- Start at the Mushroom Village Gate Beacon and move up toward the gate.
- Cross the first bridge, then take the bridge to the right.
- Continue to the trial spire and defeat the hammer-wielding enemies in the trial.
- Open the chest at the end to collect Marksman’s Stone.

The item description is “Improves ranged Critical Chance.” MortalShellDB classifies it as a Support Tarstone and says it fits any sidearm; NerdsChalk likewise describes it as passive and installed in a Support Slot. It improves the chance of a ranged attack landing as a critical hit, rather than increasing critical-hit damage. MortalShellDB’s item entry provides the slot and sidearm details.

Its benefit is relevant when using ranged attacks. It does not improve melee swings, so a melee-only loadout gets no stated benefit from this stone.

Gamer Guides lists three ranged Critical Chance bonuses: +10%, +12%, and +15%. The accessible references do not consistently attach the same level labels to those values, so treat the percentages as the listed progression rather than assuming a specific level mapping.

NerdsChalk labels the same values Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 after a base-effect line, while MortalShellDB describes levels 1 through 3 without numeric values. Check the in-game item UI for the level labels corresponding to your current version. The item database’s Marksman’s Stone listing does not provide the numeric progression.

Marksman’s Stone versus Deadeye Stone
These Tarstones address different parts of a ranged critical build: Marksman’s Stone raises the chance of a critical hit, while Deadeye Stone raises critical damage. Gamer Guides lists Deadeye Stone in a chest in Sanguine Caverns and gives +20%, +30%, and +40% Critical Damage across its listed upgrades; the page does not establish explicit level labels in the accessible text.

The comparison is between chance and damage, not two interchangeable versions of the same bonus. If a ranged build already lands critical hits often, damage may be the more relevant axis; if it needs more frequent critical hits, Marksman’s Stone addresses that chance. The listed sources do not provide controlled performance comparisons between the two.
Gamer Guides’ Deadeye Stone entry provides the damage values and location. NerdsChalk also reports that projectiles that hit critically deal Break Damage, but that interaction is not independently established by the other item references; verify the current in-game behavior before building around it.

What is confirmed—and what to verify in-game
The item’s Support role, ranged Critical Chance effect, and sidearm compatibility are consistent across item references. The Beacon-and-trial route comes from one guide, and the numeric upgrade values are reported by Gamer Guides with differing level labels across sources. The official patch-notes page reviewed does not verify this item’s location or current numeric values; it discusses changes to other Tarstones. Mortal Shell 2 patch notes therefore do not settle those item-specific details.
