Moogle Treasure Trove and seasonal events reward different kinds of planning. Moogle Treasure Trove (MTT) lets you earn event-specific irregular tomestones from designated activities and exchange them for a rotating lineup of items. Seasonal events use the quest and reward rules in their individual announcements. For either one, check the specific event notice: the deadline to earn a reward may differ from the deadline to claim or exchange it.
As of October 13, 2026, the active MTT is First Hunt for Astronomy, scheduled to end October 19 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. Its Mogpendium claim cutoff and its tomestone exchange cutoff are later, separate milestones. The next seasonal-event headline listed by the Lodestone was All Saints’ Wake, beginning October 15, but its detailed page was unavailable during maintenance, so its end date and rewards were not confirmed.

The key question is not which format is always better. It is whether the reward you want is in the current lineup, what the event asks you to do, and how much time remains before the relevant earning, claim, or exchange deadline.

How the two event formats differ
MTT is a limited-time event series with no fixed schedule. Each installment has its own dates, tomestones and reward lineup; some installments also add challenge objectives that award a second kind of token. Seasonal events are announced individually, and their quests, activities, rewards and replay rules depend on the particular event.
#1 Best Overall
- Adventure awaits you beyond the horizon in FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- This product is a digital 60-Day Game Time Card for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. It serves as a payment option that allows players to add 60 days of game time to their FFXIV account at the Standard subscription rate, subject to account limits. Both the game and game time are required to play.
- This product can be redeemed on service accounts registered with the Windows, Mac, PlayStation, or Steam versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. However, it cannot be redeemed on service accounts that have only the XBOX or Nintendo Switch 2 versions registered.
That makes the useful comparison less about which format is universally better and more about what you want, how you can earn it, and which deadline applies. MTT may suit you if its current exchange lineup contains an item you want and you can complete eligible activities. A seasonal event may be the priority if you want its particular quest or event rewards before its announced closing time.
There is no universal annual calendar to rely on for MTT: Square Enix describes it as a special event with no set schedule. Seasonal-event timing is also announced event by event. A familiar name or a previous year’s dates can help you recognize an event, but neither establishes when the next one ends or which rewards it will include. Use the current Lodestone notice for the details that matter to your plan.
| What to compare | Moogle Treasure Trove | Seasonal event |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule | No set schedule; each installment has its own announced period. | Dates are announced for each event; check that event’s notice. |
| How rewards are earned | Earn irregular tomestones from designated duties and other listed activities. Some installments also have weekly or one-time challenges that award tokens. | Complete the announced event quest or activities. Exact requirements vary. |
| How rewards are obtained | Exchange tomestones with itinerant moogles; some special rewards may also require challenge tokens. | Follow the event-specific quest and reward instructions. |
| Deadline to check | Event end, Mogpendium claim cutoff, and exchange cutoff can be different dates or milestones. | Use the closing time in the event’s notice; replay rules, if any, are event-specific. |
For MTT, separate the act of earning currency from completing an objective whose reward needs a manual claim, and from spending the currency. For a seasonal event, the relevant notice tells you what the quest or activity requires and when it closes. Those differences affect your schedule more than the event labels do.
Current Moogle Treasure Trove dates and separate cutoffs
Square Enix lists First Hunt for Astronomy as running from September 9, 2026 at 1:00 a.m. through October 19, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. These are the North American notice’s times; keep the PDT time zone attached when planning around the deadline.
The October 19 end time is not the only date to watch. The official event information gives distinct later cutoffs for claiming some rewards and exchanging tomestones:
- Earning period: The listed First Hunt for Astronomy event ends October 19, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PDT.
- Claiming weekly and challenge rewards: The Mogpendium claim period ends with Patch 8.05.
- Exchanging tomestones: Itinerant-moogle exchanges are listed through Patch 8.1.
Patch-based cutoffs are not the same as the event’s stated end time. If you finish a weekly or challenge objective, claim its reward in the Mogpendium before the claim cutoff; do not assume that having completed the objective automatically puts every reward in your inventory. Likewise, make an exchange before the exchange period closes. The event page warns that dates and times may change and that an event can be suspended without warning, so check the current official notice rather than relying on an old schedule.
Think of these as three separate checks:
- Can I still earn it? The event period tells you when eligible earning objectives are active. For First Hunt for Astronomy, the listed end is October 19 at 7:59 a.m. PDT.
- Have I claimed it? Weekly and challenge objectives have a Mogpendium claim step. Their claim period ends with Patch 8.05, so completing one is not the same as claiming its reward.
- Can I still spend it? The event information lists itinerant-moogle exchange through Patch 8.1. Use the exchange cutoff to plan purchases, rather than assuming that currency can be spent indefinitely.
The notice provides patch milestones for the latter two cutoffs, not a separate clock time in the event dates above. Check the current official information for the applicable patch timing and any changes. If you are playing close to a deadline, completing the duty, claiming the objective reward, and visiting the itinerant moogle are different actions; leave time for all the steps you still need.

