Cooling capacity: what 2.6 kW tells you
A 2.6 kW rating is the central sizing figure published for this model. It allows a like-for-like comparison with other portable air conditioners, but it does not, by itself, guarantee a particular room size or pull-down time. Actual results depend on ceiling height, sunlight, insulation, outdoor temperature, door opening and how well the exhaust hose and window kit are sealed.

Portable units also lose practical effectiveness when warm exhaust air leaks back into the room. For that reason, compare installation quality and hose routing as carefully as the headline capacity. No public source cited here provides an independently measured efficiency figure, airflow rate, energy label result or room-size recommendation for the EWTP9BF, so do not treat a retailer capacity number as a promise that it will cool every room of a given floor area.
Cooling only, not heating
The model is identified as cooling-only. If you need winter heating, you would need a separate heater or a different air-conditioner model with a documented heating mode. Do not infer reverse-cycle operation from the presence of a timer, dehumidification function or R290 refrigerant.

CHOICE lists two fan speeds, giving you a lower and higher airflow option, but its public specification does not disclose separate decibel readings for each speed.

Dimensions and the 22 kg versus 26 kg discrepancy
JB Hi-Fi and CHOICE give the same cabinet dimensions: 680 × 300 × 280 mm, also written as 68 × 30 × 28 cm. Those measurements are useful for checking a floor position, doorway and storage space, but leave clearance for the exhaust connection and airflow rather than treating the cabinet dimensions as the complete installation footprint.
Weight is not consistent. JB Hi-Fi lists 22 kg, while CHOICE lists 26 kg for the exact EWTP9BF. The difference could reflect a source error, packaging or a variant, but neither listing explains it. Use the model’s rating plate, supplied manual or a current seller specification to settle the figure before lifting it, planning stairs or selecting a trolley. Do not combine the two numbers into an assumed average.
Functions included in the published specification
Dehumidifying mode
The retailer lists dehumidification. That confirms a moisture-removal function, but no extraction rate, tank capacity, drainage interval or humidity-control accuracy is published in the cited specifications. If you intend to use the unit primarily as a dehumidifier, ask the seller for those details and confirm whether continuous drainage is supported by the supplied accessories.

24-hour timer
A 24-hour timer is listed. The public specification does not explain whether it supports delayed start, delayed stop, a repeating schedule or only a single countdown. Check the remote-control instructions for the exact behavior before relying on it for unattended operation.

Two fan speeds
CHOICE lists two fan speeds. No additional fan modes, sleep setting, automatic temperature mode or air-swing specification is established by the published listings. Treat those features as unknown unless they appear in the manual supplied with your unit.
R290 refrigerant and the official listing
The EWTP9BF is listed with R290 refrigerant by the retailer and CHOICE. Resources Safety and Health Queensland’s refrigerant-appliance register records the model as an EWT mobile air conditioner using R290, under approval certificate 19940 issued on 21 August 2023. That register was published on 8 July 2024.
The Queensland entry confirms regulatory listing and refrigerant identification; it is not a cooling-performance test, efficiency certification or endorsement of the appliance. Keep the model and approval information with the appliance records, and follow the safety, handling and service instructions supplied with the unit whenever the refrigerant circuit or cabinet is involved.
What is—and is not—publicly known about independent testing
CHOICE has an exact-model page for the EWTP9BF and publicly shows specifications including 2.6 kW capacity, R290, the cabinet dimensions, a 26 kg weight and two fan speeds. Its expert rating and detailed test fields are member-restricted on the public page. There is therefore no defensible public score or measured cooling result to quote here.

That distinction matters when comparing this model with another portable air conditioner. A capacity number supplied by a retailer describes the product specification; it does not tell you how quickly the appliance cooled a standardized room, how much electricity it used, or how its noise compared under controlled conditions. If a seller advertises a test score, check which organization measured it, under what standard and for which exact model code.
Setting up the EWTP9BF
The exact fittings and instructions supplied with your purchase take precedence. A sensible setup check is:
- Read the model label and manual before unpacking permanently. Confirm that the label says EWTP9BF and retain the serial number, receipt and warranty information.

Nationwide Spares labels several entries for EWTP9BF, including an air filter, exhaust hose, remote control, housing adaptors, a window-kit dowel and a water stopper. Those listings are useful for locating possible replacements, but they do not establish live stock, manufacturer authorization or a guaranteed fit. Match the part number and appliance model printed on your unit, and ask the seller to confirm compatibility if the listing covers several models.
When a replacement part is needed
- Filter: Use the model-labelled filter or the specification in the manual; do not cut generic material to size unless EWT explicitly permits it.
- Exhaust hose or adaptor: Match both ends and the model code. A loose joint can return warm air to the room and reduce practical cooling.
- Remote control: Confirm the exact EWTP9BF designation, since visually similar remotes may not share all functions.

The same retailer listing states a one-year manufacturer warranty. Confirm whether the warranty is one year from purchase, what proof of purchase is required, who handles service and whether labour, transport and replacement parts are covered. Warranty terms can change, and the listing alone does not describe exclusions or the process for a refrigerant-related fault.
