FC Coins are earned in Ultimate Team; FC Points are optional paid currency. Use Coins for eligible items you can earn or obtain through the Transfer Market. Consider Points only when a specific offer accepts them and you decide its real-money cost is worthwhile. The offer in the current game determines which currency works. Never buy Coins from third parties: EA prohibits it and says rule violations can lead to account action.

What Ultimate Team Coins are and how to earn them
Coins are Ultimate Team’s earnable currency. EA lists playing matches, collecting mode rewards and selling tradeable items on the Transfer Market at fair prices as ways to earn them. Quick-selling a tradeable item can also provide Coins. Rewards and available activities depend on the game and mode, so there is no single guaranteed earning rate.
Matches are the straightforward route: play the Ultimate Team modes available to you and claim the resulting rewards. Rivals, Squad Battles and Champions can also provide mode rewards when you meet their requirements. Rewards may include Coins, packs or items, and the exact amounts change with the game, season and competition.

As a dated illustration, EA’s FC 26 Season 1 rules article listed weekly reward ranges of 1,500–25,000 Coins for Rivals, 2,000–85,000 for Champions and 3,000–20,000 for Squad Battles. Those figures describe that season only; EA says reward ranges can change, so do not treat them as permanent rates or a guaranteed return for every player.
Transfer Market activity is another legitimate route. A tradeable item can be listed at a fair price and converted into Coins when another player buys it. “Fair” means a normal market transaction for the item, not a deliberately extreme price designed to move currency between accounts. Compare nearby listings, account for the current market, and remember that demand and prices can move quickly.
Quick-selling a tradeable item is simpler but usually gives you the game’s displayed quick-sell value rather than the potentially higher market value. Check both options before confirming. Untradeable items cannot be listed for Coins, so do not assume every card or reward can fund your balance.

Legitimate Coin use
Use Coins for ordinary in-game opportunities that list Coins as an accepted currency. The Transfer Market is the main route for acquiring tradeable items, while some store or reward offers may also accept Coins. Offers vary by game and can change, so check the price and currency shown on the particular item or feature rather than assuming every purchase takes Coins.
Coins are therefore useful when you want control over the exact item you buy. A market purchase lets you search for a player, consumable or other tradeable item instead of relying on the contents of a random pack. That does not make every purchase good value: compare the listing price with your balance, the player’s role in your squad and alternatives on the market.
What not to do with Coins
Buying Coins from an outside seller is not an approved shortcut. EA also prohibits distributing Coins, including transferring them to friends, using listings to move Coins instead of conducting a legitimate item sale, and buying or listing an item far above or below its average price to shift value. Offering Coins for an outside favor or funneling value through multiple accounts can also violate the rules. EA describes these examples in its FC rules and account-penalty guidance.

Keep market activity tied to a genuine item transaction at a fair price. A Coin seller, giveaway, or deliberately inflated listing does not become safe simply because it saves time; EA warns that violations can lead to account penalties. Do not share login details with a seller, use a second account as a transfer intermediary, or accept a “free” Coin offer that asks you to manipulate a listing. There is no legitimate way to buy Coins directly from EA.
What FC Points are and how to get them
FC Points are optional paid currency for offers that accept Points. They are not a requirement for playing Ultimate Team: EA states, “EAS FC Points are optional and not required to play Ultimate Team™.” The wording appears in EA’s Points purchasing guidance.

EA lists several purchase routes: the Ultimate Team store, official platform stores, the EA app, the Companion App in supported situations, and trusted retailers. Physical retailer cards may be redeemable. Which routes work depends on the platform, region and supported app availability; check EA’s current instructions for the game and account you use rather than assuming every option is available everywhere.
A retailer card is not automatically interchangeable with every edition. Confirm the title or version, platform, country or region, denomination and redemption instructions before paying. A marketplace listing that merely uses the words “FC Points” is not proof that the seller or card is authorized. EA’s guidance supports physical retailer cards as a category, but a particular listing still needs its own compatibility and authenticity checks.

Points are purchased in bundles whose denominations, prices, taxes, promotions and availability can vary by platform and region. There is no single permanent price to use as a universal comparison. Check the total shown by your platform or EA-approved seller, including any applicable local charges, and compare the bundle with the exact offer you intend to use.
Points can be spent only where the current store or feature accepts them. EA lists examples including Ultimate Team packs and stadium customization, Ultimate Draft entries, Evolution slots and Season Pass, as well as some Pro cosmetics in the Clubs Store. The list is not a promise that every item is available in every FC edition or that every offer accepts Points. Confirm the currency on the live in-game listing.
What Points do not do
Points are not a conversion method for obtaining Coins from another player. Buying Points does not make an external Coin purchase permissible, and Points cannot be assumed to unlock every market item. They are also not a guarantee of a particular player, pack result or competitive outcome. A Points-eligible pack still contains the contents and probabilities defined by the current game offer.
Which currency should you use?
Choose Coins for earnable items and market choices
If you want tradeable items or prefer to avoid optional real-money spending, focus on playing, collecting mode rewards and making fair-price sales of tradeable items. Coins let you use the market for eligible items, but the price and selection are set by the market and can vary. Consider whether an item is worth its current Coin cost rather than buying simply because you have accumulated a balance.

