Nintendo has launched Wave 1 of the paid Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass on October 15, 2026. The $34.99 pass for Nintendo Switch 2 includes three planned content waves, but it requires the full game and does not sell the waves individually.
What the Expansion Pass includes
The Expansion Pass adds downloadable content in three waves. Nintendo describes the first release as prototype weapons for the game’s four heroes, with designs modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Those weapons are available now.

Nintendo’s announcement describes the plan as: “This Expansion Pass DLC will add extra content in three different waves, with Wave 1 coming out…today!” The pass is a single purchase covering all three waves; there is no option to buy only the currently available content.

Wave 1 — available October 15, 2026
- Prototype weapons for the four heroes.
- Weapon designs inspired by the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
- Available on launch day for the Expansion Pass.
Wave 2 — scheduled for winter 2026
- The gods Mars, Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah.
- New outfits.
Nintendo has announced the season as winter 2026 but has not provided a more specific release date in the launch announcement. Wave 2 is therefore planned content, not part of today’s release.

The announcement places Wave 3 in 2027 without naming a launch day or detailing every item included in the wave.
Release date, platform and game setting
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s official video description gives the base game’s release date as September 17, 2026. The story is set in the Dagdan Empire, where fighters enter the Heroic Games for the chance to have one wish granted.

The Expansion Pass is available through the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2 and through Nintendo Store. Because the pass is DLC for Fortune’s Weave, Nintendo requires the full version of the game to use it.

Do you need the full game?
Yes. Nintendo states that the full version of Fortune’s Weave is required. Buying the Expansion Pass alone does not provide the base game. If you already own the game, the $34.99 pass is the relevant purchase. If you do not own it, Nintendo’s $104.99 game-plus-pass bundle combines both products at the listed US price.
What buyers receive today—and what remains future content
The only content confirmed as available on October 15 is Wave 1’s prototype-weapon set. The four named gods and outfits belong to the winter 2026 schedule, while the new stories, allies and class types are scheduled for 2027. Purchasing the pass grants access to those planned waves when Nintendo releases them, but the announcement does not provide exact dates for either future wave.

Who should buy the pass now?
- Existing players: Buy it if the four prototype weapons are worth $34.99 to you and you want the announced future waves.
- New players: Choose the $104.99 bundle if you already intend to buy the game and all three DLC waves.
- Players interested only in Wave 1: There is no wave-by-wave purchase option, so the pass is an all-or-nothing purchase.
- Players waiting for story or class additions: Those features are not in Wave 1; the announced story and class content is scheduled for Wave 3 in 2027.
What Nintendo has not announced
Nintendo’s launch information does not give a more precise date for Wave 2, a date for Wave 3, separate wave prices, sales figures, player counts, review scores, completion-time estimates or performance measurements. Those details should not be treated as known features of the pass.
