For chronological story flow, read Ever Crisis in this order: The First SOLDIER/young Sephiroth material, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, the original Final Fantasy VII storyline, then the later Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus material. That order follows the known cause-and-effect chain, not the order in which entries appear in the chapter menu.
There is an important practical qualification: the global and Japanese mobile services were announced to end on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. PDT. Ever Crisis is therefore best understood as a chapter-based anthology whose accessible content may now depend on an archive, an offline release, or another successor service.
The chronological order at a glance
| Order | Ever Crisis story area | Timeline position | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The First SOLDIER / young Sephiroth | Earliest major Ever Crisis-era material | Explores Sephiroth before the main FFVII events. Official material does not establish an exact year for every episode. |
| 2 | Before Crisis –FINAL FANTASY VII– | Before the original FFVII campaign | A Turks-centered prequel. Producer Shoichi Ichikawa said the previously missing story was planned for release in three parts during July and August 2026. |
| 3 | Crisis Core –FINAL FANTASY VII– | Seven years before FFVII | Follows Zack Fair and shows actions that trigger the events leading into FFVII. |
| 4 | FINAL FANTASY VII (original-game storyline) | Main campaign | Ever Crisis presents a condensed chapter adaptation of the original game’s key events. |
| 5 | Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus material | After the original FFVII story | These are later Compilation-era stories. Place each after the original campaign when the relevant Ever Crisis chapters are accessible. |
This is a narrative order, not a promise that every chapter was permanently available, unlocked in that sequence, or still playable after the service shutdown.

Why the chapter menu is not a timeline
Ever Crisis is a mobile RPG built around selectable story arcs. Square Enix describes it as covering key parts of the FFVII timeline, including the original game, while adding new material about a young Sephiroth written by Kazushige Nojima. The franchise hub presents it as a reimagining of the FFVII timeline rather than a single linear campaign.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That design means the interface can let you jump between entries. A menu position, a release date, or a newly added chapter is not evidence that the story occurs at that point in the fictional chronology. Seasonal events and crossover episodes can also sit outside the main sequence. Use the arc names to identify what you are opening, then use the order above to decide when it makes sense to read it.
How each arc fits
1. The First SOLDIER and young Sephiroth material
Start here if you want the earliest major storyline represented inside Ever Crisis. These chapters examine Sephiroth before the familiar FFVII crisis and therefore work as background for the person he becomes.
The available official statements do not give a reliable year count for every episode in this arc. Do not force it into a dated position such as “exactly X years before FFVII.” Its safe placement is qualitative: it is earlier than the main FFVII events and functions as the opening point for Ever Crisis’s newly written history.
2. Before Crisis –FINAL FANTASY VII–
Before Crisis is the Turks-focused prequel. Its incidents occur before the original FFVII campaign and add Shinra, Avalanche, and Turks context that the main game treats as established history.

- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Ever Crisis was intended to make this previously unavailable story part of the modern chapter structure. In a July 8, 2026 producer letter, Shoichi Ichikawa said the team had not yet told the Before Crisis story and planned to release it in three parts during July and August 2026. That rollout date describes the planned Ever Crisis content, not a guarantee that all three parts remain accessible after the mobile service ended.
3. Crisis Core –FINAL FANTASY VII–
Crisis Core has the firmest dated placement in the official material. Square Enix states that its story begins seven years before the events of FINAL FANTASY VII. It follows Zack Fair, a young Shinra SOLDIER operative, and shows how his actions trigger the events that lead into the original game.
That direct lead-in is why Crisis Core belongs immediately before the original FFVII storyline in a chronology-first reading. It is also the most straightforward standalone prequel for readers who want a playable bridge into FFVII rather than an anthology menu.

