Fairphone’s second-generation Fairbuds 2 are repairable true-wireless earbuds with user-replaceable batteries, seven replaceable parts, Sony LDAC, Bluetooth 6.0 and hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC). Fairphone lists a recommended price of €119 in Europe and $119 in the United States. The US product page currently says “coming soon”; Fairphone’s launch announcement says US sales are planned for November 2026 through Fairphone.com and selected partners.
What is new in Fairbuds 2?
Fairbuds 2 retain Fairphone’s modular, repair-oriented design while adding several hardware and wireless upgrades. The headline changes from the first generation are:
- Sony LDAC support for higher-bitrate Bluetooth audio when paired with a compatible source device.
- Hybrid ANC rated by Fairphone at up to 45 dB improved noise cancelling.
- Bluetooth 6.0 instead of Bluetooth 5.3.
- A lighter modular construction with seven replaceable parts.
- Longer claimed playback, especially when the charging case is included.
LDAC is not a guarantee of higher sound quality on every phone. It requires a compatible source, and Fairphone specifically notes that the improved LDAC implementation is currently available on Android devices. Fairbuds 2 also support AAC, SBC and LC3.

Fairphone describes the earbuds as designed for daily wear from cleaner materials. Independent listening, call-quality and ANC testing is still needed to determine how they perform in practice; the specifications below are manufacturer claims.

Price and availability
Fairphone gives Fairbuds 2 a recommended retail price of €119 in Europe. Its US product page lists $119, but marks the product as coming soon. The company’s 2026 launch story says US availability is planned for November 2026 through Fairphone.com and selected partners. Stock, delivery dates and regional pricing can change, so buyers should check the relevant Fairphone store before ordering.
Battery life and replacement
Fairphone rates the earbuds for up to eight hours of playback with ANC switched off and up to six hours with ANC switched on. Including the charging case, the claimed total is up to 40 hours. These are separate conditions: the eight-hour figure is not the ANC-on rating, and the 40-hour figure includes recharges from the case.

Both earbud batteries and the case battery are user-replaceable. Fairphone’s FAQ says replacement is tool-free and glue-free. Listed parts include an earbud battery kit for €9.95 and a charging-case battery replacement for €12.95. Fairphone also offers a replacement case core and individual replacement earbuds, allowing a damaged component to be replaced without discarding the complete set.

What can owners repair?
The repairability proposition covers more than battery access. Fairphone says Fairbuds 2 use a seven-part modular design and sells individual replacement components, including a single earbud and a replacement case core. The tool-free, glue-free battery procedure is intended to make routine battery renewal practical rather than a specialist repair job.
That does not mean every failure is user-serviceable or that the earbuds are indestructible. Parts availability, regional stock and the exact repair instructions determine what an owner can replace at a given time. Repairability is a design and manufacturer claim, not an independent durability certification.

Sustainability claims
Fairphone claims that approximately 46% of Fairbuds 2 materials are fair and recycled, that the exterior is PFAS-free and that the product is 100% e-waste neutral. These figures describe Fairphone’s stated sourcing and environmental program; they are not independent test results. The replaceable-battery approach can also extend useful life, because a worn battery does not automatically require replacing the earbuds and case.

Fairbuds 2 versus the first generation
