If you want the clearest mechanics-based starting point in Season 3, try Rick Strowd. SNK describes his boxing offense and Aggressor Style stance, which has overhead, low, and catch-counter follow-ups. For Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn, and Reina, the available official information confirms their inclusion but does not support a reliable ranking by strength, difficulty, or play style. Watch their official character trailers and choose by the moves and character presentation that appeal to you—not by an unsupported tier list.

This guide reflects announcements available through October 12, 2026. Release plans and storefront listings can change, so check your platform’s current listing before buying.

What the Season 3 DLC fighter comparison can—and cannot—tell you

There is no evidence-supported universal best Season 3 DLC fighter to recommend. The official material gives a specific mechanical description for Rick Strowd, but it does not offer an equivalent, side-by-side account of every fighter’s range, tools, execution demands, or competitive performance. That means a useful recommendation has to separate what is documented from what is still a matter of personal preference.

If your question is “which DLC fighter should I try first?”, Rick is the most informed starting point if you like boxing and stance-based offense. If you are drawn to another fighter’s appearance, story connection, or trailer, that is also a reasonable basis for trying them; it simply is not proof that they are easier, stronger, or better suited to a particular rank. No dated comparative win rates, pick rates, tier placements, or difficulty ratings are established here.

Quick choice guide

  • Want a documented gameplay hook? Start with Rick’s boxing identity and Aggressor Style stance.
  • Already have a favorite from the Fatal Fury roster or a crossover series? Use that character’s trailer to decide whether the in-game presentation interests you.
  • Looking for the easiest fighter or the strongest competitive pick? The official information available does not establish either ranking. Do not treat a trailer or character origin as a substitute for comparative gameplay evidence.

Season 3 roster and announced timing

As of October 12, 2026, SNK’s announced Season 3 roster comprises Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn, and Reina. The schedule has been updated since the initial announcement: SNK’s October 10 announcement identified Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji as October fighters and Reina as the December fighter. Laocorn was announced for November. These are announced timing windows, not a guarantee that a fighter is available in every region or storefront on a particular day.

Fighter Season 3 information What the available evidence supports for choosing
Rick Strowd First fighter named on the Season 3 DLC fight card; the season announcement describes monthly additions beginning July 23. SNK describes a boxer using Aggressor Style, with overhead, low, and catch-counter follow-ups.
Duck King Announced Season 3 fighter; no month specified here. Confirmed as part of the roster. Watch his official character trailer for presentation; a comparative move-set summary is not established.
Kim Kaphwan Announced Season 3 fighter; no month specified here. Confirmed as part of the roster. Watch his official character trailer for presentation; a comparative move-set summary is not established.
Manjiro Sano Tokyo Revengers guest fighter announced for October 2026. His guest status is confirmed; his source-series identity does not establish his competitive role or ease of use in City of the Wolves.
Ken Ryuguji Tokyo Revengers guest fighter announced for October 2026. His guest status is confirmed; his source-series identity does not establish his competitive role or ease of use in City of the Wolves.
Laocorn Announced for November 2026. Roster inclusion and announced month are confirmed; the information here does not substantiate a full move-set comparison.
Reina Announced for December 2026; SNK identifies her as coming from TEKKEN 8. Her crossover origin may make her interesting to that series’ fans, but it does not demonstrate how she plays in City of the Wolves.

SNK’s Season 3 announcement gives the original schedule and the Season Pass 3 price. The later October 10 roster announcement supplies the updated October and December identities. Check current official information if you are acting on a release window after October 12.

Which fighter should you try?

Rick Strowd: choose him for boxing and stance-based offense

Rick is the most concrete recommendation in the official descriptions. SNK calls him one of Fatal Fury’s few true boxers and says his new Aggressor Style stance includes versatile follow-ups: overheads, lows, catch counters, and more. That gives you a useful reason to sample him if you enjoy a boxer’s identity or want to explore offense organized around entering a stance and selecting among different follow-ups.

  • A unique popular game that is equal parts COLLABORATIVE AND COMPETITIVE; Pick your Pack based on the player's knowledge of the subject or go Lone Wolf for a chance at double the points!

This description identifies a gameplay feature; it does not establish that Rick is easy to learn, has the strongest offense, or is a top competitive choice. A stance with several options may be appealing to one player and demanding to another. Try the character and see whether the stance decisions feel enjoyable to you. SNK’s Rick Strowd announcement is the primary source for this mechanical description.

