For this guide, “budget” means headphones positioned as lower-cost options rather than products under a fixed price cap. Because prices and availability vary by country and retailer, check current listings in your market before buying. The five picks below suit different priorities—everyday wireless listening, calls, wired simplicity, or gaming—and are recommendations based on the linked publishers’ reviews and product specifications, not independent testing by itechguides.com.
Five budget headphones with a mic, matched to how you use them
| Model | Best suited to | Connection and fit | What to know about the mic |
|---|---|---|---|
| CMF Headphone Pro | Everyday wireless listening | Bluetooth; over-ear | RTINGS says voices sound less natural than on the JBL Tune 760NC. Not the call-quality pick. |
| JBL Tune 760NC | Wireless calls in ordinary or moderately noisy settings | Bluetooth; over-ear; ANC | RTINGS finds speech clear and understandable, though somewhat thin; loud subway noise can overwhelm it. |
| Anker Soundcore Life Q20 2024 | Wireless value and a lighter fit | Bluetooth; over-ear | RTINGS reports more natural call voice than the CMF, but rates the build as flimsier. |
| SoundMagic E11C | Wired listening without battery charging | 3.5 mm cable; in-ear | What Hi-Fi? lists a built-in mic and controls. Check that your device accepts its connector. |
| Logitech G432 | Gaming and team chat | Wired TRRS; over-ear gaming headset | RTINGS says the boom mic keeps speech clear to teammates in moderately noisy conditions. |
These models do not have interchangeable strengths. A mic being present does not mean it will deliver the same voice quality in a quiet room, on a street, or in a game chat. For more detail on each trade-off, see the sections below.
Which wireless over-ear headphones fit your priorities?
CMF Headphone Pro: everyday listening, not the call specialist
RTINGS names the CMF Headphone Pro its best budget Bluetooth headphone, citing active noise cancellation (ANC), long battery life, and sturdier materials at vulnerable hinge points. It reports 46 hours of battery life for the reviewed model; check the RTINGS guide for the model and test details. The trade-offs are relatively high clamping force and a microphone that does not reproduce voices very naturally. Choose it for general wireless use rather than frequent calls.
JBL Tune 760NC: the stronger calls pick in this group
RTINGS recommends the Tune 760NC as its budget Bluetooth headphone for calls. It says voices are clear and understandable but somewhat thin, and remain intelligible with moderate background noise; loud subway noise can swamp the mic. ANC helps more with mid- and high-frequency noise than with low engine rumble, so do not assume that noise cancellation will make every noisy commute a good place for calls. RTINGS’ review guide supports these observations.
#1 Best Overall
- Digital Stereo Sound: Fine-tuned drivers provide enhanced digital audio for music, calls, meetings and more
- Rotating Noise Canceling Mic: Minimizes unwanted background noise for clear conversations; the rotating boom arm can be tucked out of the way when you’re not using it
- Handy In-line Controls: Simple in-line controls on the headset cable let you adjust the volume or mute calls without disruption
- Plug-and-Play USB Computer Headset: Simply plug the USB-A connector into your computer and you’re ready to talk or listen without the need to install software
- Padded Comfort: Comfortable headphones with adjustable headband features swivel-mounted, leatherette ear cushions for hours of comfort and is easy to clean
JBL’s product page specifies a built-in microphone, hands-free calling, ANC, and Bluetooth 5. JBL claims up to 50 hours of playback with ANC off or up to 35 hours with ANC on; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent battery measurements. See the JBL Tune 760NC specifications.
Soundcore Life Q20 2024: a value alternative with a lighter fit
For the 2024 version of the Soundcore Life Q20, RTINGS reports a lighter, more comfortable fit than the CMF, more natural call voice, and 49 hours of battery life. It also describes the build as flimsier and the included case as soft fabric. Its noise isolation varies by sound: chatter and low engine noise do not produce the same result. Consult RTINGS’ guide for its assessment of the reviewed version.

When wired headphones make more sense
SoundMagic E11C: avoid charging, check the connector
The SoundMagic E11C is a wired in-ear option with a built-in mic and controls and a 3.5 mm connector, according to What Hi-Fi?’s budget-headphone guide. It can suit someone who wants to avoid charging another device, but it will not plug directly into every phone, tablet, or laptop. Confirm that your device has a compatible 3.5 mm jack or supports an appropriate adapter. What Hi-Fi? is UK-oriented, so its retailer prices are not a reliable US price benchmark.
What to choose for gaming and team chat
Logitech G432: a dedicated wired headset with a boom mic
RTINGS names the Logitech G432 its best budget gaming headset in its under-$50 guide. The wired TRRS cable connects to many consoles and controllers; other ports may require adapters. RTINGS says the boom mic makes speech clear to teammates in moderately noisy conditions. It also flags inconsistent audio delivery affected by fit and weaker low bass, so adjust the headset position and verify platform compatibility before purchase. Check RTINGS’ gaming-headset guide for its current recommendation and pricing context.

Match microphone performance to your surroundings
- Quiet room or moderate background noise: The JBL Tune 760NC is the calls-oriented wireless pick here; the Logitech G432 is aimed at gaming chat. Their mic designs and connections differ, so choose for the task rather than assuming one is universally better.
- Loud public transit: The JBL’s mic may be overwhelmed by loud subway noise, and ANC does not eliminate every kind of noise equally. If calls in that setting are essential, these reviews do not establish a model that will reliably solve the problem.
- Music first, calls occasionally: The CMF Headphone Pro is an everyday wireless candidate, but its mic is less natural-sounding than the call-oriented alternatives described by RTINGS.
Choose a connection your devices can use
- Bluetooth: convenient for phones and other compatible devices, but wireless headphones require charging. Check the device’s Bluetooth support and any call or audio restrictions that matter to your setup.
- 3.5 mm wired: avoids battery dependence, but the device needs a compatible jack or adapter. The SoundMagic E11C uses this connection.
- TRRS wired gaming headset: can connect to many controllers and consoles; adapter needs vary by platform and port. Verify the G432’s compatibility with your specific setup before ordering.
Check fit and isolation, not just the feature list
Over-ear models can feel different depending on clamp and head shape; RTINGS notes relatively high clamping force for the CMF and a lighter, more comfortable fit for the 2024 Q20. In-ear headphones like the E11C have a different fit altogether. If possible, try a model or check its return policy. Open-back designs are generally a poor choice where isolation matters: RTINGS notes they leak sound and do not block background noise effectively. See its budget and cheap headphone guide for that distinction.

- The included Y-type cord with cord-slider prevents tangles on the go.

Check price and exact model before buying
This lineup has no single universal price ceiling or regional price list. Prices, stock, and availability change, and the sources do not establish one current price that applies across markets. Compare live listings in your country, confirm the exact model name—especially the Soundcore Life Q20 2024 version—and check what connection, accessories, or adapters are included. A low listed price is not a good value if the headset cannot connect to your device or its fit and mic do not suit your main use.
