The September 25, 2026 update for Fire Emblem Shadows adds Book 4, An Island Apart, Chapters 1 and 2 for both Light and Shadow, along with Black Knight: Sword Spirit and A+ support conversations. Nintendo’s official update and preview notices do not mention “Flame Lords,” so that phrase is not a confirmed feature of this update.
What the Book 4 update adds
Nintendo’s September 25, 2026 update notice introduces An Island Apart. In its story, Kurt and the others from Book 1 escape to Rose’s homeland, Holtz, take refuge among its islands, and face pursuit by the empire. How to unlock Book 4 chapters
Book chapters unlock with Story Fragments earned as battle rewards. Nintendo says players must collect all Book 1 story rewards before they can access and switch to new Books.

- From the home screen, choose Change Stories to access and switch to the new Book.
How to get Black Knight: Sword Spirit
Black Knight: Sword Spirit is a new disciple of shadow. Nintendo lists three ways to obtain his Souls: a limited-time login bonus, Book 4 story rewards, and treasure chests from battles or the Bazaar. The update notice does not give a lasting end date for the login bonus, so check the in-game notice for its availability.

Black Knight’s listed combat details
Nintendo identifies his weapon as a red sword and his type as armored. The listed Level 1 stats differ by side:

What A+ support conversations do
The Book 4 preview announces A+ as a new support-conversation level. Unlocking A+ lets a player equip a magic skill exclusive to their support partner. Nintendo’s September 24, 2026 preview connected Book 4 with the game’s one-year celebration and announced a Fair Shadow season pass featuring Dietrich: Fair Shadow. Event bonuses and pass availability can be time-limited; consult current in-game dates and notices rather than assuming the offer remains active.

Is “Flame Lords” part of the update?
Not according to the official materials reviewed: neither Nintendo’s September 25 update notice nor its September 24 preview mentions “Flame Lords.” The confirmed update is Book 4, An Island Apart, with the additions described above. Unless Nintendo announces otherwise, treat “Flame Lords” as unverified rather than an update feature.
Where to play Fire Emblem Shadows
Nintendo describes Fire Emblem Shadows as a smart-device game for iOS and Android, free to start with optional in-game purchases. Its battles combine real-time strategy and social deduction.
