The Excelair EPA58041BS is a portable air conditioner rated by its manufacturer at 4.1 kW of cooling capacity. Its official manual also specifies 1,577 W cooling power consumption, a required exhaust-hose setup, and filter-care rules. Those figures are manufacturer ratings and instructions—not independent test results or a guarantee of how quickly it will cool a particular room.
What the EPA58041BS specifications say
The 2024 Excelair EPA580 series manual lists these specifications for the EPA58041BS. They are manufacturer-provided figures, not independent measurements.

The manual says rated performance conditions follow EN 14511; the cooling test condition is 35°C dry-bulb and 24°C wet-bulb. A standardized rating helps describe performance under specified conditions, but it does not predict a specific room’s cooling time or temperature. Room size, sunlight, open doors or windows, heat sources, airflow, and installation can affect results. The manual does not establish a recommended cooling-area figure.
Exhaust setup: use the supplied hose and window fittings
This unit needs an exhaust hose and window spacer arrangement to discharge hot air outdoors. Install the supplied pipe and fittings as shown in the model’s manual. Keep the hose as short and straight as practical: kinks and bends can cause expelled moist air to build up and may lead to overheating or shutdown.

The manual says not to extend the exhaust pipe and to replace it only with the same original manufacturer pipe. Do not assume a generic extension or another model’s kit will fit.
How to clean the air filters
Unplug the appliance before cleaning. The manual distinguishes the washable air filter or filters from the supplied activated-carbon filter, which is not washable.

- Remove the air filter or filters according to the manual’s instructions.
- Gently tap off dust and debris or vacuum them away.
- Rinse the washable filter under warm running water.
- Let it dry thoroughly before reinstalling it.
- Reinstall all filters before operating the appliance.
The manual warns: “Important! Never operate the appliance without filter/s installed.”

Check the activated-carbon filter periodically and replace it if necessary. The manual gives approximately six months as a guide, but says service life varies with ambient conditions. It does not identify a replacement-filter part number, so confirm exact compatibility with the manufacturer or an authorized parts supplier before ordering.

Common problems to check before seeking service
- The unit will not turn on: Check that it has power and whether the water-full indicator is on.
- Cooling seems weak: Check for heat sources, open doors or windows, direct sunlight, and a dusty filter or blocked air intake or outlet.
- Noise is excessive: Check that the appliance is on an even surface.
These checks come from the manufacturer’s troubleshooting guidance; they are not a substitute for service. The manual says only a licensed professional may dismantle the appliance. Refrigerant-related maintenance requires appropriately competent personnel.
End-of-season storage
Before storage, drain accumulated water and run the appliance in ventilation mode for at least two hours. The manual states that EPA58041-series storage should be in a room larger than 15 m². This is a storage instruction, not a recommended cooling-area rating.