Duck King and Kim Kaphwan: decide from their official trailers

Both are confirmed Season 3 fighters, and SNK’s official trailer index includes character trailers for them. The information available here does not establish concise, comparable move-set descriptions for either fighter, so it would be misleading to assign them a style label or say one is easier. If either name already appeals to you, watch the relevant trailer and look for the kinds of attacks and movement you would enjoy using; treat that as a preference check, not a performance assessment.

Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji: crossover appeal is a valid preference, not a play-style ranking

SNK announced the Tokyo Revengers guest fighters for October 2026. Their connection to that series can be a good reason for its fans to take a look, but it does not tell you how either character functions in City of the Wolves. Use their character trailers to judge whether their on-screen presentation interests you. Do not infer execution difficulty, competitive role, or relative strength from their source franchise or visual design.

Laocorn: follow the announced November window and check availability

Laocorn was announced for November 2026. Because that is after the October 12 information cutoff reflected here, availability depends on the date and platform storefront you check. The documented information confirms his place on the Season 3 roster and his announced month, but it does not support a full comparison of his moves or a claim that he is a particular kind of player’s best pick.

Reina: consider the crossover if it interests you, then judge the game character

SNK announced Reina, from TEKKEN 8, for December 2026. Her origin may be a reason to pay attention if you are a fan of that series. It is not evidence that her City of the Wolves version will play like a particular character there, or that she will be easy or strong. Check the official trailer and current storefront listing when deciding whether to buy or try her.

How to compare the fighters for yourself

The official character trailers are a useful next step, but a short promotional video cannot settle questions such as difficulty or competitive strength. Use it to identify what you want to investigate, then make the choice based on actual play where the fighter is available. SNK’s character trailer index is the official place to start.

  1. Pick your reason for trying someone. Decide whether you are prioritizing a documented mechanic, a favorite character, a crossover connection, or simply an appealing presentation. This prevents a trailer’s style from being mistaken for proof of performance.
  2. Watch the official character trailer. Notice the moves and sequences that catch your eye. Record questions—such as whether a stance has follow-ups or how an approach works—instead of assuming a clip answers them.
  3. Check the fighter in-game if available to you. Pay attention to whether you enjoy the character’s decisions and execution as you play. A move that looks impressive in a trailer may not match your own preferences once you try it.
  4. Compare candidates on the same questions. For each one, consider documented approach and range, stance or resource demands, offensive and defensive tools, execution burden, and your familiarity or character interest. These are useful comparison axes, not established Season 3 rankings for every fighter.
  5. Make the purchase decision only after confirming the listing. Check your own platform storefront for the fighter’s availability, whether the listing is for an individual character or a pass, and the price and contents shown there.

A strong personal pick is the fighter whose actions you want to learn and whose moment-to-moment decisions you enjoy. That is a more dependable choice for an individual player than a supposed universal “best” based on material that does not compare the roster.

Season Pass 3, individual DLC, and platform checks

SNK distinguishes the base game from paid additional content; owning the base game should not be treated as automatically including the DLC fighters. SNK’s official products page lists Season Pass 3 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and the Epic Games Store. Its listed Season 3 pass contents are Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Manjiro Sano, Ken Ryuguji, Laocorn, and Reina.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

SNK’s Season 3 announcement lists the pass at $19.99 / €19.99 and says earlier DLC characters can be purchased individually. It also cautions that prices vary by storefront and release schedules may change. Those figures and contents should not be assumed to be the current price, regional price, or final availability for your account: confirm the live listing before purchase. The official product page separates the game and additional content and lists supported platforms.

If you need the base game as well as a fighter, verify that you are buying the correct edition and platform before checking out. The official product information establishes the game and platform category; it does not establish the details, price, or contents of any particular retailer listing.

What not to conclude from the available comparisons

  • A character being announced earlier or later does not show that they are stronger, weaker, easier, or more popular.
  • A crossover character’s origin does not prove how the character works in City of the Wolves.
  • A trailer can show presentation and selected moves, but does not provide a balanced, side-by-side evaluation of range, defensive options, resource use, execution demands, or tournament performance.
  • Rick’s described stance options make him the clearest mechanics-led suggestion here, not an objectively best fighter.

For a newcomer asking “who is easiest to pick up?”, the honest answer is that the available official descriptions do not establish an ease ranking. Start with a character whose identity or shown actions appeal to you, then judge the learning experience in play rather than relying on an unverified label.