Ever Crisis includes the key events of the original game in a condensed, chapter-based form. Treat this as the central point of the timeline: the earlier arcs explain the conditions and characters that feed into it, while the later Compilation material assumes that its major events have happened.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Because the adaptation is condensed, its chapter boundaries should not be mistaken for a complete replacement for every scene, optional sequence, or exploration segment in the original release. If you need the full original narrative, use a complete version of the original game; use Ever Crisis’s chapters as its streamlined retelling within the anthology.
5. Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus
These entries belong after the original FFVII story. They are later Compilation-era continuations, so opening them first can reveal consequences of the main campaign before you have seen their causes.
Ever Crisis’s availability model matters here. A later-era chapter may have been added for a limited period or may no longer be selectable after service closure. Do not infer that every Compilation story was permanently present simply because the franchise is represented in the game’s overall scope.

If you are new to the entire FFVII setting
The chronology-first route is coherent, but it is not the only good introduction. Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is a named, playable prequel with an explicit seven-year placement and a direct connection to FFVII. You can use it as your first substantial stop, then continue to the original FFVII story and return to the earlier Ever Crisis arcs for additional context.
That alternative avoids making a mobile chapter hub your sole introduction, which is useful now that the live service has ended. It also means you should expect the prequel to establish mysteries and character information that the original game was designed to reveal in its own order.
If you are trying to avoid spoilers
Read the original FFVII storyline before opening later Compilation chapters. The young-Sephiroth and Before Crisis material is earlier in-universe, but it can still provide background that changes how you interpret the original game. For maximum preservation of the original game’s reveals, play FFVII first, then Crisis Core, then the remaining prequel and sequel chapters as supplemental stories.
Chronological order versus menu order
| Decision factor | Chronology-first approach | In-menu approach |
|---|---|---|
| Chronological clarity | Follows prequel, main-game, and sequel relationships. | May jump between eras because selectable entries are not guaranteed to be chronological. |
| Spoiler control | Can preserve a prequel-to-sequel progression, but early arcs may still reveal background intended to be discovered later. | Depends on which entry you choose and can expose later consequences early. |
| Availability | Requires access to each arc or a separate version of the relevant game. | Shows only what the service or archive currently exposes; a menu listing is not proof of permanent access. |
| Completeness | Covers the main arcs in a deliberate order. | Can include seasonal or crossover content that does not belong to the core timeline. |
How to handle seasonal and crossover chapters
Keep seasonal and crossover episodes separate from the five-part chronology unless an episode is explicitly labeled as part of one of the main arcs. Their appearance in the same interface does not make them canonical links between the major Compilation stories.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Finish one clearly labeled main arc before switching to another if you want an uninterrupted narrative.
- Record the arc name and chapter title when an entry is ambiguous; the display order alone is not enough.
- Return to optional events after the original FFVII storyline if you are prioritizing spoiler control.
- Do not insert an event between Crisis Core and FFVII merely because it was released there in the mobile schedule.
Ever Crisis availability after October 6, 2026
Ever Crisis launched globally on September 7, 2023. On July 8, 2026, producer Shoichi Ichikawa announced that Square Enix would end service for both the Japanese and global versions on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 p.m. PDT. The same announcement described a planned final FFVII saga chapter for September 6, 2026 PDT and the three-part Before Crisis rollout.
Because the current date is after that announced shutdown, readers should treat the live mobile service as ended. Whether a particular chapter can still be viewed through an archive, an offline build, or a successor product is a separate availability question and must be verified for the platform and region involved. Do not assume that a previously selectable event, a final chapter, or a seasonal episode remains downloadable.
Does Ever Crisis cover the whole Compilation?
No. It is an anthology-like hub that spans key portions of the FFVII timeline and adds new young-Sephiroth material; it is not a guarantee that every Compilation scene, spin-off, side episode, or limited event is represented in full. The original FFVII, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, and later Compilation stories appear as different story areas, often in condensed chapter form.

Quick Recap
A practical checklist
- Identify the arc label before starting a chapter.
- For chronology, use: young Sephiroth, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, original FFVII, then later Compilation material.
- Remember that Crisis Core is specifically seven years before FFVII.
- Keep seasonal and crossover events outside the main sequence unless their labeling clearly places them in an arc.
- Choose spoiler-first or chronology-first ordering deliberately; they are not identical goals.
- Confirm whether the chapter is actually accessible after the October 6, 2026 service end date.