How Moogle Treasure Trove earning works
Speak to an itinerant moogle to obtain the Mogpendium, which displays the objectives for the current installment. Completing eligible, event-marked duties earns irregular tomestones. The current event information also identifies GATEs and ocean fishing routes as ways to earn them. Ocean fishing requires at least 2,000 points for a tomestone reward.
Not every way of entering a duty qualifies. Duty Support and adventurer squadrons do not award the event tomestones. If you enter an eligible duty with an unrestricted party, apply Level Sync. Check the event-marked objective and its conditions in the Mogpendium before committing to a run.
A practical first step is to inspect the Mogpendium before choosing an activity. Confirm that the duty is marked for the event, note any stated conditions, and check whether it is a repeatable Standard Objective or a time-limited weekly or challenge objective. This avoids assuming that every run of a familiar duty pays out, or that a duty entered through every party option counts. The earning rules are event-specific, so verify the current objective list instead of carrying over assumptions from an earlier MTT.
Ocean fishing is an alternative listed route, but the score condition matters: you need at least 2,000 points for a tomestone reward. That threshold is a requirement, not a guarantee that every route or attempt will meet it. No fixed amount of time or number of runs can be inferred from that score requirement alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFour kinds of Mogpendium objectives
- Standard Objectives: Repeatable objectives. Their rewards are added to your inventory automatically.
- Weekly Objectives: Objectives that reset weekly. The reward must be claimed from the Mogpendium.
- Minimog Challenges: Weekly challenges; their rewards also require a Mogpendium claim.
- Ultimog Challenges: One-time-per-event challenges. Claim the reward through the Mogpendium after completion.
For First Hunt for Astronomy, completing one of the two weekly Minimog objectives awards one Uolon Horn Token. Completing the event’s Ultimog Challenge awards five. These token amounts belong to this installment; check the current Mogpendium for the objectives and rewards in a later event.
Remember the difference between the automatic and manual rewards. Standard Objective rewards go straight into your inventory. Weekly and challenge rewards need a claim in the Mogpendium. If you have completed an objective but do not see the expected item or token, check whether it was one of the objective types that needs claiming before concluding that the activity did not count.
What the First Hunt for Astronomy rewards require
The featured Uolon Horn mount costs 100 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I plus 10 Uolon Horn Tokens. Because the mount uses two currencies, reaching 100 tomestones alone does not meet its listed cost. The weekly Minimog and one-time Ultimog objectives are relevant to accumulating the required tokens.

- A new adventure awaits in Norvrandt
- New jobs, including gun breaker and dancer
- New playable races: Viera and Hrothgar
- Level cap increase from 70 to 80
- New cities to explore: The Crystarium and Eulmore
Square Enix says the Uolon Horn and its tokens will also appear in the later Second Hunt for Astronomy, and tokens from First Hunt may still be redeemed during Second Hunt. That gives this particular featured reward a carryover path beyond the first installment’s exchange window. It does not mean every First Hunt item will carry over: the two installments have different item lineups and exchange tomestones.

