Reptile Leather is used in ten distinct Enshrouded products currently listed by the Official Enshrouded Wiki. The list covers armor, gloves, boots, trousers, a backpack and a chestplate. Most recipes require one leather; the Tank Chestplate requires two, and the Medium Backpack is the largest consumer at six.
The material is made at a Drying Rack from Reptile Hide and Salt. One batch takes 60 seconds and produces three Reptile Leather. Snapjaws supply the hide, so your production loop is: hunt Snapjaws, collect Reptile Hide, add Salt at a Drying Rack, then craft the finished item at the appropriate profession station.

Recipes by crafting role
The leather itself is not made at any of these armor stations. First process the raw hide at a Drying Rack, then use the profession station shown in the table for the finished equipment or backpack.
Blacksmith at the Forge
The Blacksmith handles the two Adventurer pieces and the Tank Chestplate. These are the Forge recipes in the current list. If you are preparing a Forge session, gather the required leather before opening the Blacksmith’s recipe menu so you can distinguish a missing material from a recipe that belongs to another crafter.
Hunter
The Hunter’s leather recipes are Cutthroat Gloves, Ranger Gloves, Ranger Trousers and Ranger Vest. The four items are all part of the same profession grouping, but each remains a separate recipe entry. Select the exact item you want rather than assuming one glove or clothing recipe unlocks the others.
Alchemist at the Mortar
The Alchemist uses Reptile Leather for Healer Boots and Mage Boots. Both are Mortar recipes. If a leather item does not appear in the Blacksmith or Hunter menus, check the Alchemist’s Mortar before concluding that the recipe is unavailable.

Bard
The Bard crafts the Medium Backpack. At six leather, it has the highest single-item requirement in the list, so it should be the first item to include in a farming plan when inventory expansion is your goal.
What Reptile Leather is and how to make it
Reptile Leather is a common, level-13 crafting material. Its item flavor text describes it as “A sturdy material used in extravagant tailoring.” The material is an intermediate product: you do not obtain it directly from the creature that drops the hide.
Inputs, output and time

The one-minute figure is the stated processing time for one batch. Three leather is the output of that batch, not the amount produced per hide before processing. Salt is consumed along with the hide, so a hide stockpile without enough Salt cannot be converted into finished leather.
Step-by-step production
- Hunt Snapjaws. The Official Enshrouded Wiki’s Reptile Hide page identifies Snapjaws as the source of Reptile Hide.
- Collect the hide. Keep the Reptile Hide in your inventory or storage until you are ready to process it.
- Obtain Salt. Each Drying Rack batch consumes three Salt, so count Salt against the number of batches you plan to run.
- Use a Drying Rack. Put one Reptile Hide and three Salt into the rack’s recipe input, start the process and allow 60 seconds for completion.
- Collect the output. One completed cycle gives three Reptile Leather. Repeat the rack recipe for additional batches.
- Craft the final item at its profession station. Use the Blacksmith’s Forge, Hunter, Alchemist’s Mortar or Bard station shown for the product you selected.
How much leather should you farm?
Leather planning is straightforward because every listed cost is one, two or six. Start with the item you cannot make from your current stock, then convert the leather requirement into Drying Rack batches.

For a Medium Backpack
The Medium Backpack needs six Reptile Leather. Since one batch yields three, plan on two batches: two Reptile Hides, six Salt and two minutes of rack processing when run one after another. Additional racks can reduce elapsed waiting time, but the material totals do not change.
For a Tank Chestplate
The Tank Chestplate consumes two Reptile Leather. One batch produces three, leaving one leather for another one-leather recipe. The minimum inputs for that batch are one Reptile Hide and three Salt.

For any one-leather product
Adventurer Gloves, Adventurer Helmet, Cutthroat Gloves, Healer Boots, Mage Boots, Ranger Gloves, Ranger Trousers and Ranger Vest each use one leather. One Drying Rack batch therefore supplies three separate one-leather crafts, provided you have access to the relevant profession station for each item.
For every distinct product once
Making one of each of the ten distinct products requires 15 Reptile Leather in total. That equals five Drying Rack batches, requiring five Reptile Hides and 15 Salt. If a single rack processes the batches consecutively, the stated 60-second cycle gives five minutes of processing time; crafting at the Forge, Hunter, Mortar and Bard stations is a separate step.

Efficient farming and crafting workflow
Choose a target before hunting
Decide whether your immediate goal is the six-leather Medium Backpack, the two-leather Tank Chestplate or several one-leather pieces. This prevents stopping after one hide when your target needs multiple batches. For a backpack, count two complete batches before leaving the Drying Rack; for a full ten-item set, count five.
Track Salt as carefully as Hide
Hide is the creature drop, but Salt is the other fixed input. Every batch consumes three Salt. If your plan changes from one batch to five, the Salt requirement changes from three to 15, even though the processing recipe itself is unchanged.
Separate processing from final crafting
Do not search for Reptile Leather in the Forge, Hunter, Mortar or Bard station before making it. Those stations consume the finished material. The conversion from Reptile Hide happens only at the Drying Rack, and the conversion takes one minute per batch.
Use the profession column to avoid detours
Before travelling to a crafter, identify the station in the recipe table. Blacksmith items belong at the Forge, the four Ranger/Cutthroat items belong to the Hunter, the two boot recipes belong at the Alchemist’s Mortar and the backpack belongs to the Bard. This division is useful when you are carrying a limited amount of leather and want to craft several different products in one trip.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
Confusing Reptile Hide with Reptile Leather
Reptile Hide is the raw input dropped by Snapjaws; Reptile Leather is the processed level-13 material used by the equipment recipes. If a recipe says you are missing leather after a hunt, place the hide and Salt in a Drying Rack and wait for the cycle to finish.

The Medium Backpack costs six leather, not one. Six is twice the output of a single batch, so one hide cannot complete it. Gather two hides and six Salt for the required two cycles.
Using the wrong crafting station
Leather equipment is split across four crafting roles. A Forge search will not show Hunter, Mortar or Bard products. Refer to the station column and open the matching crafter’s recipe list.
Substituting Water Reptile Leather
Water Reptile Leather is a separate level-40 material with its own hide input and product list. It is not an alternative name for the level-13 Reptile Leather recipes in this article. Do not combine the two materials when planning batches or searching storage.
Relying on an old recipe list
Enshrouded recipes can change with patches. If your in-game menu disagrees with the table, compare it with the current Reptile Leather reference page and check whether the game has recently updated before farming a large stockpile.
Quick planning checklist
- Choose the target product and read its leather cost in the recipe table.
- Convert leather into batches by dividing the requirement by three and rounding up.
- Gather one Reptile Hide and three Salt for each planned batch.
- Hunt Snapjaws for the hide input.
- Run the Drying Rack for 60 seconds per batch.
- Take the finished leather to the correct Forge, Hunter, Mortar or Bard station.
- Keep Water Reptile Leather separate from this material.
- Verify recipe costs against the live wiki after major patches.
For the current list, the practical bottleneck is usually the number of Drying Rack batches rather than a special conversion rule: three leather per 60-second cycle, with Snapjaw hides and Salt as the required inputs.