They also suit someone who knows exactly which tradeable item they want. The trade-off is time: earning a large balance can take repeated play, and market prices may rise or fall while you save. Use the in-game price and your squad needs as the decision points, not a promise of a fixed earning rate.
Consider Points only for a specific eligible offer
If a particular pack, Draft entry, Evolution slot, pass or cosmetic accepts Points, decide whether that offer is worth the real-money purchase to you. Points are not a general substitute for Coins: they do not authorize third-party Coin purchases, and an offer that accepts Coins may not accept Points, or vice versa.
Ask what you are actually buying before opening the purchase screen. For a Draft entry, consider the entry cost against your willingness to play the Draft. For an Evolution slot or customization, check that it applies to the player, club or stadium you intend to use. For packs, remember that the result is not the same as selecting an exact market item. If the feature has a Coin route, compare that route with the Points price and your preference for earning versus spending.

Check the offer before deciding
- Open the item or feature you actually want. Read its in-game listing rather than relying on an old guide or a different FC edition.
- Check the accepted currency. Look for the displayed Coins, Points or other available purchase option. Availability can differ by offer, mode and game.
- Compare the route with your preference. If Coins are accepted, decide whether earning them or using the market makes sense. If only Points are accepted, treat that as optional spending, not a requirement to play.
- For a Points purchase, verify the purchase channel. Use a route EA currently lists for your platform and region; confirm retailer-card compatibility before purchasing a card.
- Check the final confirmation screen. Verify the currency, bundle, quantity and total price before authorizing a purchase. Do not assume a nearby offer uses the same currency.
Premium Pass shows why the answer is offer-specific
Coins and Points do not divide neatly into “gameplay items” and “premium content.” EA’s Premium Pass guidance says Ultimate Team Coins can unlock the Premium Pass in Ultimate Team. The options shown can depend on mode, ownership and available tokens. Check EA’s Premium Pass instructions and the options displayed in your game; do not assume that every pass requires Points or that every pass can be bought with Coins.
This example is why a general rule such as “premium always means Points” is unreliable. Read the specific pass screen: it may show Coins, Points, tokens or a combination of requirements. Ownership of another pass or progression in a mode can affect what appears.
Spending controls and purchase tracking
EA Playtime includes a weekly limit for Points purchases. If you want a boundary on optional spending, consult EA’s current instructions for setting the limit in FC Playtime. Set a limit before buying if you share a device or want a firm weekly budget; a limit is a control, not a requirement to use Points.
EA says Points bought outside Ultimate Team—including through cards or direct first-party-store purchases—count after redemption and after you log out of Ultimate Team and log back in. Playtime also tracks packs opened using Points or Ultimate Team Coins. These tracking conditions matter if you use an external purchase route or want Playtime to reflect your activity. If a purchase or pack does not appear immediately, complete the required redemption and relogging steps before assuming it failed, then consult EA Help for account-specific support.
External purchase routes can also involve a delay between payment, redemption and visibility in the game. Keep a receipt from an official platform store or trusted retailer, and never send a code or account credentials to a Coin seller claiming to “activate” Points.

- Assuming Points are necessary to compete or play. EA says they are optional; check whether the desired offer has a Coin or other route.
- Assuming every offer takes the same currency. Accepted currency is offer-specific and may vary by edition, mode or current store listing.
- Buying Coins from a third party. EA prohibits Coin purchases and distribution; use gameplay rewards and fair market transactions instead.
- Using an extreme Transfer Market price to move value. A listing far above or below the normal market price can be treated as Coin distribution even when an item changes hands.
- Assuming a retailer card works for every platform or region. Check EA’s current redemption and compatibility instructions before buying.
- Expecting outside Points purchases to appear in Playtime immediately. EA says external purchases count after redemption and after logging out of Ultimate Team and back in.
- Confusing tradeable and untradeable rewards. Only eligible tradeable items can be listed; an untradeable card cannot be turned into a market sale.
- Treating a dated reward table as a permanent income promise. EA’s FC 26 Season 1 ranges are examples for that season, and reward ranges can change.
- Buying a card without checking the seller and region. Physical cards are a supported category, but a specific listing may be incompatible, invalid or unauthorized.
- Spending before identifying the exact feature. Open the live offer first so you know whether it takes Coins, Points, tokens or another currency.

Why are my external Points purchases missing from Playtime?
EA says Points bought outside Ultimate Team count after redemption and after you log out of Ultimate Team and log back in. Playtime also tracks packs opened with Points or Coins. Follow those steps, retain your receipt and contact EA Help if the account still does not update.
Can I set a limit on Points spending?
