Favorites gives you more control over which accounts you see; Feeds gives you more control over how Facebook presents their posts. Favorites narrows the source list to people, Pages, and groups you choose. Feeds is the recent-posts view for friends, Favorites, Pages, and groups, without Facebook’s “Suggested For You” posts. It can still contain ads. For most people, open Feeds first, then use Favorites when you want the tightest hand-picked view.
The short answer: Favorites controls sources, Feeds controls the stream
Facebook’s labels sound interchangeable, but they solve different problems. Favorites is a curated list of accounts you consider most important. Feeds is a viewing mode that shows recent posts from connected friends, Pages, groups, and your Favorites. Home is the discovery-oriented starting view, where Facebook ranks posts and recommendations using machine-learning systems.
| Your goal | Best choice | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| See posts from a hand-picked set of accounts | Favorites inside Feeds | Narrows the accounts included in the view. |
| See recent posts from connected accounts | Feeds | Uses the recent-post stream and excludes “Suggested For You” posts. |
| Discover creators, topics, and accounts you do not already follow | Home | Uses personalized ranking and recommendations. |
| Reduce one unwanted topic or account | Interested/Not interested, hide, fewer posts, snooze, unfollow, or reconnect controls | Changes ranking or mutes/removes a source rather than changing the entire view. |
The practical sequence is simple: use Feeds when you want a less recommendation-heavy stream, filter it to Friends, Pages, Groups, or all connected sources as needed, and switch to Favorites when only your selected accounts matter.
What Facebook means by Favorites
A source list you curate
Favorites is a priority list of friends and Pages you care about most. TIME’s 2022 walkthrough also described selected groups and reported a limit of up to 30 favorites. That limit is a historical, documented figure rather than a promise that every account or every current app version uses the same cap.

Think of Favorites as an account-level filter. You decide which people, Pages, and, where available, groups belong in the list. When you view Favorites within Feeds, Facebook uses that list to narrow the eligible sources. This is the strongest control when your question is, “Which accounts should be in front of me?”
What Favorites does not promise
Favorites is not a guarantee that every post from every selected account will appear. Meta describes it as a curated list inside Feeds, not as an archive or notification system. Posts can be absent because an account did not publish, a post was deleted or restricted, the app’s interface changed, or the account is not available in that particular Favorites implementation.
Favorites also does not turn Facebook into an ad-free service. Ads can still appear in Feeds, and choosing Favorites does not create a separate paid or recommendation-free environment.

The recent-post view
Feeds is Facebook’s dedicated tab for recent posts from friends, Pages, groups, and Favorites. Meta says Feeds has no “Suggested For You” posts. That makes it the better starting point when your complaint is that Home keeps inserting accounts or topics you never chose.
TIME described the connected-account stream as chronological and said it can be filtered by Friends, Pages, Groups, or all sources. In practical terms, Feeds is built around recency rather than discovery. It is still safer to read “recent” as the design goal, not as a guarantee that every item will be displayed in perfect timestamp order or that every post will be present.
Feeds is broader than Favorites
Favorites is a subset of the accounts you selected. Feeds normally covers the wider set of connected accounts, including friends, Pages, and groups. That makes Feeds the broader control surface: you can remove recommendation posts while retaining access to the communities and Pages you already follow.

If you select the Favorites filter inside Feeds, the result is narrower than the general Feeds view. If you select Friends, Pages, or Groups, you change the type of connected source shown without having to edit your Favorites list.
Ads can still appear
“No Suggested For You posts” does not mean “no sponsored content.” Meta’s description of Feeds still allows ads. A feed can therefore be composed of recent connected-account posts plus advertising, even when it contains no recommendation cards labeled “Suggested For You.”
How Home differs from both
Home is Facebook’s first or starting tab and is designed for discovery. Meta says its machine-learning ranking system uses thousands of signals to order content. TIME likewise described Home as personalized and recommendation-driven.
Home can be useful when you want new interests, creators, or communities. It is the wrong view when your priority is a predictable list of accounts you already chose. Changing to Feeds does not disable Facebook’s recommendation systems everywhere; it changes the stream you are looking at. Home remains recommendation-led, while Feeds is the connected-account view.
Which gives you more control?
Choose Favorites for source control
Favorites wins if control means deciding who is eligible to appear. It is appropriate when you want a short list of close friends, essential Pages, or a few groups and do not want to scan the larger set of accounts you follow.

- You have a small group of accounts you check every day.
- You want a deliberate list rather than Facebook’s interpretation of what matters.
- You are willing to maintain the list as your interests change.
Choose Feeds for format and recency control
Feeds wins if control means deciding what kind of stream you are reading. It is the better answer when you want recent posts from connected accounts and want to avoid “Suggested For You” items without manually curating every source.
- You want to see friends, Pages, and groups you already follow.
- You prefer recent-post ordering to Home’s recommendation ranking.
- You want to switch quickly between Friends, Pages, Groups, Favorites, and the broader connected-account view.
That is why neither label is an absolute winner. Favorites is narrower and more intentional; Feeds is broader but removes a major category of recommendation content.

