For Ultimate Gauntlet 2, build your FC 27 Ultimate Team squad around the Chemistry threshold and card restrictions shown in the live objective panel. Keep cards in their preferred positions, then concentrate shared leagues, nations, and clubs so the squad reaches the requirement without sacrificing too many usable players. ICONs and Heroes can help connect otherwise separate groups, but FC 27 changed the link values they provide.
EA has confirmed that Ultimate Gauntlet returns in Week 2 of the Destined for Glory season and begins Season 1 with two Rounds. EA has not published the exact Ultimate Gauntlet 2 Chemistry threshold, eligible-card list, win target, entry rules, or reward bundle in the public material currently available. Those values should be taken from the in-game panel when the event is live, not guessed from an earlier Gauntlet or an older chemistry guide.
What is confirmed about Ultimate Gauntlet 2
EA’s FC 27 launch update says: “The Ultimate Gauntlet will also return during Week 2 of Destined for Glory, beginning with two Rounds in Season 1.” That establishes the event’s place in the season and the initial number of Rounds, but it does not define every requirement for the second Gauntlet entry.

Before submitting a squad, open the Ultimate Gauntlet 2 objective or event screen and record the rules displayed there. The panel is the controlling source for the live version of the event because requirements can be tied to a particular Round, season, or item pool.

If the panel changes between Rounds, treat each Round as a separate squad-building problem. A team that qualifies for one set of restrictions may fail the next one even if its Chemistry looks strong.
FC 27 Chemistry changes that affect your squad
FC 27 keeps the importance of preferred positions and relationship links, but it changes the documented contributions from several high-profile item types. The differences matter when you use one premium card to connect several leagues or nations.

The ICON nation contribution is therefore lower than the previous +2 value, while the ICON league contribution is also documented at +1. Heroes retain their +1 nation contribution but use +1 for League rather than the previous +2. Hall of FUT items use the Hero treatment. Do not transfer a chemistry plan from an older edition without checking these values.
How Chemistry should guide an Ultimate Gauntlet squad
Start with the event constraints
Do not begin by choosing your favorite eleven and trying to force the Chemistry afterward. First identify every hard requirement shown by the event:

- Minimum Chemistry, if one is listed.
- Allowed or prohibited leagues, nations, clubs, ratings, or item classes.
- Position restrictions or required player types.
- Number of players, substitutes, or reserves covered by the rule.
- Round-specific win, match, or entry conditions.
Write these down or keep the panel open while editing the squad. A card that gives excellent links is still unusable if it violates an item restriction or cannot be placed in an allowed position.
Lock preferred positions before chasing links
Place players in their preferred positions whenever the event allows it. EA explicitly preserves full Chemistry for ICONs and Heroes when they are used in position, so moving one of these cards simply to create a visual link can remove the advantage you selected it for. The same practical rule applies to ordinary cards: an out-of-position player can undermine an otherwise coherent build.
Use the squad preview to check whether a position change is actually accepted. If a card requires a position modifier or a different role, account for that before you spend coins or replace another player.
Build one strong relationship core
Shared league, nation, and club relationships are the basic ways to concentrate Chemistry. A squad with a clear core is easier to complete than one made from eleven unrelated cards. Choose one primary relationship first, then add a secondary relationship that fills positions without breaking the event restrictions.

