Gold parts are special components for building custom machines in F-Zero GX; the reviewed official material does not establish a gameplay bonus for a part simply because it is gold. The original documented unlock route used F-Zero AX and a special license card. A report published October 10, 2026, describes a newer four-controller input method, but that method has not been independently verified here or confirmed by Nintendo.
What gold parts unlock
Gold parts are in-game components for custom machines, not physical items. A custom machine combines three categories: a body, a cockpit, and a booster. The component’s category and displayed attributes determine what it contributes to the build.
The official descriptions associate the body with stability and collision strength, the cockpit with control and cornering grip, and the booster with top speed and boost acceleration. The reviewed official material does not identify an additional gameplay effect triggered by a component’s gold color.

Original documented method: transfer from F-Zero AX
The archived official method involved playing F-Zero AX with a GameCube memory card containing GX data and a special F-ZERO license card. At the end of play, the special parts were downloaded to the memory card; when that card was used with GX, the parts appeared in the F-ZERO Shop. This was an event-era route dependent on access to the arcade game and its special cards.

Newly reported method: four-controller inputs
A Nintendo Everything report published October 10, 2026, lists the following inputs for gold parts. The report says each sequence requires four controllers simultaneously and works in both the original GameCube release and the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Classics edition. These are the report’s claims, not inputs independently tested here or confirmed by Nintendo.

Enter the sequence using four controllers at once, as described in that report. It does not say a GameCube memory card is required for this reported method.

How to use gold parts in a custom machine
- Open the F-ZERO Shop. Once parts are available in your save, find them in the shop and purchase or select the components you want to use.
- Go to customization or the Garage. Assemble a machine from a body, cockpit, and booster.
- Check the displayed attributes. Compare the parts’ stats and overall weight rather than assuming a gold component is automatically an upgrade.
The instruction booklet describes the purpose of the shop this way: “Purchase custom parts to create an original machine.” The categories have distinct roles, so choose according to the handling or speed characteristics you want from the complete build.

How to choose between parts
- Body: weigh its stability and collision strength against the rest of the build.
- Cockpit: consider control and cornering grip.
- Booster: compare top speed and boost acceleration.
- Whole machine: check weight along with the attributes shown in the game; a single part’s label does not determine whether the full build suits you.
