The Panasonic LUMIX ZS99 is the best fit if you want a pocketable travel zoom with a 30x range, while the ZS200D is the stronger specification-based choice if a 1-inch sensor matters more than maximum reach. For a bright, short-range lens, consider the LX100 II; for a built-in viewfinder with 30x reach, the ZS80D; and for the longest zoom, the much larger FZ80D bridge camera.
These are recommendations based on Panasonic’s published specifications, not comparative hands-on tests. Check current prices, stock, region, and whether a listing is new or used before buying.

How to choose among these Lumix models
Choose the ZS99 for a pocket travel zoom
The ZS99 combines a 1/2.3-inch MOS sensor with about 20.3 effective megapixels and a 30x optical zoom spanning 24–720mm equivalent. That range is useful when you want to frame wide scenes and bring distant subjects closer without changing lenses. Panasonic Canada also lists 4K video and photo, a tilting monitor, USB-C charging, and a 322g weight with battery and SD card. Its small sensor is a specification tradeoff to understand, not proof by itself of how a photo will look in every condition. Choose the ZS80D if an electronic viewfinder is important
The ZS80D offers the same stated 30x, 24–720mm-equivalent reach as the ZS99, along with an electronic viewfinder. Panasonic lists a 1/2.3-inch sensor and an approximate weight of 328g with battery and card. Choose the ZS200D for a larger sensor and still-useful travel reach
The ZS200D has a 1-inch sensor and 20.1 effective megapixels, with 15x optical zoom covering approximately 24–360mm equivalent in 3:2 aspect ratio. That is less reach than the 30x models, but it still spans wide-angle through substantial telephoto framing. Panasonic lists its weight at approximately 340g with battery and card. Choose the LX100 II for a bright lens over long zoom reach
The LX100 II pairs a Four Thirds sensor with a 24–75mm-equivalent 3.1x zoom. Its maximum aperture is F1.7 at the wide end and F2.8 at telephoto, a brighter-lens specification than the other listed ranges establish. Panasonic describes the FZ80D as a bridge camera, not a pocket compact. Its 60x optical zoom spans 20–1200mm equivalent, and its listed weight is 640g with battery and card. What the specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Sensor format, zoom range, and maximum aperture describe different parts of a camera. A longer zoom gives more framing flexibility, a larger sensor is a relevant hardware distinction, and a wider maximum aperture describes how open the lens can be at a given end of its range. None is an interchangeable score for image quality. Results also depend on lighting, subject movement, focus, camera settings, and how the image will be viewed. Panasonic’s product and specification pages establish listed features and dimensions; they do not establish a comparative image-quality winner or hands-on performance ranking.
