The Headsman’s Stone is in a chest by a tree and ruins near Road to Absolution, southeast of the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. One detailed route guide says you must first obtain Mether’s Breath and use it to clear a corruption barrier in Marrow Keep. The stone is a Support Tarstone whose reported effect increases melee Critical Damage.
Where to find the Headsman’s Stone
Look for a chest beside a large tree near the ruins in or near Road to Absolution. Guides place the area southeast of the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. PowerPyx calls the item “Headman’s Stone,” but Nerd’s Chalk and a beta-client item listing spell it “Headsman’s Stone.”
The detailed route below follows Nerd’s Chalk’s guide, updated August 21, 2026. PowerPyx’s August 17, 2026 collectible guide supports the broad landmark location—ruins, a tree, and a chest southeast of the beacon—but does not independently confirm the Mether’s Breath requirement.
How to reach the chest
- Get Mether’s Breath. Progress through the game, collect Ovum, then return to the Gloom Siphon in Marrow Keep and turn in the Ovum.
- Open the route through Marrow Keep. Return to the upper part of Marrow Keep, ride the central lift, and enter the circular chamber. Use Mether’s Breath on the black branch corruption barrier, then go through the opened portal and select Outskirts of Mammon.
- Follow the road down. From the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, take the descending road into Road to Absolution.
- Find the lower path and chest. Drop from the stone edge to the lower grassy cliffside path. Circle the large tree toward the stone altar structure and nearby ruins; the chest is behind the tree.
Nerd’s Chalk says fights along the approach are optional if you only want to collect the Tarstone. PowerPyx mentions Grisha Hunter enemies near the ruins, but does not establish that they must be defeated to reach the chest.

What the Headsman’s Stone does
The Headsman’s Stone is categorized as a Support Tarstone. Its reported effect is to increase melee Critical Damage, so it is relevant to a build that lands melee critical hits; extra critical damage has less practical value if your attacks rarely crit. Nerd’s Chalk suggests pairing it with effects that increase melee critical chance or guarantee critical attacks. That is a build suggestion from the guide, not independently verified testing.
Are the upgrade values confirmed?
No reliable, consistent retail level table is established by the available accounts. Nerd’s Chalk reports +5% Critical Damage at Level 1, then lists +50%, +80%, and +100% for Levels 2, 3, and 4. A separate wiki instead lists +50%, +80%, and +100% for Levels 1, 2, and 3. These accounts disagree both on the first value and on level indexing.

A beta-client listing checked August 18, 2026, for Open Beta build 24459107 confirms the effect wording, but explicitly limits its information to beta UI text; it does not verify final retail values. Check the current in-game Tarstone screen for the value and level shown in your copy of the game rather than relying on either published table.
