The Fisher & Paykel HP60IDCHX2 is a 600 mm-class integrated rangehood, but its listed appliance width is 530 mm and its cabinet cutout is 500 × 260 mm. Before buying or reusing one, confirm the cutout, cooktop clearance and duct route. It can exhaust outdoors or recirculate, though recirculation requires two carbon filters, 150 mm ducting and a louvered vent. CHOICE lists the model as discontinued; its public ducted page does not disclose the detailed test scores needed to judge ducted performance.
Will the HP60IDCHX2 fit your cabinet?
The manufacturer’s 2019 NZ/AU/ROW installation and user guide lists an overall width of 530 mm and depth of 280 mm, with a centered cabinet cutout of 500 × 260 mm. The 2015 datasheet gives the same overall width, depth and cutout, and notes dimensions may vary by ±2 mm. Measure the actual cabinet rather than relying on nominal size alone.
Height figures differ between the two documents and should not be treated as interchangeable. The 2015 datasheet lists 393 mm overall height; the 2019 guide lists 350 mm, or 395 mm with the duct adapter. The guide also gives a chassis width of 492 mm and depth of 255 mm, while the datasheet gives 492 mm and 254 mm. Consult the current, market-specific installation instructions before cutting cabinetry or fitting the appliance.
The guide identifies the unit as 8.2 kg and calls for two people during installation. It lists a 950 mm power cord and a 150 mm ducting adapter with non-return flap in the package. Electrical work and installation should be completed by a suitably qualified person in line with applicable local requirements.

How much clearance does it need above a cooktop?
The 2019 guide specifies a minimum installation height of 600–750 mm above an electric cooktop and 650–750 mm above a gas cooktop. Within the permitted range, the guide says a lower position improves capture of odours, grease and smoke. Confirm the applicable local rules and the instructions for your cooktop as well as the rangehood guide.
Should you choose ducted or recirculating installation?
External exhaust
For external exhaust, the outlet is 150 mm. The manufacturer recommends rigid or semi-rigid 150 mm ducting and a short, straight route. Elbows and transitions can add noise and reduce airflow efficiency, so check the route before installation rather than assuming the duct can be adapted without a trade-off.

Recirculation
Recirculating installation requires compatible carbon filters, 150 mm ducting and a 150 mm louvered vent positioned so air returns to the kitchen. The guide says it is not permitted to discharge air directly into the cabinet without the duct and louvered vent. Two carbon filters are required; the manufacturer identifies part 792481. Replace them at least every three months, with actual life depending on use.

Its accessible ducted page marks the model “Discontinued model” and lists one fan, three speeds, a recommended 150 mm duct diameter and LED lighting. CHOICE reports a 53% score for recirculating mode. That figure is mode-specific, and the accessible page does not state a year; it is not the ducted expert rating. The recirculating page also reports two carbon filters, replacement every three months, part reference 792481 and an annual filter price of $292. That is a page-reported figure, not a current supplier quote. CHOICE’s ducted page displays $1,049, but does not establish a current seller offer or availability.
These public details can help identify the model and its recirculation upkeep, but they do not establish that it is currently purchasable or provide enough visible test evidence for a broad recommendation.

How do the controls and maintenance work?
The touch panel provides fan speeds 1–3, lights, power, a timer and a filter-cleaning alert. The timer runs for five minutes at the selected speed, then steps down through each lower speed before stopping. Pressing and holding the light control adjusts the light level.
- Aluminium grease filters: Remove and wash at least monthly, depending on use. Dishwasher cleaning is allowed, although the manufacturer warns that the frame may discolour.
- Carbon filters: Disposable filters for recirculation; replace at least every three months, depending on frequency of use.
- Listed parts: The guide identifies the aluminium filter as 792429 and LED bulb as 792603. Check the appliance nameplate and confirm compatibility before ordering; the guide does not establish current part prices.
Who should consider this model?
The HP60IDCHX2 may suit a renovation or replacement where the measured cabinet cutout, cooktop clearance and ventilation route match the guide. Recirculation is possible, but adds recurring filter upkeep and requires a proper duct-and-louver arrangement. If you are assessing an existing unit, identify whether it is ducted or recirculating before interpreting review scores or estimating filter needs.
