FeroFlyF405 is a custom flight-controller board built around an STM32F405 and configured to run INAV with a target written for the board. A project report describes its sensors, connections and power design, but also records unresolved sensor drift and test flights that leaned rather than flying cleanly. The reported V1.1 revision addresses one motor-output DMA limitation; it does not establish that the other issues were fixed.
What FeroFlyF405 is
FeroFlyF405 is a maker-designed flight controller, not a product established as available for retail sale. Circuit Digest’s October 6, 2026 report identifies Farhan as its designer and describes the board as a from-scratch design centered on an STM32F405. To run INAV, the creator wrote a custom target for the board. The report says hardware files were shared on GitHub and the build was documented in a video; those project materials were not independently inspected for this account.
Reported hardware and interfaces
The report lists the following features and design details. They are reported specifications, not independently verified measurements.
Recommended Free Tools
| Area | Reported design |
|---|---|
| Processor | STM32F405 |
| Motion sensor | LSM6DSL IMU |
| Barometer | DPS368 |
| Motor outputs | 12 outputs |
| Connections | CAN bus, I2C and three UARTs |
| PCB | Four layers; 50 × 65 mm |
| Power design | Designed for 3S LiPo input, with a buck converter providing 5 V and a regulator providing 3.3 V |
The prototype was reportedly assembled by hand. Its CAN circuitry was left unpopulated because parts were out of stock, so the listed CAN interface should not be taken to mean it was present and working on that build. The report also notes two practical omissions: there was no dedicated SBUS input and no onboard XT30 power connector.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How INAV was brought up
Barometer address mismatch
During setup, INAV reportedly looked for the barometer at I2C address 0x76, while the DPS368 used 0x77 by default. The report says a macro added to the custom INAV target resolved the mismatch. This is a board-specific configuration detail, not a general instruction to change the address on other flight controllers.
IMU drift and calibration
The report describes pitch and roll readings that began near zero and jumped after about ten seconds to roughly 3.7 and 15.6 degrees. Replacing the IMU did not change the observed behavior. Raising ahrs_dcm_kp from 2000 to 4000 reportedly reduced the drift to about 3 degrees, and a manual calibration from the transmitter was then performed. The creator was unsure of the cause; the report does not establish that this parameter adjustment or calibration permanently solved the problem.

Flight-test issues and the V1.1 revision
In reported test flights, the quad consistently leaned toward one corner. The creator attributed that behavior to motor 3 spinning more slowly: ESC3 would not calibrate, and the flight controller could not compensate enough for a clean flight.
The report identifies motor output 3’s timer channel as lacking DMA, which it says prevented INAV from using digital protocols such as DShot and OneShot on that output. It says V1.1 addressed the motor 3 DMA limitation. That correction is narrower than a demonstrated flight fix: the report does not establish that V1.1 resolved ESC3 calibration, the lean, or the IMU drift.

Open hardware files and license
Circuit Digest reports that the hardware uses the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license and that the hardware repository contains KiCad schematic and PCB files, Gerbers, a bill of materials and a STEP model. It says INAV target files and a binary are in a separate repository. Because the repository contents and license were not independently checked, confirm the current files and license terms at the project sources before building on or redistributing the design.

FeroFlyF405 demonstrates the work involved in taking a custom STM32F405 board through INAV target configuration and initial testing: sensor-address handling, IMU behavior, motor-output hardware constraints and ESC setup all mattered. The report is not evidence of a flight-ready controller, a cleanly flying prototype, or a broad performance comparison with commercial boards. It also does not establish the board’s current availability or the resolution of issues beyond the stated V1.1 DMA change.
