Samsung Cloud is accessed from a compatible Galaxy device’s Settings app with a Samsung account; Samsung’s current support guidance does not describe it as a separate desktop download. Use it to back up and restore supported device data or sync selected Samsung app data. The menu names and available categories vary by device, software version, country, and carrier.
Where to find Samsung Cloud
On your Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings and look for Samsung Cloud. Depending on your software version, the path may be Settings > Samsung account > Samsung Cloud or Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud. Sign in to a Samsung account if prompted. Samsung’s Japan support guide and India support guide show these settings-based routes.
If neither route appears, check the Settings search field for “Samsung Cloud” and follow the labels on your device. The service’s availability and controls depend on the Galaxy model, operating system, and regional or carrier support.
What Samsung Cloud can back up, restore, and sync
Samsung Cloud has two distinct jobs: a device backup that can be used for restoration, and synchronization that keeps selected supported data aligned across devices signed in to the same Samsung account. The categories offered vary; check the options shown on your own Samsung Cloud screen.

- Backup and restore: Depending on the device, available items can include contacts, messages, settings, apps, call logs, calendar data, and voice recordings.
- Sync: Selected Samsung app data can be synchronized between supported devices. Samsung India describes sync as matching data across devices using the same Samsung account.
These options are not a guarantee that every item on the phone is included. Samsung’s Australia support guidance notes that contacts and calendars linked to a Google account may not be included in Samsung Cloud sync. Check which account stores a particular contact or calendar entry before relying on Samsung Cloud to copy it.
Back up your Galaxy device
- Open Settings and go to Samsung account > Samsung Cloud, or Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud, depending on your device.
- Open the backup control and review the data categories available on screen.
- Select the categories you want included, then start the backup. Keep the device connected to Wi-Fi if possible; Samsung recommends Wi-Fi in its regional instructions to avoid mobile data charges.
- Wait for the process to finish and check the displayed status or last-backup time.
Samsung Australia says files larger than 1 GB cannot be backed up to Samsung Cloud. That is Australia-specific support guidance, not an established worldwide limit; consult the rules displayed for your region and device.

Restore a saved backup
- On the Galaxy device, open Settings and navigate to Samsung Cloud through the Samsung account or Accounts and backup menu.
- Choose Restore data.
- Select the backup for the device you want to restore from, then choose the available data categories.
- Confirm the restore and allow it to complete. The items and prompts can vary by software version.
When setting up a new Galaxy device, sign in to the same Samsung account and use the restore option if it is offered during initial setup. Samsung’s US support page also lists restore and other Galaxy backup options.
Turn on sync—and understand what it does
In Samsung Cloud, select the supported data or Samsung apps you want to sync, enable sync, and tap Sync now if that control is available. Sync is not simply a one-way archive: Samsung India’s sync explanation says an edit or deletion on one synced device is reflected on other devices using the same Samsung account. If you need a recoverable copy rather than changes mirrored across devices, use the backup and restore controls where available.

Samsung Cloud and Gallery’s OneDrive sync in Japan
Samsung Japan’s notice updated October 2, 2026 says Microsoft OneDrive sync in Gallery ended on September 30, 2026. According to that Japan notice, Gallery can no longer display OneDrive content through that sync; use the OneDrive app to download images or videos that were not migrated before the end date. This is regional guidance from Samsung Japan and should not be treated as a universal set of instructions for every country.

Samsung Cloud is useful for supported Samsung-account and device data, but it is not the only way to preserve or move Galaxy content. Samsung US lists microSD, Google backup services, and direct PC or Mac connections among other backup and restore options; Samsung support also references Smart Switch for data migration.