This changes the planning question for the mount, but only for the mount and tokens Square Enix specifically says will return. If you are short on Astronomy I tomestones or tokens, the Second Hunt offers another stated opportunity for this reward. It is not a reason to ignore the current claim cutoff: claim any weekly or challenge tokens you earned before the Patch 8.05 cutoff, and check the Second Hunt announcement for its dates and rules when it is published.
A practical plan for a two-currency reward
- Check the Mogpendium: Identify the eligible tomestone activities, the weekly Minimog objectives, and the Ultimog Challenge.
- Track both balances: Count Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I and Uolon Horn Tokens separately against the mount’s 100-and-10 cost.
- Claim challenge rewards: Claim weekly and challenge rewards in the Mogpendium before the Patch 8.05 cutoff.
- Choose when to exchange: The mount and tokens are stated to return in Second Hunt, but other items may not. Exchange other desired items before the applicable period ends, and check the Second Hunt notice for its actual dates and lineup.
When deciding whether to spend now or wait, compare the item you want with the stated carryover. The Uolon Horn is named as returning; the two installments are also explicitly described as having different item lineups and exchange tomestones. Do not assume that an unrelated item, or your current Astronomy I tomestones, will have the same treatment. Check each installment’s notice and use the currency and deadline it specifies.
What seasonal events offer—and what varies
A seasonal event’s Lodestone notice is the source for its quest steps, activities, reward list and dates. Unlike MTT’s tomestone-and-exchange structure, the event-specific notice explains what to do for that event’s rewards. Do not assume that a seasonal event uses a particular earning currency, offers a particular reward category, or returns on the same dates each year unless its notice says so.
A recent example is the FFXV collaboration event A Nocturne for Heroes, which ran from September 24, 2026 at 1:00 a.m. through October 13, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. Its announced rewards included the Regalia Type-G four-seater mount, the Lucian Prince costume set, Modern Aesthetics – Lucian Locks, orchestrion rolls and more. Players who had already completed the event quests could replay them using the seasonal event replay feature. That replay option was confirmed for this event; it is not a general guarantee for all seasonal events.
The example shows why “seasonal rewards” is too broad a category for planning. A Nocturne for Heroes had several distinct reward types, but the announcement’s named items do not establish what another event will give. Nor does its replay feature establish that every event can be replayed after closing. If you missed a quest or want a particular item, look for explicit replay wording in that event’s own announcement rather than assuming its status from another collaboration.
The FFXV event’s period ended October 13 at 7:59 a.m. PDT, while the First Hunt for Astronomy is listed through October 19 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. Those dates illustrate how two limited-time activities can overlap while retaining different quests, rewards, and earning mechanics. The FFXV dates are specific to that event; they are not a template for future collaborations or seasonal events.

What is known about the next listed seasonal event
On October 13, 2026, the Lodestone news listing said “All Saints’ Wake Begins October 15.” The linked event details page showed a maintenance-unavailable notice, so its end date and reward list could not be confirmed from the available announcement. Check the full official notice once it is available before planning around a closing date or a specific reward.
That headline confirms a start date, not a complete schedule or reward list. Until the detailed notice is accessible, there is no reliable basis here for giving an end time, naming rewards, or describing the quest requirements. Treat the event’s own published details as the point to verify those facts.