How to use Feeds and its filters
Facebook changes navigation labels and rollout details by app version, device, and account. The names below describe the documented design; if a label is missing, use the current app’s menu or search for Feeds, Favorites, or Feed Preferences.
- Open Facebook and select Feeds. On some versions it appears as a top-level tab; on others it is reached from the main menu.
- Choose the source filter that matches your task. Select Friends for personal contacts, Pages for Pages you follow, Groups for group posts, Favorites for your curated list, or the all-sources option for the broader connected-account stream.
- Scroll for recent posts. Feeds is intended for recent connected content and does not include “Suggested For You” posts according to Meta.
- Use the post menu when a source is not useful. Hide an individual story, ask to see fewer posts from a person, Page, or group, snooze the source, unfollow it, or report content when appropriate.
- Return to Feed Preferences for account-level changes. Favorites, snooze, reconnect, and related controls are grouped there, although the exact path and wording can differ by device and rollout.
Do not assume that selecting Friends means every friend’s newest post will appear or that selecting Favorites creates a complete log. The controls select or mute sources; they do not replace Facebook’s availability, moderation, privacy, and display rules.
How to build and maintain a useful Favorites list
Start with a purpose
Before adding accounts, decide what the list is for. A “daily essentials” list might contain close friends and a few local Pages. A “work communities” list might contain professional groups and Pages. Mixing every account you like into one list removes the benefit of having a narrow view.
Add only accounts you would actively look for
Use the Favorites management control in the current Feed Preferences interface, then add the friends, Pages, and eligible groups you want prioritized. Because TIME’s 2022 walkthrough reported up to 30 favorites, a short list is also the safest assumption for planning, even though current limits can vary.
Review the list when your feed feels wrong
If Favorites becomes noisy, remove accounts that post too frequently or no longer matter. If it becomes too quiet, check whether the selected accounts are still active and whether a broader Feeds filter would serve you better. Favorites is a maintained list, not a one-time setting.
Controls beyond Favorites and Feeds
Interested and Not interested
Meta’s customization guidance now calls the feedback choices Interested and Not interested; they were previously labeled Show more and Show less. Selecting Interested temporarily increases a post’s ranking score. Selecting Not interested temporarily decreases it. These are ranking signals, not permanent source filters.

Hide, fewer posts, snooze, unfollow, and reconnect
Use Hide when one story is the problem. Use the option to see fewer posts from a person, Page, or group when the source is still relevant but too prominent. Snooze temporarily mutes a source. Unfollow removes its posts from your regular feed while preserving the connection, where that option is available. Reconnect helps restore posts from a source you previously chose to see less of.
These controls solve different problems from Favorites. Favorites chooses a priority set; the other controls adjust individual sources or the ranking of particular posts. Combining them is usually more effective than repeatedly switching between Home and Feeds.
Report content when the issue is safety or policy
If a post violates Facebook’s rules or presents a safety concern, use the reporting control rather than relying on Not interested. Ranking feedback changes what you are likely to see; reporting sends the item through Facebook’s content-review process.

How do I see only my friends’ posts?
Open Feeds and choose the Friends filter. That changes the source type to friends’ posts. It does not promise that every friend’s post will be shown, and ads may still appear in Feeds.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does Favorites show every post from selected people?
No. Favorites is a curated account list inside Feeds, not a complete-post archive. It prioritizes the accounts you selected but does not guarantee delivery of every post.
How do I stop “Suggested For You” posts?
Use Feeds rather than Home. Meta says Feeds has no “Suggested For You” posts. Ads can still appear, and Home remains recommendation-driven.

Is Facebook Feeds chronological?
Feeds is designed around recent posts, and TIME described the connected-account stream as chronological. Treat that as the intended ordering rather than a guarantee of perfect timestamp order or complete coverage of every post.
Can I use Favorites without using Feeds?
Meta describes Favorites as a curated list filtered inside Feeds. In other words, Favorites is a source selection within the Feeds experience, not a completely separate social network or archive.

- Interface changes: Facebook can move Feeds, Favorites, and Feed Preferences between tabs and menus. The available controls can differ by app version, device, account, and rollout.
- Historical limits: The up-to-30 Favorites figure comes from TIME’s 2022 walkthrough. Do not assume it is unchanged for every current account.
- Ads remain possible: Feeds excludes “Suggested For You” posts, not advertising.
- Feedback is temporary: Interested and Not interested adjust ranking temporarily; they are not permanent guarantees.
- Source selection is not completeness: Favorites and Feeds determine which connected sources or stream mode you use, but they cannot guarantee that every eligible post is available or displayed.
When a control is missing, check the current Feed Preferences screen and the app’s own help text rather than relying on an older screenshot. Meta’s customization guidance was updated March 11, 2025, while the Feeds and Favorites rollout began earlier, so labels and placement should be treated as version-dependent.
A practical choice for everyday use
Start with Feeds if your main frustration is discovery content. It gives you recent posts from connected friends, Pages, groups, and Favorites without “Suggested For You” posts. Within Feeds, choose Friends, Pages, Groups, or Favorites depending on the source you want at that moment.
Use Favorites when you need a deliberately small list and are prepared to maintain it. Use Home when you want Facebook to introduce new topics and accounts. For anything that is too frequent, irrelevant, or temporarily unwelcome, apply the narrower controls—Interested, Not interested, hide, fewer posts, snooze, unfollow, reconnect, or report—instead of rebuilding your entire feed.
“But the Feeds tab will give you a way to customize and control your experience further.”

The Bottom Line
Verdict: Favorites gives you the greatest control over which accounts appear. Feeds gives you the greatest control over the stream format by showing recent connected-account posts without “Suggested For You” recommendations. Use Feeds as the default view, then switch to Favorites for a tighter, hand-picked list.
