Short answer: Eternal Anima is designed so actions taken in the past affect the present, but the complete consequences are not public yet. Psychometry lets Wade read memories in objects and inherit abilities and classes from heroes of earlier eras. Future Sight can delay or cancel predicted enemy actions during battles, but that tactical system is not evidence of a story-choice rewind. No authoritative source currently confirms which levels, equipment, quests, relationship flags, timeline states, or story decisions carry over—or whether a permanent decision can be undone.
The game is still unreleased, so the safest way to plan is to treat story choices as potentially permanent until a launch build or developer documentation says otherwise.
What Eternal Anima officially says about time travel
Eternal Anima takes place in Urvis Ael, a floating kingdom. Wade travels through the past and present of four lost continents, meeting ancestors and descendants while uncovering forgotten history. Marvelous describes the central premise in direct terms: “Discover how your actions in the past affect the present.” Steam uses similar wording, describing a journey between past and present to uncover history.
That statement confirms a cause-and-effect relationship between eras. It does not provide a complete branch chart. The published material does not list every altered quest, changed map, revised character outcome, different ending, or item-state change that can result from a particular decision. Any guide that presents those details as established before release is going beyond the currently documented information.

What changes when you alter the past?
The only safe general answer is that the present can change. The game’s generational structure makes that more than a cosmetic premise: actions in an earlier era can affect the people and circumstances Wade encounters later. Marvelous frames the objective as saving the past to free the present, which indicates that time-travel choices matter to the story’s central conflict.
However, the official descriptions stop short of explaining the size or type of each change. “Affects the present” could encompass narrative conditions, available encounters, character circumstances, locations, combat access, or other systems, but none of those categories has been assigned to a specific choice in the public material. Treat them as possibilities, not confirmed outcomes.

For that reason, avoid assuming that every historical action produces a dramatic alternate reality. Some changes may be immediately visible, while others could be delayed or reflected through inherited abilities and character relationships. The extent of those effects can only be verified from the final game or a detailed developer explanation.
How Psychometry carries information across eras
Psychometry is the clearest confirmed form of cross-era progression. Wade deciphers memories stored in objects, then uses those memories to inherit “Abilities and Classes.” Marvelous also says players can empower allies with abilities belonging to their ancestors. Steam describes the same system as reading object memories and inheriting classes and abilities from the past.

This means the past is not only a setting for cutscenes. Memories can influence how the party fights. A class learned from an earlier hero may affect available commands, while an inherited ability can change how a character approaches later encounters. The system also links personal history to party development: the people Wade meets in one era can matter to the capabilities available in another.
What Psychometry does not prove
Psychometry confirms a route for acquiring abilities and classes; it does not constitute a published save-transfer specification. The available descriptions do not say that every level, weapon, armor piece, consumable, currency balance, quest flag, or relationship value automatically survives a timeline rewrite. Do not interpret “inherit” as proof that the entire save state carries over.
The 16 October 2026 Gematsu preview adds that Psychometry helps explain time travel, predicts upcoming turns, and supports class learning. Those observations reinforce its importance, but they still do not identify a universal list of persistent data.

Future Sight is a battle rewrite, not a story rewind
Future Sight operates inside combat. It reveals enemy actions and expected outcomes before they occur, allowing you to choose commands that delay or cancel those moves. Steam describes the commands as changing the flow of battle. Marvelous presents the same feature as a way to inspect what enemies will do and intervene before the predicted sequence resolves.

Gematsu’s hands-on preview provides more tactical detail: the interface shows a timeline of upcoming actions; hitting a weakness can apply Knock Back; and enemies become “broken” when they are pushed off the timeline. These effects let you rewrite the order and timing of a fight, potentially preventing a dangerous attack or creating an opening for your party.
That is a turn-level intervention, not a confirmation that Wade can reverse a narrative decision. Future Sight does not establish a menu command for restoring an earlier story state, reloading a branch, or returning the world to its previous historical condition. Keep combat predictions and story permanence as separate questions.
What carries over after a time-travel choice?
At present, only two kinds of persistence are documented: abilities and classes can be inherited through Psychometry, and Boost Points are explicitly temporary between battles. Everything else remains unconfirmed.

The Boost Point rule should not be generalized. It describes a battle resource resetting between encounters, not a rule for story choices or era transitions. Likewise, the existence of Psychometry does not mean that all other progress is retained.

Can you reverse a decision?
During combat
Yes, in the limited tactical sense supported by Future Sight. You can inspect the predicted sequence and select commands that delay or cancel enemy actions. Knock Back and the broken state described by Gematsu can further disrupt the displayed timeline. This gives you a way to respond to an anticipated attack before it resolves.
For story decisions
No reversal method has been confirmed. The reviewed official material does not document an undo button, rewind command, branch reload, checkpoint system, New Game Plus carry-over, or selector for alternate endings. Since the game has not launched, the permanence of a particular narrative choice is unknown.
The practical rule is simple: if the game presents a consequential story prompt, do not assume that opening a menu later will restore the previous timeline. Until the final build explains otherwise, regard the choice as potentially permanent.

- Keep a manual save before a major historical decision. Use a separate slot if the platform supports multiple slots rather than overwriting your only file.
- Record the visible state. Note the era, active objectives, party classes, important abilities, and inventory before confirming a choice. This makes later differences easier to identify.
- Check the immediate present. After the timeline changes, inspect the map, available objectives, party conversations, and Psychometry options before making another irreversible-looking decision.
- Do not spend every resource on the assumption of a reset. Boost Points are already documented as battle-local, while other resources have no published persistence rule.
- Use Future Sight only for battles. Its ability to cancel an enemy move does not imply that it can undo a story outcome.
- Wait for confirmed documentation before deleting alternate saves. A launch guide or developer statement may clarify whether branches can be revisited.
Release timing and what to verify
Marvelous lists 4 March 2027 releases for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. Steam currently shows a planned 3 March 2027 date and says the game is not yet available. A one-day difference can result from regional release timing or storefront conventions, so check the listing for your country before pre-ordering or scheduling play.
Because the title is unreleased, the launch version is the point at which claims about permanent choices, save transfer, and branch recovery can be tested. Store pages and later developer notes may also clarify whether the dates apply uniformly across regions and platforms.
What a complete post-launch choice guide should record
When reliable game data becomes available, evaluate every major decision using the same set of questions:
- What changes immediately in the present world?
- Does the choice alter a quest, character, encounter, location, or ending?
- Does it unlock, remove, or modify a Psychometry ability or class?
- Can the outcome be reversed through time travel, a checkpoint, or a normal save reload?
- Which levels, equipment, items, currencies, relationship values, and quest flags remain?
- Does the result affect only the current route, or does it persist into a later playthrough?
Those questions separate documented behavior from assumptions. They also prevent a common mistake: treating a combat prediction mechanic, a class-inheritance system, and a story branch as if they were one unified rewind feature.
Bottom line for players deciding how cautiously to play
Eternal Anima makes past-to-present consequences part of its core design. Psychometry provides confirmed cross-era inheritance of abilities and classes, while Future Sight lets you reshape predicted enemy turns in battle. Neither system currently supplies a published answer about ordinary save data or story reversals. Until the 2027 release and a detailed explanation of its branch mechanics, make manual backups before major choices and assume that a narrative decision may stand.
