For U.S. deliveries, FedEx’s general “by end of day” message usually means before 8 p.m.—but it is not a fixed appointment or a guarantee for every shipment. The scheduled date, any estimated delivery window, and the commitment attached to the shipping service are separate pieces of information. For the best estimate for a particular package, check its current tracking details.
How late does FedEx deliver?
FedEx describes its typical delivery hours as 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and also Saturday and Sunday for residential deliveries, except expedited shipments. These are typical operating hours, not a promise that every package will arrive during that span. FedEx says “by end of day” generally means before 8 p.m., when it usually stops delivering. FedEx’s tracking and delivery guidance is for U.S. services; hours and terms can differ elsewhere.
What time does FedEx Home Delivery arrive?
FedEx Home Delivery does not have an official fixed delivery hour. FedEx explains: “There are no official delivery hours for FedEx Home Delivery, because each delivery time is dependent on the package and its destination.” Its service page says packages are typically delivered by 8 p.m. These statements are compatible: 8 p.m. is general guidance, not a guaranteed appointment for an individual address.
FedEx Home Delivery is offered every day of the week, but weekend coverage depends on the destination. FedEx says it reaches over 98% of the U.S. population on Saturdays and nearly two-thirds on Sundays. These are FedEx’s coverage figures, not confirmation that every address is served on those days. Check the shipment’s tracking information for its scheduled date. FedEx Home Delivery details

How to find the best estimate for your package
- Open FedEx tracking and enter the shipment’s tracking number. FedEx also says you can look up a delivery using a door tag, FedEx Office order number, reference number, or purchase-order number.
- Read the scheduled delivery date and, if shown, the estimated delivery window. FedEx says the window is four hours when available.
- If no window appears, treat that as unavailable for the package rather than using the typical-hours range to infer a more precise arrival time.
- If the shipment uses a time-definite service, check the commitment for that named service and destination. Tracking updates may also change the shipment-specific estimate.
FedEx’s FAQ about arrival times describes the ways to look up a shipment. Without its tracking details, there is no reliable way to determine an individual package’s arrival hour.
Transit time is not the same as arrival time
A transit estimate tells you how many business days shipping may take; it does not tell you what time the driver will reach an address on the delivery day.

| Service | Typical transit duration | What the timing tells you |
|---|---|---|
| FedEx Ground Economy | 2–7 business days | A transit range; it does not specify an arrival hour. |
| FedEx Home Delivery | 1–5 business days | A transit range; it does not specify an arrival hour. |
FedEx says transit times are determined by shipping distance. These ranges come from FedEx’s service pages, which do not state a publication year. See FedEx Ground Economy and FedEx Home Delivery.
When a delivery time is tied to the shipping service
Some services have delivery commitments that are more specific than typical operating hours. The commitment depends on the service selected and the shipment’s origin and destination. For example, FedEx 2Day is due by the end of the second business day, with morning or afternoon options and destination-specific terms. Overnight commitments also vary by service and destination. Check the service named for your shipment rather than assuming that the general 8 a.m.–8 p.m. delivery range defines its commitment.
