To find Dell Power Manager, open Dell’s Power Manager support page, then check the Drivers & Downloads listing for your exact computer. Dell now directs many users to a newer app: Dell Optimizer for Latitude, Precision, and OptiPlex, or MyDell for XPS, Inspiron, and Vostro. The model-specific listing is the best way to confirm which app and version Dell provides for your device.
Find the right Dell power-management app for your computer
Dell’s guidance is product-family based, but availability depends on the exact model. Start at Dell’s Power Manager support article, or go directly to Dell Support and look up your computer.

How to check Dell’s download listing
- Open Dell Support and identify your computer. If Dell does not detect it, choose Browse all products and navigate to the model.
- Open Drivers & Downloads. On Dell’s Power Manager support flow, select This Device when prompted.
- Choose Application under Category and review the available app listings.
- Install the app Dell lists for your model, following the download page’s instructions.
Dell describes the current app lookup in its Power Manager support guidance.

Install legacy Dell Power Manager if Dell lists it
If your model’s listing includes legacy Power Manager, Dell’s version 3.18 User’s Guide describes installing it from the support site as a Dell Update Package (DUP) executable.
- Go to Dell Support and search for your computer model.
- Select Drivers & Downloads and locate Dell Power Manager in the available packages.
- Download the DUP executable, double-click it, and follow the installer wizard to install or upgrade the application.
See Dell’s version 3.18 installation instructions and its installation and upgrade guide. If Dell does not list the legacy app for your model, do not assume an older package will be compatible.

What Dell Power Manager can control
Depending on the computer’s capabilities, Power Manager provides battery and thermal controls. Dell describes these functions in its User’s Guide introduction.
- Battery information and settings: View battery health and configure available battery settings. What appears depends on system capabilities.
- Advanced Charge: Configure charging behavior intended to help prolong battery life.
- Peak Shift: Schedule periods when the computer switches to battery power even while connected to external power.
- Thermal Management: Adjust processor and cooling behavior to balance performance, surface temperature, and fan noise.
- Battery Extender: Reduce power use through settings such as processor power, screen brightness, keyboard illumination, and audio.
These are Dell-described features, not a promise of a particular battery-life improvement. Controls vary by computer, and Dell’s reviewed guidance does not provide a measured battery-life gain.

Check compatibility and avoid relying on archived packages
Dell’s support article describes Power Manager support for Inspiron, Vostro, and XPS laptops running Windows 10 or Windows 11, and names Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 as a requirement. The same guidance points users in those families toward MyDell. Because legacy support and successor-app recommendations overlap, use the exact computer’s current listing to establish what is available for your system and Windows version.
Dell’s archive contains historical Power Manager Service packages, including version 3.7.0, released September 28, 2020, and version 3.2.0, released February 19, 2019.
