Firelight does not impose a permanent lock on deposited FXRP, but its withdrawal queue can delay the final claim. Under the one-day periods described in current documentation, a request generally takes about one to two days. If the planned 30-day coverage periods are activated, the same queue rule could make a withdrawal claimable after just over 30 days or close to 60 days, depending on when the request is submitted.
What Firelight deposits represent
Firelight runs a vault on Flare where users deposit FXRP, an XRP-linked asset, and receive stXRP. stXRP is an ERC-20 receipt token representing the deposited FXRP and can be transferred or used elsewhere in Flare’s decentralized-finance ecosystem.
The protocol’s Phase 2 design is intended to use deposited FXRP as collateral for DeFi protection. Protocols that buy cover pay premiums, and those premiums are intended to create income for vault participants. That makes the position more like risk-bearing collateral for on-chain cover than a conventional savings account: returns depend on premiums, while a qualifying claim can reduce the principal eventually returned.
How the withdrawal queue works
A withdrawal request is not immediately claimable. Firelight’s documented rule is that a request submitted during one coverage period becomes claimable only after the following full period ends. Capital in that queue stops earning new rewards, but it remains exposed to the relevant coverage risk until the claim can be completed.

Current one-day periods
The documentation cited for the current vault describes one-day coverage periods. A request made near the start of a period waits for that period to finish and then the next period to finish before claiming, producing a practical delay of roughly one to two days. The exact wait depends on the request’s position within the active period.
Why the maximum can approach 60 days
Firelight has described a possible 30-day period setting. With the same “following period ends” rule, a request near the end of a period could become claimable shortly after 30 days. A request near the beginning could wait through almost the rest of the current 30-day period and then the next 30-day period, bringing the total close to 60 days.

| Coverage-period setting | When the request is submitted | Approximate time until claim |
|---|---|---|
| One day | Any point in the daily period | About one to two days |
| 30 days (planned setting) | Near the end of a period | Just over 30 days |
| 30 days (planned setting) | Near the beginning of a period | Nearly 60 days |
The “up to 60 days” figure is therefore a consequence of period length and request timing, not evidence of an indefinite lock. Bifrost’s support guidance describes the current vault as having a cooldown rather than a permanent inability to withdraw. The available documentation still identifies one-day periods as current, so readers should check the withdrawal screen for the live, vault-specific cooldown before depositing.

Once the withdrawal process starts, the queued position no longer earns new Firelight rewards. Waiting longer does not compensate the user with additional rewards while the request is pending.

A claim can reduce the amount returned
If an eligible coverage claim is associated with the period in which the user’s FXRP was backing protection, the final amount returned can be lower than the amount deposited. The queue does not remove that exposure merely because a withdrawal has been requested.
The First-Loss Buffer is not a guarantee
Firelight’s documented loss waterfall places a protocol-funded stablecoin First-Loss Buffer ahead of staked FXRP. That ordering may absorb losses before vault capital is affected, but the available material does not establish the buffer’s current balance or show that a paid claim has occurred. It should not be treated as proof that deposited principal is protected.

How to withdraw FXRP from Firelight
- Open the Firelight vault interface and review the displayed cooldown for that specific vault. The period shown in the interface is more relevant than an older general description.
- Submit the withdrawal request for the desired amount. Confirm that the transaction uses the intended wallet and vault.
- Monitor the pending-withdrawal status through the cooldown. The queued amount should be treated as non-earning capital during this stage.
- When the interface marks the request claimable, submit the final claim transaction.
- Keep enough FLR in the wallet to pay the final transaction fee. Bifrost’s support instructions specifically call out the need for FLR at claim time.
If the claim button is unavailable, the period has not fully ended, the request may be in a different vault queue, or the wallet may lack FLR for transaction fees. Verify the vault-specific status and the wallet network before retrying; do not assume that a longer wait means the funds are permanently locked.
What Firelight’s TVL does—and does not—tell you
DefiLlama listings cited for Firelight show two different dated measurements: $71.74 million in a September 13, 2026 snapshot and $78.22 million in another 2026 listing snapshot. These figures represent deposited vault assets at those measurement times, not a live balance at publication.

| Metric | Reported figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| September 13, 2026 snapshot | $71.74 million | Vault assets reported at that snapshot |
| Other 2026 listing snapshot | $78.22 million | Vault assets reported in that listing |
Neither number establishes how much DeFi coverage Firelight sold, how much premium it collected, or whether premiums were sufficient to offset withdrawal delays and claim losses. TVL is a scale indicator, not a profitability report or evidence that the vault has adequate reserves.
Is staking XRP through Firelight worth the lockup?
The decision depends on three separate trade-offs:
| Decision axis | Question to answer | Risk to recognize |
|---|---|---|
| Liquidity | Can you leave FXRP unavailable for one to two days now, or potentially more than 30 days if longer periods are enabled? | A request cannot be claimed until the following full period ends. |
| Yield | Are expected premium-derived rewards attractive enough for the time capital is committed? | Rewards stop when withdrawal begins. |
| Principal | Can you tolerate receiving less FXRP after an eligible claim? | Coverage losses can pass through after the documented First-Loss Buffer. |
Firelight may suit users who understand DeFi-cover risk and can forgo immediate liquidity. It is a poor fit for funds needed on a fixed date, for a position marketed as guaranteed yield, or for anyone unwilling to accept claim-related principal loss.
Quick Recap
Checks to make before depositing
- Confirm the active period and cooldown in the withdrawal interface rather than relying on a “60-day” headline or an old one-day description.
- Review how the vault defines an eligible claim and how losses flow from the First-Loss Buffer to staked FXRP.
- Decide how much FXRP can remain queued without access or rewards.
- Keep FLR available for both the withdrawal request and final claim transactions.
- Treat third-party TVL figures as dated snapshots, not proof of reserves, coverage sold, or realized income.
