Fidelity Investments announced on October 15, 2026, that it plans to liquidate five exchange-traded funds (ETFs): Fidelity Disruptive Finance ETF (FDFF), Fidelity Disruptive Medicine ETF (FMED), Fidelity Disruptors ETF (FDIF), Fidelity Metaverse ETF (FMET), and Fidelity Real Estate Investment ETF (FPRO). The expected final full trading day is November 12, 2026, followed by an expected liquidation on or about November 19. Investors who still hold shares after trading ends may face a period in which the shares cannot be sold on an exchange.
Which Fidelity ETFs are being liquidated?
The planned closure affects five funds. Four are listed on Nasdaq; FPRO is listed on Cboe. Fidelity has not provided fund-specific performance, fee, asset-size, or demand figures in the announcement, so those details cannot be used to estimate liquidation proceeds.
| ETF | Ticker | Investment theme | Listing exchange | Expected last full trading day | Expected liquidation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fidelity Disruptive Finance ETF | FDFF | Disruptive finance | Nasdaq | November 12, 2026 | On or about November 19, 2026 |
| Fidelity Disruptive Medicine ETF | FMED | Disruptive medicine | Nasdaq | November 12, 2026 | On or about November 19, 2026 |
| Fidelity Disruptors ETF | FDIF | Disruptors | Nasdaq | November 12, 2026 | On or about November 19, 2026 |
| Fidelity Metaverse ETF | FMET | Metaverse | Nasdaq | November 12, 2026 | On or about November 19, 2026 |
| Fidelity Real Estate Investment ETF | FPRO | Real estate investment | Cboe | November 12, 2026 | On or about November 19, 2026 |
Fidelity described both dates as expectations, so investors should verify the final corporate-action schedule with Fidelity and their brokerage before placing orders.

Before the November 12 close
Shareholders are expected to be able to sell shares during normal market trading through the close on November 12. FDFF, FMED, FDIF, and FMET are expected to trade on Nasdaq through that date, while FPRO is expected to trade on Cboe. The announcement identifies November 12 as the last full trading day, not a guaranteed date for every order type or brokerage processing deadline.

After the November 12 close
After the applicable exchange closes on November 12, the funds are expected to stop trading and stop accepting creation orders. Fidelity warns that shareholders will then be unable to dispose of shares on the exchange and that there may be no trading market before liquidation. An investor who waits until after the close therefore may not have an exchange-based exit.
What happens between trading cessation and liquidation?
Fidelity expects each portfolio to be positioned in cash, cash equivalents, or other liquid assets on or before the liquidation date. The planned liquidation is on or about November 19, 2026. During this interval, the ETF shares can remain in a brokerage account even though they are no longer available for ordinary exchange trading.

The announcement does not specify the exact per-share distribution, the operational timing of account credits, or how every brokerage will display the corporate action. It also does not establish an investor’s tax result. Shareholders should review the fund notice and brokerage communications for the distribution process, record dates, settlement instructions, and tax documents applicable to their account.
Why is Fidelity closing these funds?
Fidelity said it regularly reviews its lineup “to ensure we deliver a differentiated suite of strategies that drives demand and helps meet the evolving needs of customers.” The release does not give a separate explanation for FDFF, FMED, FDIF, FMET, or FPRO, such as a specific asset threshold, performance result, or expense comparison. It is therefore not possible to determine from the announcement whether one particular fund was selected for a distinct reason.

What investors should do before the deadline
- Identify your holding. Check your account for FDFF, FMED, FDIF, FMET, or FPRO and confirm the number of shares and the account type.
- Check the exchange schedule. The four Nasdaq funds and the Cboe-listed FPRO are each expected to have November 12 as their final full trading day.
- Decide whether to sell while trading remains available. If you want an exchange-based sale, submit any order early enough for your brokerage’s order, settlement, and market-hours rules. A market order can fill at a price different from the last quoted price; a limit order may not execute.
- Read the corporate-action notice. Look for instructions from Fidelity and your broker about the liquidation, account-credit timing, and any forms you may receive.
- Keep records. Retain trade confirmations, cost-basis information, and the final liquidation statement for your own records and for tax reporting. The announcement does not predict whether a particular holder will have a gain or loss.
What is not yet known
- The final liquidation proceeds per share.
- The exact time on November 19 when the distribution will be processed.
- Whether any date will change before the corporate action is completed.
- Fund-specific fees, performance data, assets, or a stated minimum-demand test.
- Individual tax consequences, which depend on the account, cost basis, holding period, and applicable law.
Fidelity’s scale and the investment risk reminder
Fidelity said that, as of September 30, 2026, it offered more than 80 ETFs and exchange-traded products (ETPs) with $189 billion in assets under management. The closure of these five funds therefore concerns a portion of a much larger lineup, not the end of Fidelity’s ETF or ETP business.
Fidelity also reminds investors that investing involves risk: “The value of your investment will fluctuate over time, and you may gain or lose money.” The planned liquidation does not remove normal market risk before the final trading day, and the absence of an exchange market after November 12 can add an operational constraint for holders who have not sold.