- League core: useful when the event permits several players from the same competition and you want flexible nation coverage.
- Nation core: useful when the available cards from one country cover multiple positions and clubs.
- Club core: useful when a permitted club supplies several positions, but it can be restrictive if the club’s cards do not fit the Round’s item rules.
EA’s older chemistry explainer describes these relationships as the foundation of Chemistry. Because that explainer predates FC 27, use it for the relationship concept only; use the FC 27 interface and current item descriptions for the numerical behavior.
Use special cards as connectors, not automatic solutions
An in-position ICON, Hero, or Hall of FUT card can bridge groups that would otherwise be difficult to connect. Select one when its documented contribution solves a specific gap: for example, linking a league core to a nation-based pair or allowing a required position to stay occupied by a strong player.
Do not assume that adding several premium cards always increases the final result. Their current contributions are limited to the values shown in the FC 27 rules, and an out-of-position card may not receive the full benefit. Check the preview after every change.
Step-by-step method for building the team
- Open the Ultimate Gauntlet 2 panel. Read the Chemistry minimum, allowed cards, position language, Round objective, and reward conditions. If a value is absent, do not invent one; continue using only the requirements that are displayed.
- Choose the spine of the squad. Select a goalkeeper, central defenders, midfielders, and attackers that satisfy the card restrictions while sharing at least one strong relationship. Keep a note of which players are already in their preferred positions.
- Fill positions, not just links. Add players who cover the required roles naturally. A bench full of high-link cards does not help if the starting lineup contains gaps or illegal positions.
- Check the chemistry preview. Confirm the squad’s displayed Chemistry after the first complete lineup. Identify the exact players or positions responsible for any shortfall before replacing cards at random.
- Repair the weakest connection. Replace the player creating the largest gap with a card from the spine’s league, nation, or club. If the gap is caused by a special-card rule, test an in-position ICON, Hero, or Hall of FUT item whose contribution is allowed by the event.
- Review position changes. Make sure every modifier, alternate position, or role switch is accepted by the game and does not violate the event panel. Recheck Chemistry after each change.
- Run the restriction check. Confirm that every starter and any counted substitute meets the item, league, nation, club, rating, and position rules. A Chemistry-compliant lineup can still be rejected for a separate card restriction.
- Save a Round-specific version. If Season 1 presents different requirements for its two Rounds, preserve the first completed squad before adapting it. This avoids dismantling a valid team when the next Round uses another rule set.
Squad approaches and their trade-offs
There is no published Ultimate Gauntlet 2 threshold that makes one formation or card combination universally correct. Choose the approach that fits the live restrictions and the cards already available to you.

Compare each candidate team on five questions: does it meet the displayed threshold, how many players remain in preferred positions, how broad is its league and nation coverage after FC 27 contributions, can the players perform the Round’s match objectives, and are the cards affordable and available on your platform’s market?

The Chemistry number is below the requirement
Start with the most isolated player rather than changing the whole lineup. Replace that card with one sharing the main league, nation, or club relationship. If the isolated player occupies a required position, search for an alternative in the same relationship before using a position change.
An ICON or Hero is not helping as expected
Check its position first. The full Chemistry treatment documented by EA depends on being played in position. Then confirm the card type: ICON, Hero, and Hall of FUT use the FC 27 values in the table above, while other Special Items can have different, selectively boosted behavior.

Look for a second restriction. The event may require a particular item class, league, nation, rating range, or number of players in addition to Chemistry. Review every line in the objective panel and inspect substitutes or reserves if the rule counts them.

The team qualifies but performs poorly
Qualification is only the first filter. Replace a weak link with a player who still preserves the core relationship but better fits the Round’s match demands. Prioritize pace, defensive roles, stamina, and playstyle fit only after the Chemistry and card restrictions are secure.
Costs, availability, and timing
EA has not published a fixed card budget for Ultimate Gauntlet 2, and card prices vary by platform, region, supply, and the time of day. Build around cards you already own when possible, then price only the missing positions. Avoid buying several expensive connectors before confirming the exact Round requirements; a live restriction can make an otherwise useful card ineligible.
Availability also matters. A theoretically perfect nation or league core may be impractical if the required positions are scarce in your market. Keep two or three alternatives for each difficult position and recheck their Chemistry in the completed lineup rather than judging a card in isolation.

What EA has not established publicly
The available FC 27 launch and guide material does not provide a verified Ultimate Gauntlet 2 Chemistry number, match count, win target, entry cost, eligible-card list, or reward table. No published FC 27 statistic quantifies how much Chemistry changes win rates or match performance. Do not treat a community estimate, an earlier event’s rule, or an older edition’s chemistry number as an official Ultimate Gauntlet 2 requirement.
When EA adds a later event notice or updates the in-game panel, use that newer wording for the specific Round. Until then, the reliable plan is to understand the FC 27 item rules, build a relationship-focused squad in preferred positions, and verify the final lineup against the live objective screen.
