First National Bank of America (FNBA) offers fixed-rate CDs from 3 months to 10 years, with listed APYs of 3.85% to 4.65% and a $1,000 minimum to obtain those rates. The strongest reason to consider one is the broad choice of maturities; the main drawback is limited access to your money, with early-withdrawal penalties that can reduce principal. The rates below are those FNBA marked accurate October 6, 2026, and can change without notice.
FNBA CD rates and terms
FNBA sets the rate at account opening and keeps it fixed for the term. The bank’s rate page lists the following APYs, each requiring a $1,000 minimum balance. APY assumes principal and interest remain on deposit until maturity; fees could reduce earnings. Deposits over $1 million require a call for rates. The same listed rates are available on HSA, Roth, and Traditional IRA CDs. FNBA rate page

What opening and managing an FNBA CD involves
- Funding: Online deposits are funded by ACH from a checking or savings account. FNBA says it cannot accept an ACH transfer from a brokerage account, annuity, or another CD.
- Interest: Interest compounds quarterly by default and is added to the certificate. After opening, you may request interest by check or direct deposit.
- Fees and access: FNBA says CDs have no monthly fee. External withdrawals may take up to ten business days.
- Channel: Online and in-branch CDs have the same rates. FNBA’s FAQ describes online account opening; CNBC Select reported on August 27, 2026, that the Michigan-based bank had branches in East Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City. That branch information is dated third-party reporting, not a live branch-locator check. CNBC Select review
Early-withdrawal penalties and liquidity
FNBA permits partial withdrawals, but says the penalty may reduce principal. Its FAQ gives this schedule:
#1 Best Overall
| CD term | Penalty stated by FNBA |
|---|---|
| 1–11 months | 90 days of interest |
| 12–23 months | 180 days of interest |
| 24–47 months | 360 days of interest |
| 48–84 months | 540 days of interest |
| 96–120 months | 720 days of interest |
The current product menu has no terms from 85 to 95 months, which is why the penalty schedule skips that span. Review the disclosure for the specific term before opening; FNBA’s disclosure index includes individual term disclosures and a certificate account agreement. FNBA account disclosures
Bankrate says FNBA does not offer no-penalty or bump-up CDs and describes its longer-term penalties as steep. If access to funds or the possibility of rising rates matters, a fixed CD with this penalty schedule may be a poor match. Bankrate CD review
Maturity, renewal, and the grace period
FNBA says it mails a maturity notice approximately 30 days before the CD matures. If you take no action, the account automatically renews for the same term at the rate then offered. The other choices described by the bank are selecting a new term, withdrawing part and renewing the remainder, or withdrawing all funds.

Who FNBA CDs may suit
FNBA is worth considering if you want a wide range of fixed-rate maturities, can meet the $1,000 minimum, and expect to leave the money untouched until maturity. It is less suitable if you may need early access, want the option to raise your rate during the term, or could miss the maturity window and be uncomfortable with automatic renewal. Bankrate gave FNBA’s CDs an editorial score of 4.3 out of 5; that is a product rating, not a customer-satisfaction survey result. Bankrate CD review