Which event should you prioritize before it expires?
Use the deadline that applies to the reward you want, not just the event headline. MTT has multiple stages: earning, claiming certain objective rewards, and exchanging tomestones. A seasonal event instead follows the deadline and instructions in its own notice. The choice depends on the item, the work required, and whether there is a confirmed later way to obtain it.
- Prioritize MTT if you want an item in its current exchange lineup and still need time to earn the required tomestones or challenge tokens. Leave time to claim Mogpendium rewards and complete the exchange before the relevant cutoffs.
- Prioritize a seasonal event if you want a reward from its event-specific quest or activity and the event is approaching its announced end. Only count on a later replay route when the notice confirms one for that event.
- Do both in a planned order if both are active: first identify any reward with an imminent or non-repeating cutoff, then fit repeatable MTT activities around the time you have available.
- Verify the notice again if you are close to a cutoff. MTT dates can change or the event can be suspended without warning, and seasonal-event dates and rewards are event-specific.
For First Hunt for Astronomy, the Uolon Horn’s stated appearance in Second Hunt provides a later route for that mount and its tokens. Do not extend that exception to the rest of the lineup: Square Enix says the installments will have different item lineups and exchange tomestones.
A quick decision checklist
- Name the exact reward. Is it in the current MTT lineup, or is it named in the seasonal event’s notice? If the reward list is not confirmed, do not plan as though a particular item is included.
- Identify the action required. MTT may require eligible duties, a score threshold, and a Mogpendium claim. A seasonal event may require its own quest or activities; follow the instructions in its announcement.
- Write down the relevant cutoff. For MTT, distinguish the event end from the claim and exchange milestones. For a seasonal event, use its published closing time and check whether its notice confirms any later replay.
- Check for a specifically announced return. The Uolon Horn and its tokens have a stated Second Hunt path. The FFXV event’s replay option was specific to previously completed quests in that event. Neither example creates a general return promise.
This approach also helps when the events overlap. You do not need to decide which format is categorically more valuable; compare the reward you care about, the steps still outstanding, and the earliest deadline that affects that reward. If the answer depends on a detail not in the current notice, verify it rather than filling the gap with last year’s schedule.
Bottom line
MTT is a currency-earning and exchange event with objective-specific rules; seasonal events are individually defined quests or activities with their own reward and replay terms. For the 2026 First Hunt for Astronomy, note the October 19, 7:59 a.m. PDT event end, the Patch 8.05 claim cutoff, and the Patch 8.1 exchange cutoff as separate milestones. For a seasonal event, use its current notice—and avoid assuming a reward or replay option will return unless that notice confirms it.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does Moogle Treasure Trove: First Hunt for Astronomy end?
Square Enix lists the event as ending October 19, 2026, at 7:59 a.m. PDT. The notice warns that dates and times may change and that the event can be suspended without warning, so check the current Lodestone page near the deadline.

- Astrologian: Healer - Tap the power of the stars to cast potent healing magicks, while drawing energies from constellation-based divining cards to support your party

- Included in this expansion pack is a new race called The Au Ra, a new City-State - Ishgard, new Primals Bismarck and Ravana, and Flying Mounts
Can I claim or exchange MTT rewards after the event ends?
The listed cutoffs are separate: Mogpendium claims for weekly and challenge rewards end with Patch 8.05, while itinerant-moogle exchanges are listed through Patch 8.1. Do not treat the October 19 event end as the claim or exchange deadline, and check the current notice for updates.
Do all Mogpendium rewards need to be claimed manually?
No. Standard Objective rewards are added to your inventory automatically. Weekly Objective, Minimog Challenge, and Ultimog Challenge rewards must be claimed through the Mogpendium.
What does the Uolon Horn mount cost?
For First Hunt for Astronomy, the listed cost is 100 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I plus 10 Uolon Horn Tokens. Square Enix says the mount and tokens will also appear in Second Hunt, and First Hunt tokens may still be redeemed during that installment.
Can I earn MTT tomestones in any version of a duty?
No. Duty Support and adventurer squadrons do not award event tomestones. The event information also says to apply Level Sync when entering an eligible duty with an unrestricted party. Check the Mogpendium’s event-marked objectives and conditions before starting.
Can I get seasonal event rewards later?
It depends on the event. A Nocturne for Heroes allowed players to replay previously completed event quests through the seasonal event replay feature, but that does not establish a replay option for every seasonal event. Check the specific Lodestone notice for its replay terms.
Which event should I do first if MTT and a seasonal event overlap?
Prioritize the reward with the nearest relevant cutoff or no confirmed later route. For MTT, check whether you still need to earn currency, claim a Mogpendium reward, or exchange tomestones. For the seasonal event, follow its own end time and do not assume replay unless the notice confirms it.
The Bottom Line
Check the reward you want, the action needed to earn or claim it, and the deadline that actually applies. MTT’s event end, Mogpendium claim cutoff, and exchange cutoff are separate; seasonal-event dates, rewards, and replay rules vary by announcement.
