and three fan speeds. Do not use X3 feature details as evidence about an X2, and check regional product information because availability and lineup can vary.

What should you check before buying a used or remaining-stock unit?
- Measure the cabinet opening and verify the required cutout against the model-specific installation guide.
- Confirm cooktop clearance requirements for gas versus electric or induction.
- Inspect the duct outlet, route, and included fittings; establish whether the unit is set up for ducted extraction or recirculation.
- Check that the filters and other necessary components are present, and verify replacement-part compatibility for the exact variant.
- Ask the seller or local service provider about warranty status, service support, and part availability in your region.
