The 1,200 W figure on the official SC60/M6S page and the 1,450 W figure in the reproduced SC60-R manual are genuinely different. Neither should be used to “correct” the other. A regional revision, a different designation or a transcription could explain the discrepancy, but the available material does not establish which applies to a particular machine. Check the rating plate on the unit you are considering.
What is known about cleaning performance
CHOICE states that its expert rating and test results for the Compact SC60R are available only to members. The public page therefore does not support a performance score, a ranking against other steam cleaners, a floor-wetness result, a measured heat-up time or an ease-of-use conclusion. It would be misleading to supply those missing values from the tank size or from the related SC60/M6S specifications.
The official Vapour M6S/SC60 page describes a 1,200 ml stainless-steel boiler, 1,200 W input, 4.5 bar maximum boiler pressure, six to seven minutes of heat-up and approximately 40 minutes before refill. Those are Euroflex claims for that named related model, not independent SC60R test measurements. For a second-hand purchase, observable condition matters more than an inherited score. Ask the seller to demonstrate that the unit reaches operating pressure, produces a steady jet, and does not release water from the boiler, hose or tool connection. A demonstration cannot replace an electrical-safety inspection, but it can reveal obvious failures before money changes hands.

This list describes what the product listing says was supplied, not what will be in every used box. Ask for photographs of each attachment and of the connector ends. Missing consumables such as a pad are easier to replace than a proprietary hose, pressure component or floor head.
Floor cleaning
The floor nozzle, extension tubes and mop pad form the likely hard-floor setup. Use only on surfaces whose manufacturer permits steam. Unsealed wood, damaged laminate, waxed finishes and some glued flooring can be harmed by heat or moisture; the appliance’s accessory list does not make a surface automatically steam-safe. Work in short passes and stop if the finish darkens, swells or lifts.
Windows and smooth panels
The squeegee is intended for smooth washable surfaces such as glass. Steam loosens residue, while the rubber blade removes the condensate. Keep the tool moving and wipe the blade between passes so loosened dirt is not redistributed.
Detail work
The jet nozzle, small brush, nylon brush, metal brush and scraper cover different levels of agitation. Nylon is the safer starting point for many hard surfaces. A metal brush or scraper can scratch enamel, plated finishes, plastics, paint and soft stone; test an inconspicuous area first. The broad accessory set is useful only if the parts are present and the surfaces you plan to clean can tolerate steam and mechanical brushing.
How to evaluate a used or remaining-stock SC60R
Use the following sequence when a listing is local or the seller can provide a video. Do not open a pressurized boiler or bypass a safety device.

- Confirm the identity. Photograph the model label and electrical rating plate. The label should identify SC60R or SC60-R rather than simply “SC60,” because related designations have different published figures.
- Check regional suitability. Verify voltage, plug, seller location and whether service is available in your country. A physically identical machine can be unsuitable for a different mains voltage.
- Inventory the kit. Compare every tool with the CHOICE list. Prioritize the hose, steam gun, floor nozzle, extension tubes, pressure cap, funnel and any connector or seal; these are more consequential than a missing cloth.
- Inspect plastics and seals. Look for brittle tabs, cracks around the boiler, flattened O-rings, melted areas and kinks in the hose. Age-related deterioration can produce leaks after the unit heats.
- Ask about storage. A machine left with water inside may have scale or corrosion. Ask when it was last used, how it was emptied and whether it was stored frost-free.
- Request a cold-start demonstration. The seller should begin with a cool, unplugged appliance, fill it according to the manual, secure the cap and show the indicator behavior. Do not handle the cap while pressurized.
- Observe operating behavior. Look for normal heating, a stable steam output and dry connections. Spurting water, an electrical smell, repeated tripping or steam escaping around the cap are reasons to walk away.
- Check documentation. Retain the manual, safety sheet and any original warranty paperwork. Documentation may identify regional voltage, approved descaling practice and tool-release procedures that cannot be inferred safely.
- Price the missing parts. Before agreeing to a price, identify the exact replacement cost and availability of every absent essential part. A cheap body without a hose or floor head may be uneconomical.
Water, chemicals and safe operation
The reproduced SC60-R manual describes domestic household use and advises against putting detergents, perfumes, oils or other chemicals into the boiler water. Follow that restriction even if a cleaning solution seems mild: additives can foam, leave residue, attack seals or create an inhalation hazard when heated.
Use the water and filling procedure specified for the particular manual. Do not improvise by removing a cap while the boiler is hot or pressurized. Unplug the machine, allow it to cool and release pressure exactly as the documentation directs before refilling, emptying or changing an attachment. Keep the steam jet away from skin, electrical outlets, energized equipment, pressurized containers and materials that can be damaged by heat.
Steam can loosen contaminants without removing them. On heavily soiled areas, collect the loosened residue with a cloth rather than allowing it to dry back onto the surface. Ventilate rooms when cleaning areas with accumulated grease, mold or strong odors, and keep children and pets away from the hot hose and tools.
Maintenance for an older boiler cleaner
After each use
- Switch off, unplug and let the appliance cool completely.
- Depressurize and empty the boiler according to the manual.
- Wipe the exterior and allow removable cloths and brushes to dry before storage.
- Inspect the hose, connectors and cap seal for moisture or damage.
Scale management
Mineral scale is a normal concern for heated-water appliances, but the correct descaling chemical, dilution and interval for this model are not established by the available public material. Do not pour vinegar, detergent or a proprietary descaler into the boiler unless the SC60-R documentation explicitly permits it. Euroflex’s US parts catalogue includes pads, brushes, extension tubes and nozzles for its wider product range. That catalogue does not establish that any item fits the SC60R.
