Finding an attire does not automatically change Torrent’s look. You need to rest at a Site of Grace after the pickup. The grace menu then includes the spectral-steed appearance option, where the collected attire can be selected.

Tree Sentinel: Stormveil Castle chest
Where the chest is
Tree Sentinel is inside a chest in Stormveil Castle’s throne-room area, beyond the arena used for the Godrick the Grafted encounter. It is not the field boss’s equipment and is not obtained by defeating the Tree Sentinel enemy outside the castle. The important distinction is the interior chest in the throne-room section.
Route from the Godrick the Grafted Site of Grace
- Rest at the Godrick the Grafted Site of Grace after the arena route is available.
- Leave the grace and proceed toward the throne-room area rather than backtracking through the main approach to the castle.
- At the throne, look for the right-hand doorway behind it. PC Gamer uses that doorway as the key orientation point.
- Follow the adjoining turn described by Nintendo Life as a right followed by a left. The chest is in this throne-room section.
- Open the chest and collect Tree Sentinel.
Stormveil’s rooms can look similar when approached from different entrances, so use the throne and the doorway behind it as the reliable visual references. If you reach a familiar combat route or the outside castle walls again, you have likely doubled back instead of entering the throne-room section.
Common Tree Sentinel mistakes
- Searching the exterior boss: the attire is not a drop from the Tree Sentinel enemy encountered in the open world.
- Stopping at the arena: continue into the throne-room section beyond Godrick’s arena; the chest is not described as being in the boss room itself.
- Taking the wrong doorway: the doorway behind the throne is the useful orientation point, followed by the adjoining turn.
Carian Silver: Ranni’s Rise chest
Unlocking the area
Carian Silver is in Ranni’s Rise, a tower in northern Liurnia of the Lakes. Getting there is not an early-game shortcut: the route runs through Caria Manor and requires defeating Royal Knight Loretta. Complete that progression before trying to locate the chest, otherwise the tower route may not be available.
Finding the chest inside the tower
- Travel to Ranni’s Rise in northern Liurnia.
- Enter the tower and locate its main room.
- Find the Site of Grace in that room. The Carian Silver chest is next to it.
- Open the chest and take the Carian Silver attire.
- Rest at the nearby grace, or use another Site of Grace later, to open the spectral-steed appearance menu.
This is the simplest of the three pickups once the area is unlocked because the chest and grace share the main room. You do not need to search the tower roof, surrounding grounds, or a hidden underground passage for this item.

If you can reach northern Liurnia but cannot enter the relevant tower area, check your Caria Manor progress first. The stated requirement is not merely reaching Liurnia; it is clearing Caria Manor and defeating Royal Knight Loretta. That makes Carian Silver the item most likely to be mistaken for a missing chest when the actual problem is access.
Funereal Night: Altus Plateau ground pickup
The landmark that matters
Funereal Night is not in a chest. It is a ground item beside a small sword at a sword memorial on the Altus Plateau. The memorial is near the Hermit Merchant’s Shack and the Outer Wall Battleground area, making those landmarks more useful than a single compass bearing from a grace.
How to collect it
- Reach the Altus Plateau and travel toward the sword memorial near the Hermit Merchant’s Shack and Outer Wall Battleground.
- Look for the memorial itself rather than searching every nearby building or merchant location.
- Inspect the ground beside the memorial’s small sword.
- Pick up the item labeled Funereal Night.
- Rest at a Site of Grace and select the spectral-steed appearance option to apply it.
Guides use different nearby graces and describe the approach in slightly different ways. That variation does not change the pickup: the small sword at the memorial is the decisive visual clue. If you are checking chests or searching inside the Hermit Merchant’s Shack, you are in the wrong place.
Use the memorial, not a compass bearing
Because nearby route descriptions differ, avoid treating one grace-to-grace direction as mandatory. Approach the general area, identify the sword memorial, and then inspect the ground beside its small sword. The memorial is the stable reference shared by the location descriptions; the precise starting grace can vary with how much of Altus Plateau you have already explored.
Equip a collected Torrent attire
- Return to any discovered Site of Grace.
- Choose the grace-menu option for spectral-steed appearance.
- Highlight Tree Sentinel, Carian Silver, or Funereal Night, depending on which items you have collected.
- Confirm the selection and leave the menu. Summoning Torrent afterward shows the chosen appearance.
The appearance menu is separate from ordinary character equipment. You do not equip these items from the armor, talisman, or inventory screens, and collecting one does not replace your current choice until you confirm it in the spectral-steed menu.
You can collect the attires in any order and change between collected looks whenever you rest. The grace menu is therefore both the activation point and the place to switch back to another collected appearance; returning to the original default look is handled from the same spectral-steed screen.
Which skin should you collect first?
Your best order depends on travel progress rather than power. - Working through Liurnia’s manor content: collect Carian Silver after Caria Manor and Royal Knight Loretta have been cleared. The chest is immediately identifiable once you reach Ranni’s Rise.
- Established in Altus Plateau: collect Funereal Night by navigating to the sword memorial. Use the small sword and nearby landmarks instead of relying on a precise route description.
Troubleshooting missed pickups
The chest or item is not there
- For Tree Sentinel, confirm that you are in the throne-room area beyond Godrick’s arena, not outside the castle or in a different room near the boss route.
- For Carian Silver, verify that you are inside the main room of Ranni’s Rise and checking beside its Site of Grace.
- For Funereal Night, stop looking for a chest. Inspect the ground beside the small sword at the Altus Plateau memorial.
The spectral-steed option is missing
Rest at the Site of Grace again and check the grace menu rather than the equipment screen. If no spectral-steed appearance option appears after collecting an item, confirm that the game installation or edition includes the additional attire content. You cannot reach a location
Carian Silver has the clearest progression requirement: Caria Manor and Royal Knight Loretta must be completed before Ranni’s Rise is accessible by the described route. Tree Sentinel depends on access to the post-Godrick throne-room section. Funereal Night depends on reaching the Altus Plateau. These are access gates, not alternate methods for obtaining the items.
