If you enjoy the soaring martial-arts action of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the game behind this headline is likely Where Winds Meet. Its publisher describes it as an open-world wuxia action-adventure RPG—not, in the announcement reviewed here, as an MMO. Wuxia is a tradition of stories about martial artists whose skill can take on extraordinary, almost superhuman dimensions.
Why Where Winds Meet fits the wuxia comparison
The connection to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is more than a loose resemblance. NetEase named the film while describing how popular movies and other works have introduced audiences to wuxia. PlayStation Blog likewise used it as an example of wuxia fiction, describing a genre centered on warriors in ancient China performing superhuman martial-arts feats.

That context helps explain the appeal for film fans: wuxia is not simply historical combat. It invites heightened movement and skill, with martial artists doing things that ordinary physical realism would not allow. PlayStation Blog’s explanation is accompanied by an example from the game: an umbrella used as a weapon.

NetEase’s official description is “open-world wuxia action-adventure RPG.” That is the most accurate label supported by the publisher announcement. The headline’s word “MMO” should be treated as informal shorthand, not a verified formal genre classification: the available sources do not establish the game’s online-player structure or confirm that label.

The open-world setting and wuxia combat are the core points established in the publisher and platform materials. They do not, on their own, prove that every player experience is multiplayer or that the game works like a traditional massively multiplayer online game.
Weapons shown in the available materials
PlayStation Blog highlights the umbrella, while the Steam listing names other examples of weapons associated with the game. These are examples, not a complete or current inventory of every weapon or combat feature.
