No official source reviewed says Evernote as a service is shutting down. As of October 7, 2026, Evernote’s product pages describe v11 and updates during 2026, and its downloads page offers current apps. The changes behind the discontinuation rumors are narrower: older pre-v10 apps were retired, and the Personal and Professional plan names were replaced by Starter and Advanced.
Is Evernote shutting down?
There is no indication in the official sources reviewed that Evernote itself is being discontinued. Evernote’s product pages say v11 launched in January 2026 and describe subsequent improvements; its download page lists desktop and mobile apps and the Web Clipper. What has been discontinued or replaced?
Pre-v10 legacy apps
Evernote says it decommissioned clients released before v10 on macOS, Windows, and Android on March 26, 2024; its notice says the iOS version was decommissioned earlier. Personal and Professional plans
Evernote’s FAQ says its Personal and Professional individual plans have been retired and replaced by Starter and Advanced. The change is to plan names and options, not a statement that accounts or notes are being shut down. Updated agreements for some users
Evernote says users who signed up before October 1, 2026, will move to updated agreements on December 1, 2026. Its notice names Bending Spoons Operations S.p.A. as the affiliate receiving the contract and says this update does not change the account, notes, plan, price, or renewal date. Will you lose your notes if you cancel?
Evernote’s cancellation guidance says notes and notebooks are not lost when a paid subscription ends and the account reverts to Free. It says users retain access to view, edit, export, and delete existing notes and notebooks. Free-plan restrictions may prevent creating new notes if an account exceeds the Free limit. What do Starter and Advanced cost?
Evernote’s FAQ, updated April 9, 2026, lists the following USD prices and plan limits. Treat these as the FAQ’s published figures, not a promise of what a particular account will be charged: prices and transition details can vary by account and payment provider, and Apple or Google billing may differ.

Evernote says price changes take effect no sooner than the next scheduled billing date. If you do not accept a new price, its FAQ says you may cancel before that price takes effect. What to do if you still use Evernote
- Using an old app? Update to a current Evernote version; pre-v10 clients have been retired.
- Unsure about your plan or renewal? Open the Billing page in your Evernote account and confirm the plan, amount, and next billing date.
- Considering cancellation? Review Evernote’s cancellation instructions for the provider that bills you—Evernote, Apple, Google Play, or PayPal. Cancellation timing and refund handling depend on the provider; do not assume cancellation automatically means a refund.
- Planning to move your notes? Export important notes and verify the exported files before cancelling. Microsoft’s legacy Evernote-to-OneNote importer was retired in September 2022, so do not rely on that tool as a current migration route. Microsoft Support: Making the move from Evernote to OneNote
